Sir, on my ship i had conventional cooling system, cooled by sw. we saw lub oil in expansion tank, we suspected any of the generator lub oil cooler was leaking. sir, i want to know other reason too, from where it could be possible oil can leak into expansion tank. so, that if this situation arises in future i would be competent enough to solve problem. Please enlighten me.
Normally l.o cooler is cooled by sea water but in your case cooling water is cooling l.o cooler is out of the box. Always any problem comes check your line diagram. Possible if quills leak u vl have to check how is the installation
But there is seperate thermostat which recirculated Lt water back n back till required temperature is achieved, if you see the line diagram ull understand

Sir, why not HT water not used to cool generator cylinder liner??
It is used for cylinder liner cooling, very rarely for generator Lt water is used to save pipeline

There is controller provided for LT also and still temp is not maintaing u run two SW pumps or u will have clean Lt coolers
