Very plain spoken (think "Brooklyn"), very thorough, very clear, and great repetition to point out the potential pitfalls. Avoids all confusion (even the "clockwise" "counterclockwise") by clearly showing EXACTLY what has to be done to avoid mistakes and common problems. Kudos to you for this excellent DIY video!!!
The clockwise/counterclockwise resetting of the brake sensor with a t40 wrench became a bit confusing. The video shows you turning it clockwise to screw it all the way in. You couldn't decide if you were going clockwise as if facing the part or counterclockwise with your left hand. Otherwise this was in excellent comprehensive video. Thanks!
Sorry for that confusion. You turn it clockwise as if you were tightening a bolt. I know I said counterclockwise that was wrong but in the video I’m turning it clockwise.
@@motorcarnut I since have compressed it, without the motor attached...and it seems to work, but the "Parking Brake Malfunction" is on. looking on youtube, it appears that this can be reset. Soon to try it.
Great video man!…one ?…Do you “need to disconnect the plug from the electrical brake or can you leave it plugged into the electrical unit?..Is there any difference in leaving it or not leaving it plugged in?…Thanks man😁

Thank you bro, really appreciate the feedback and you are 100% correct about Brooklyn born and raised!!!
*Very good instructions and clear video. Thank you so much. This was very helpful.*
You're very welcome! Thanks for the comment!
Wear sensors work by breaking the circuit of the wires in the sensor. Not grounding , just for future reference
True! But some work on grounding as well. Thanks for the comment!
Great job explaining this process.
Glad it was helpful! Appreciated!
Thank you for this helpful video. Details well explained. 👍
Glad it was helpful! Feedback appreciated!

i saw another video its clockwise hes turning it clockwise
thanks!
Good video. You’re right, it be better to use a caliper retractor instead of a clamp. Thanks
Thank you! and thanks for the comment
and its clockwise on the gear turn
I'm assuming the scan tool electronically screws instead of taking the parking brake motor off and doing it manually correct?
Yes
Would this work on a 2022 BMW X3?
Yes, it should pretty similar.
Thank you!
No problem
Clockwise... But what happens if the plunger does not go back far enough to allow the caliper to go over the brakes? It need another 1/2" or more
Did you try compressing it while turning it in?
@@motorcarnut I since have compressed it, without the motor attached...and it seems to work, but the "Parking Brake Malfunction" is on. looking on youtube, it appears that this can be reset. Soon to try it.
Yes that should solve it.
Did you have to put the car into maintenance mode? Or just take off the electronic module and reverse the caliper?
No you don’t.
you probably should always clean and put new grease in the slider pins.
Absolutely
Thanks for that . GREAT
You're welcome!
might want to redo that clockwise counter clockwise its clockwise good vedo
You're correct, I show clockwise but say counter clockwise. Must od been a long day.

No problem. If it's not in the way, leave it connected. If you do disconnect it, it may throw a code but should reset itself.
@@motorcarnut and its clockwise on the gear turn
you were turning it clockwise... when looking from the star wrench.
Counter clockwise is correct
great information, ty
Glad it was helpful!
The sensor for the brake wear is on all BMWs, on the INNER brake pad !!!
Correct
I know throughout you said things you have to have , and things that could be helpful……do you mind throwing down a list for the sake of my brain
Just pause the video on the information you need. I can barely catch up to the comments
I know about the tool. I seen it in the other video that is identical to this besides the tool.
Ok
Clockwise or counter clockwise???? because your turning it too the right in the video that IS clockwise not counter clockwise
Yes, clockwise
Over engineering....jeez
Not really, better vehicles are better built and unfortunately more complicated
