    Thanks Rob, this is a very good comparison and accurate test. I would agree basically a tie, although if I was in the middle of a cook I would not want to have to open up cooker and rekindle the charcoal like you did with the JD. That might give the edge to the good charcoal in my opinion. Can’t go wrong with either one, both did very well.

    I've actually found a restaurant in my area who is a partner with good charcoal and this was another good advertisement for me. It burned hotter so no need to use as much. May of had the same temp w/about 2lbs even

    Beer is much much cheaper at home than the bar. You made the right decision.

    Hey nice work! I’ve been using and loving the Jealous Devil charcoal but it’s a bit expensive at $24.99 (on sale) at my local Academy Sports for a 20lb bag. I just picked up a 15.4 lb bag of the good charcoal company from Sam’s club for $11.98. Looking forward to trying the good charcoal in the Akorn ceramic and Akorn Jr.

      Thanks man! I found Tractor Supply has the Jealous Devil on sale for about a dollar a pound sometimes (with free shipping if you're a member). That's a good price for the good charcoal - I think it's $20 at home depot for the 15.4 lb bag. Let me know how large your chunks are, that's my only hangup with the bag I got.

      @@RobsBackyardBBQ yea I’m a fan of the larger chunks of coal. I’ll let you know how my bag of good charcoal is.

      Personally love the good charcoal company. Did a huge surf and turf grill two weeks ago and 3 pounds was more than enough to serve over 20 people

      I always find 20 lb bags of JD lump charcoal at Walmart for about 20-22 bucks.

    I love that I barely have to babysit my chimney whenever I use JD.

    I like these comparisons. Would like to know how they did in a taste test side by side. I'm a bit of an oddball and like the taste of charcoal and been loving the B&B hickory in the Akorn as I don't have to add wood chunks for a smoke flavor. Yet there are some times I don't want a charcoal taste or less of one at least. Would like to know which is stronger or has less flavor or if they are similar. Just a suggestion, feel free to tell me to shut the heck up...LOL Good comparison, thanks!

    I bought a bag of the Good Charcoal charcoal. I believe it was $11.98 at Sam's Club. Definitely has mostly small pieces. I have to struggle to keep it in the starter. Shame because it seems to burn well albeit with a good bit of popping.

    • @RobsBackyardBBQ
      @RobsBackyardBBQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, i hear ya. When I told them it was too small, they did say they're working on producing larger chunks. They sent me mine as a single bag UPS, which probably didn't help things since i'm sure UPS banged it around a bunch on the way to my house. Best to find at a store where they get it delivered it on pallets (home depot?) so it's not jarred around as much. Though, i'm sure Sam's gets it in bulk.

      I’ve ordered both online and picked up from Sam’s club and yes. Picking up in store means larger chunks but regardless am still a huge fan of the good charcoal

    Good comparison Rob. I've been using FOGO, a little pricey but good lump is.

    Great video. Were these freshly opened bags. It seemed like you were at the bottom of the Good Charcoal bag resulting in smaller pieces.

    Still JD for me just too many unusable small charcoal in the good charcoal for me. If they could just have better size would be a killer product. Thanks for sharing this!

      Awesome, let me know what you think. I think i'm sticking with JD for now just because of the chunk sizes.. though, you can see they oth burn just as long.
