    You went that far and trying to get the most good for the buck , I am shocked you didn't look in the bottom and just take the word of someone, plus as you said who knows what is in there or if it was installed correctly. Good luck with your work and I will hope you the best of luck with your new motor.

    I would just pull off everything possible and clean it out. I never saw you turn the motor by hand on this video, guess I missed it. I see you guys are from Elk Mound. I grew up in the Spring Valley, Plum City area. Moved away in 1977. Lucky to find any descent old cars from that area with all the salt on the roads.

    That's what's called a mouse motor converted to a rat piss motor. I'll bet it has to come out and be totally disassembled. Rat piss has probably got in the oil pump and locked it up too. Looks like they pissed down the distributor pretty regular.

  • @rickbandy3862
    @rickbandy3862 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Drop the pan! And just clean everything good, especially after "chipping that distributor shaft out. If metal or mouse turds get sucked into the oil pump it will get to the bearings and you withh have a boat anchor of an engine.

    I saw the thumbnail of those iconic body lines and had to watch. Older sister had a 63 with the 230 and a 3 on the tree. I had a 64 SS that was factory ordered with the straight six as well (grandpa was frugal and liked the trim but wanted the better mileage). So, my first car was a 6 banger that ended up with over 200,000 miles on it. You couldn't kill those straight 6's.
