2:23:20 Commentator is wrong there. Clearly Roddick’s point. Gonzo didn’t play the ball and the call wasn’t made until after the ball passed him, so the call did not affect his decision to not play that ball.

LOL....you don't know the regulations obviously. Fernando gave up on the ball and didn't play the point. Once you do that...it's over. Exactly as if Fernando had done the same and the out call wasn't made. Fernando thought it was going to be out and he made a mistake. In pro tennis, always play the ball if you can. If you are sure it was an error, then you can stop right after playing the shot and ask for a replay.....if the other guy asks for a replay and you didn't play it - you're out of luck if it was good. The ONLY chance for Gonzo to appeal that is if the audible "out" call stopped him from playing it eg. "I didn't play it BECAUSE the linesman called it out and that's why I stopped" - but that wasn't the case here (and rarely is), the linesman's audible call comes well after Fernando had let it go.

Andy Roddick, what a wasted talent. With all the weapons he had, one of the biggest serves in the game, biggest forehands my oh my. Should have won at LEAST 7 or 8 Grand Slams but only managed 1. ANOTHER American player who wanted to be famous for off the court stuff more than the tennis itself. Could have been one of the real greats but choose Hollywood famous over it
Part of Roddick's decline was that he changed his FH. During his years with Brad Gilbert in 03 and 04, he hit a flat FH which complimented his big serve. After he fired Gilbert, his new coach worked to change his FH grip so that he could generate more spin. It didn't work well, and he wound up having a weak spinny FH for the rest of his career, and it allowed other opponents to dictate play against him. They no longer needed to worry about his power from the back of the court. It made the match-up that much easier for Federer.
A theft. As usual. And Roddick was such an overrated player. got lucky with one major just because he wasn't known and the others were playing old style. Never won anything anymore. But he keeps talking to this day.

Not accurate at all. The reason he didn’t win more is simple: Roger Federer. He was just simply no match against Roger.
