Tying the Mulch Minnow for perch, bass, trout

  • A remake of a fly I tied and used mainly for perch last season. Slightly sparser with the bucktail and a closer resemblance to the minnow colours we find over here in the UK. It's a very quick fishing fly, which I use mostly on the dropper with a heavier point fly. Double hook-ups are common.
    Materials:
    Ahrex NS172 sz4
    Veevus GSP100
    Nayat (snow runner) black
    Squimpish Hair in Mulch
    Bucktail in tan and white
    Veniard Glister dub in orange
    6mm Yellow tape eyes

Many thanks for the video Paul. I think this fly is usable for: "asp"

    Hi Paul
Great video. I have not handled Squimpish hair but have read the sales pitch. Do you use it as an alternative to bucktail or has it worthwhile properties that bucktail or other synthetics don’t have? Thanks! Alan

I use it to add a little length sometimes over bucktail or subtle colour shift. I wouldn't use it to replace bucktail

Dear Paul, your bucktail looks great! Which company you recommend? Thx

A lot of mine is Waspi as I'm close to a Danish distributer. Always contact the shop first and explain what you are looking for in a bucktail. Being a natural material every tail is different. One man bad bucktail is another mans good
