    The marvel cards - especially the 1992 masterpieces got me into comics when I was a kid. Lots of nostalgia

    Always fun watching the struggle as people try and figure out how other humans came to a subjective conclusion about the grade of a card. It can be such a head scratcher some time.

    I used to collect these cards when I was a kid. I have a full run of series 1, 2 and 3. I have stacks and stacks of duplicates for series 2 and 3 (mostly 2) but I have no idea whatever happened to my series 1 duplicates. Hopefully I will come across them one day. Anyhow, I have been sending some of the best condition duplicates out to get graded. I haven't gotten anything back yet but I am excited to see what I get for conditions.

    Funny how Darkhawk made it into a video.....Stunning!!! Lol!!! Are you going to display these cards?? And you should do a quick video on “Displaying your Collection”. And I mean that in terms of comics. What shelves to use....what you used....how does light affect them while displayed....how do slabs protect comics from UV damage vs. Mylars and where to display them in relation to light sources and windows. Just a thought!!!

    I have so many of these cards and about 2 years ago because of all the marvel movies and there popularity popularity I figured these cards might go up in value fortunately I was lucky enough to grow up with a dad who understood how to take care of comic books and such so they're all really great condition. Thanks for all the great information keep up the great work!

    Haven't sent any of my cards in for grading but have watched quite of few of these "reveal" videos. It's very clear to me that the graders are inconsistent at best. We are at the mercy of who the grader is and possibly what mood they are in at the time of grading.

  • @nerdycardguy8047
    @nerdycardguy8047 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I like to grade cards and love 90 MU BUT these are so hard to grade! I recently sent in 2 that I had thought were the best of the best of 100s of cards (freshly pack pulled too) and they got.....5s!!!! Perfect centering, perfect everything including surface. I inspect the hell out of the cards I send in and if I have any doubt I hold them. It was really eye opening how hard these are to grade 10. Either that or PSA just hates these cards and is sick of grading them in the backlog so is giving us bad grades to discourage us sending more LOL

    • @nerdycardguy8047
      @nerdycardguy8047 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@richardolney1822 I think I figured it out. Same thing happened to Scandell, if they are at all faded/slightest on the borders (I mean you cant tell unless you have a 10 example, its like white to slight off-white) they are automatic 5s. I don't know how it happens, but it can be an entire sealed box that you just broke and sent in and if they have that slightly less than pure white border, they are 5s! Which seems kinda harsh but it's pretty clear to me now when I compare other 10s I have to those 5s and also watching Scandell's video reveal. There are just so many nuances to grading certain sets its crazy.

    I have graded 1000+ TCG cards with PSA in the past. I find the cards that get a 6 with so real reason are due to a dent in the card somewhere. It's invisible unless you get the light to hit it in just the right way. I find a PSA 10 card with a small invisible dent goes down to a 6. I'm guessing that's what's on your Xmen card.

    Swaggle you really should have mentioned the larger context of when the Marvel cards blew up. This happened deep during lock down, once comics had already started their ascension. But also, and most importantly, there was no sports during this time. REMEMBER! And this uptick in comic cards came from SPORTS CARDS COLLECTORS and not comic collectors, who just jumped on board because every comic collector has a stash of these somewhere. Sports card collecting is really degenerates to the max ( I said what I said!) and without sports, they turned their attention to comic cards, garbage pail kids, etc. and drove up prices.
