  • Ever since this was announced at CES 2022, we've had our eyes on the Samsung Freestyle! Samsung Malaysia was kind enough to send over a review unit to us, to try out in person.
Keep in mind, these are just our first impressions, not a full review. So everything I'm talking about in this video is just from experiencing it for about a week or two.
    Priced at - RM4,999
Full review, once done, will be posted to our website here - TBD
How useful is this tiny little device? Watch to find out!

Picture quality pristine clarity that blew me away at 100”, 75”, 65”, just stunning. I love the simplicity & minimalist design of such a high clarity device with a tv os built right in. Samsung should stick to what they do best & that is cutting edge hardware, & amazing screens and phones that run snap dragon processors. Samsung must stop trying to engineer & design software as their engineer app developers need to go back to school. This tizen os destroyed the futuristic simplicity of the freestyle. The problem is they do not possess the technological advances to keystone a precise picture on a wall when the projector is not perfectly centered. When the projector is sitting diagonal displaying the digital keystone will warp out of line every 15 minutes & there is a rectangular dim offset framing, shining around the actual picture. Its just heart breaking that they are just not there yet and being a billion dollar company they will never listen and never advance their software skills. Tizen os subjects users to an extremely slow process. Lagging navigation is horrible and so sad. Connecting micro hdmi to Apple tv is flawless but creates a bulky equipment that destroys the simplicity of the freestyle. Why didn’t Samsung partner with google tv os or preferably Apple which is the leader in refined perfection of software? Why why why. Having the ability to use the internet was amazing, but takes forever as tizen is just simply trash software, trash processor and a tradey indeed. Once you get to watch the clarity and proficiency of the tv- its pure high quality high brightness perfection at Samsungs best because they are hardware specialist and a tragedy with software. Hopelessly waiting for Samsung to wake up.

How is the visibility in a not so dark room? Does it need to be really dark for it to be clearly seen,ie outdoor as promoted?

Hi Fahman! You may refer to 4:11 in the video for a demonstration of it. Its visible is a relatively well lit room, but not a bright room. Definitely recommend using it in a medium to dark lit room.

You said the contrast ratio is 100,000:1 but when I check online it says the contrast is only 300:1 contrast ratio.

Samsung Freestyle's 0.23'' DMD chip compromises its image quality and brightness. I love its design but I decided to buy Halo+.

You call this a first impression, but it looks an awful lot like an ad.
