RIP Hal. My wife and I saw him at the Little Opry In Nashville Indiana around 1994. Met him outside and got his autograph. He was a very gracious man. One of the purest voices of all time. ✝️
We lost my Dad almost 5 months ago of Dementia. I know what the Ketchum family is going through. Hal was a great man that sang great music. RIP brother Hal you will be missed by everyone. Blessings from Canada. 🇨🇦🙏❤
Andrea, Saddened by news of Hal’s death. My first exposure to Hal was many many years ago when I saw him on Austin City Limits. Amongst other tunes, he played a Beatles song, which one, I don’t really remember. But I do remember saying to myself that he did such a beautiful version of it, i was stunned. I thought how can a country guy make this song so wonderful and unique. After that, I was hooked. After the troubling news of his death, I played Small Town Saturday Night, and had the revelation that Hal was really Garth Brooks before Garth even knew it and had the moved like Dwight Yocum before Dwight knew it, later in his career. I am so sorry for your loss, however, remember the contribution Hal made to music. He was a real STAR. Gary
I lost my fiance some time ago. During our courtship Hal's music was always playing. I know you are playing now for my Olivia and the rest of the angels in Heaven.
How heart breaking this news is to me. I was in a and in the mid-90s when Hal was at his peak. We jumped at the chance to open for him in Lancaster PA. Our band was given 1 hotel room next to where Hal’s tour bus was. He came off the bus and we took pictures and He signed autographs for us to add to our portfolio. We went back to our room to wait for showtime and got a knock at the door.We opened the door and a man with a cart full of food and beverages was standing there. I proceeded to tell the man that I think he had the wrong room, he replied” No Mr.Ketchum sent this over for you guy’s”! We were all blown away by his generosity. I am so sorry to hear this news and I wish him and his family all the best wishes. Hal is an extraordinary kind and talented human being and it was my honor to have met him. Thank you for all the music and all the memories Hal, God Bless!
i am local, in Gansevoort and want Hal to know we are praying for him and thank him for his music over the years. Small town Saturday night was a favorite, I know was written about Greenwich as it was a rowdy place back it the day. My step dad suffered from this terrible disease, although his mind slipped he could always remember the words to hymns and old tractors.....we would often ride around the area looking for old tractors that he could "doll up". My mother always complained that we would waste more money than he ever made but the time I got to share with him was priceless! Let Hal know we are "in his corner" and if you ever need anything just call. God bless!!!!
What a wonderful voice...sure miss him. He was one in a million. Great personality, such a pleasant smile. Heard him at a club right after the passing of his Dad. It was one awesome performance that I will never forget
My heart goes out to Hal's family. My dad played a guitar all of his life and played with some of the old Bluegrass groups of the 40s. He taught me to play and wed get together and pick and hed sing some of those old Country, Gospel and Bluegrass songs with his deep voice. Great times to be alive. As Alzheimers progressed on him, he slowly lost all of his musical talents but hed still try. One day he got so frustrated that he slammed his guitar against the front door knob and knocked a hole in it. After that I called it his signature guitar because he died about a month later. I still have that guitar nearly 30 years later and it still has his signature on it. I still take it out and play it and change the strings on it now and then and it still sounds as good as it did when he played it. Pretty soon Ill be the same age he was when he passed. R.I.P. Dad and Hal.
Thank you Hal for the the years of wonderful music. I’m terribly sorry to hear of your current struggle, but please know I will continue to keep you in my prayers.
I had the great good luck to see Hal live in Ireland in 2008, when my kids gave me tickets to his show for my 50th birthday. An absolutely fabulous, memorable night. My wife still asks if there is a chance to see Hal Ketchum again. Sadly, I'll have to tell her it won't be possible. All the best of good luck to him. He has left some major memories imprinted here.
So sorry!! I remember the first time I heard him. I bought his 8 tracks and played them over and over! He has struggled but the voice has stayed the same. What a wonderful man. Praying for Hal and his family during this trying time! Love & prayers!!!
Always wondered what happened to you Hal...sorry to hear..I love your music and play it often ..lol I dont... have your voice...I still pay tribute to you and Bob Warner ..watching you play on the Main street ..Greenwich..we were just kids...I lost my wife in 04.24 ..I know where love lives and Sure Love always reminds me of her...Our Good Times RIP Hal

Damn, came on YT to listen to some Charlie Pride after hearing he passed just to find out Hal passed as well. I used to listed to Hal all the time back in my 20's. Loved his version of On the Wings of a Dove and wore out my Past the Point of Rescue CD.
I saw him in Ireland and also my daughter who was almost 7 at the time and I got to meet him. He told her he had a little girl too called Ruby. He did a great show in the Helix. Sending strength to Hal and his family.

I remember Small Town Saturday Night and I related to it when it first came out cos my home town was a small town and Saturday Nights were the night to get all dudded up and go out. When I was a teenager we didn’t have a McDonald’s restaurant but we had a Sonic Drive In and a Pizza Hut really close to each other (probs a block apart from each other. Now times have changed and there’s no longer a Pizza Hut in that same location and I wish times were simpler and our teenagers had something to do besides games on their cell phones or internet cos in my day and time I’d go to dances. We don’t even a drive inn theater anymore!
My condolences to the family!I first heard of his songs in the early 2003and ever since I loved listening to his music! He will be missed greatly!RIP Hal...
Never gonna forget this guy. Your music was my life. Continue to play "Past the Point of Rescue" over and over and over. RIP bro. You were the best.
