Snowboarding has always been expensive, it just all adds up, and the problem with trying to save on cheap gear is that you’ll eventually have to end up buying quality if you stick with, if you can afford a season pass it will save you yes, and most of all bring your own food, if you go once a year maybe not, but if you go several times a week prepare your meal beforehand, I always had this little propane bbq and I’ll grill my own cheeseburgers in the parking lot or grab a Subway sandwich and chips and a big jug of water before you head up the mtn, my teens, 20’s and early 30’s I was going multiple times a week during the season especially because my local mtn has night boarding, and so I’d try and be smart about it, and you’ll learn as you go so experience will pay off too
Yes agreed, it does get expensive… especially with the addition of kids. Like you, I’m also taking prepared food and my portable gas cooker to reheat leftovers etc. I’ve saved at least 1/3 of our usual cost by doing this, which adds up over the entire season 😎
I will stop complaining about lift prices in Austria now. Small resort, 15 minutes drive 45€ for the day (no park there though). Bigger Resort 1h drive 55-60€ for the day. Huge resort 2h drive 65-70€ for the day
And this is why I haven't been on a mountain in 4 years. I used to be able to go after school for $30-$40 for night riding. I just cant verify spending $100 for a day at the mountain, It shouldnt be like this.
