Even though you've left us so suddenly Hal, your crystal clear voice can still mend our troubled souls with this special Christmas song. Bless you and your perfect voice!
I remember my mom recording this off of tv when I was a kid. She also recorded it to cassette that way we could listen to it. It would have been great if Hal had put out a holiday album.
I wish this was on a record. I am a Catholic wife, mother and grandmother and I have a very special place in my heart and my life for Mary. I was raised this way and this song is so comforting to me as a woman when I have to do the right thing I would rather not. I can feel the faithful Yes of Mary in my heart, a push of love. And it is that simple. It is just that simple.
One song that always gets me: "Mary Did You Know?" Have you heard that one? I encourage you to search for it on here. Not done by Hal, but such a beautiful song.
this is so nice, really really glad to see there are more videos from recent tour dates with johnny hiland everyone should check them out GREAt to have hal back.
If only more Christmas music had been done by Hal before his passing. This might be the only song that ever came from him, and I am guessing that a studio recording was never done. Do you have the rest of this TV special? I was only 13 back then and sadly I did not have cable. I especially would love to see Alison's performance. I've been a fan of her since 1994 when I was only 12. God bless you and her always!!! Holly (a day one fan of Hal)
Hal's wife Andrea announced his retirement on April 14, 2019, and shared that he is suffering from dementia/Alzheimer's. His last year of touring was quite a challenge for him and his family. Check out his Facebook page for information and updates.
You found it humbugfoto 1. I was going to email you to see if you ever found the video. How can I get a copy? I subscribed to your channel so that I can keep abreast of your Hal Ketchum stuff. Thank again!
I am a life long atheist..yet Hal's lovely song has me close to tears.
What a beautiful man.
Sadly we lost Hal too soon..always in our heart's..❤
I could sob every time I hear this. Hal's vocal is stunning, and the lyrics are so moving.
The technical skill of his singing is mind-boggling, the real great one gonna miss his music.
Hal Ketchum was an astonishing singer and songwriter. Gone way too soon, but not forgotten.
You were wonderful, Hal. Thank you for the gift of your music. You are loved and missed! 💔♥️

What a talent! How very sad he has M.S. It is a wretched disease.
Does anybody know the other song Hal sang on this show ? Both were great.

@crzy4dje only way to say it is wonderful
anyone know where to find the lyrics for this song please? thank you for your help!
Is this song available anywhere on CD? I'd give my eye teeth to have it on a hard copy of some sort.

Do you have the rest of this? I would love to see Alison Krauss' portion. Thanks!
I didn't see Allison Krause on the program. Do you mean Amy Grant?
Hal has been struggling with multiple sclerosis for a long time. It's to the point he can no longer tour.
Hal is touring again! As of 2016/17; just saw him perform in So Cal 3/11/17, he's better than ever!
He stopped touring again and has retired for good this time. It was announced not long ago that he’s now suffering from Alzheimer’s. 😔
Unbelievable.
