Your reviews keep getting better and better !
I’ve owned the 100F since it was released but a little more than a year ago it became my backup camera. I bought an XT4 for a couple of reasons. Since I shoot a lot in the rain and snow I wanted something weatherproof. I also moved to the suburbs and shoot a lot late at night so for the first time in my photography career I wanted image stabilization and with the xt4 using f4 at iso 1600 handheld is a reality. And finally my aging feet and joints are catching up with me and my will to zoom with my feet has changed. I only have a couple of complaints about the x100F. No weather sealing comes first and not having a 4:3 crop is second, besides that I love the camera and I think the complaints about the lens and auto focus by those who live on camera forms is unwarranted. Fuji gave me one of the first original x100 cameras off the assembly line and I was blown away that a digital camera had all the controls I needed on the body. I wish I kept that camera.
Also the Fuji xPro1 is the only digital camera that William Eggleston owns

Thank you very much. I must admit that I really enjoy the editing process…. When I get the time to do it 😅
I completely agree, the lack of weather sealing is an issue. XT4 you say 🤔 might have to look into that 😅
F4 at ISO 1600 handheld is amazing. Reminds me of the Olympus EM5 with 5 way image stabilisation…. It’s unreal what can be achieved handheld.
Wow, the first X100 off the production 😳 very cool
Yeah Xpro 1 is a very balanced camera in an analog style 👌

I'm not a camera person; thus two Lumix LX3s (the second has just broken) and a s/h X100F (purchased a couple of years ago, avoiding the chip shortage and tik-to hype). Still learning and just taking the unusual when it catches my eye. This camera, like you and many others have said, is a conversation starter, even having random people shouting out in the street; nice camera!
The jpeg option sometimes doesn't work, ie I chose the wrong pre-loaded recipe, no problem I've got a RAW file, which I can later waste many hours of my life in post-production, often ruining the shot when I go back to view it days later, more is more, but often more is Victoriana/Post Modernism compared with the uncluttered purity of Modernism, bare concrete and exposed galvanised conduits, lovely function over form (I grew up in the 1960-70s, all modernist futurism, no looking back).
Great video. Made me laugh, and I confess I often take images of the machines in Launderettes, again function. ha ha .....

Nice video. One thing I absolutely loved about the x100f when I had one was film simulation bracketing. Always had standard, classic chrome and acros. Only shot jpeg on this too as even a jpeg file has decent latitude for editing.
My heart skipped a beat when I seen the gx80. The only camera I’ve bought twice. Such an underrated gem (I love the 4:3 aspect and often crop to this anyway). And if you get the 15mm you have the aperture ring.
However. You never mentioned Bougeeboiz or the Bougee Mafia. Thumbs down and unsubscribed.
Ohhh - a little tease of the Olympus E500? Are you using this also?

Man that's awesome that you owned the GX80 twice.. It looks like a beast of a camera. I was and am still tempted. Is the GX85 pretty much the same camera? I notice the GX80 goes for a little more that 85..
Man you're right ... Totally forgot the Bougee boiz!! To be honest my computer froze up with the size of this video, hence the abrupt ending :D
Yeah now its the E500 that's going to get some special treatment. And glad to have you on board again ;D

    • @paulanderson24
      @paulanderson24 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@shutterslaps4938 yea I genuinely regretted letting the gx80 go. If you do look into one, get it with the little kit lens. It’s actually really good and if you don’t want it, can be traded in for a decent penny.
The gx85 is indeed the same camera but just called that in the us. It’s also called the gx7 mk ii in Japan. Check out David Thorpes review on here if it. I also see quite a few more recent videos raving about it in the last year or so. MrLeica was impressed with it too.
I’ll never let my m8 go but it’s always worth checking ebay as someone will want to part ways with one for a good deal and quick sale. It’s really a holy grail camera

I’m watching this video long after it was made. I would like to make some comments though about some of the things he said. First of all he referred to the STD setting has no film simulation. That’s not true. The STD setting is the Provia simulation. in regards to his comments about skin tones, I would recommend using the ASTIA simulation. I was shooting film when Fuji announced the new film ASTIA. According to Fujis literature at the time, the “AST” in ASTIA stood for “Accurate Skin Tones”. At the time, Provia was my “go to” color film after trying ASTIA, I switched to ASTIA. ASTIA was essentially Provia with a more nuanced skin tone rendering. He said that he sometimes gets good skin tones with STD. But as I said, STD is Provia. He never mentions trying the ASTIA simulation.

Your work is so beautiful. What a fantastic eye you have for good light! I have the XE-2s and love the ability to use interchangeable lenses as it’s my only foot in the FUJIFILM experience. But I envy the aesthetics of the x100 series and love that it has an ovf and iso dial! Was the X-Pro 1 compact enough to be an everyday carry for you? I’m considering switching from my XE-2s to the X-Pro 2 to get the best of both worlds, but only if the body doesn’t feel like I’m lugging around a brick haha I’ve never seen one in person to reference.

I've had the X100F for a year now using only two sims (natural colour & Acros with green filter) and of course the fixed lens. Hear'n ya bro, I am a Jpeg shooter and what got me into the Fuji X system in the first place was the film simulations (me being an ex photo lab rat from the mid 90's might of had something to do with that) BUT also I don't have the time to sit in front of a PC on light room for hours on end. Put me in a darkroom, well that's a different story I could happily spend DAYS on end under a Red safe light snif'n Dev, Fixer n' stop bath. Oh those were the days, God I miss them
