  • Flashtail flies have been around forever in various incarnations.
This one I tied up for perch this year, which has been a good producer for various predatory fish.

I always appreciate how simple you keep things when you give a tutorial on how to make a fly. Takes the mystery out of fly tying and brings it to a level where people shouldn't be scared to give something a go. On a side note it's my personal mission to get your subscribers higher more people need to watch your videos!

Hi Paul, another excellent pattern.....I’ve come back to pike fishing with a fly (* usually salmon, sea trout and trout) and I find your videos really great to follow..... you and Nicklaus Bauer the best by far.... I do think your previous filming angle was better tbh..... easy to understand the proportions of the dressing. Keep up the good work.....will you be at the BFFI ( if it’s on....)?

Very kind...yes I agree the previous angle is better so will revert back. I'm on tyer row in 2021, and hope it goes ahead. Though the way things are looking I can't see it happening. Real shame, but health comes first

Really nice pattern. What was the product to finish the eyes with?

I use gorilla glue clear now I discovered i don't have an allergy to it.

Hi Paul! I really like this technique! I would just like to add a little more horizontal movement. The jig gives only vertical movement of the lure. There is no way I can achieve this unless I secure the blade upward. The angle of the scapula with the hook should be 90 °. Other than how to increase the density of the material in the streamer's head, do you have any solution? It seems to me that it would be a BOMB!

Try a balanced jig. I don't tie them but there is quite a few trout tyers that do

I abandoned this camera angle pretty quickly. Like you said the lighting wasn't right
