I've owned S, T, and F models. To me the X100T is the best version. Image quality is already great. No need for focus joystick added in the F version. No need for ISO selection dial. I had one button to switch between 200 and auto ISO and it covered 99.9% of my needs.

I picked up my x100T also a few months ago. I got mine for about 450.00. But it's minty with no issues. and had less than 1k shots.. I found mine on Ebay
I got the T about 2 months ago. My other camera is an xt20. The viewfinder of the T is in auto brightness and always looks underexposed. The lcd looks good but I don’t like to use it. Also the buffering is too slow but I don’t know if is because I am used to faster cameras or is my sd card.
I have the S. I've thought of upgrading many times, but I think you've just saved me some cash. So thank you. It's always great to get unbiased opinions.
I’ve been using the S since 2014 and it’s the one and only camera that I’ve missed when I forgot to bring it with me when I travel. I also think that with the old lens, 16MP is the sweet spot, which is also why I didn’t go for the F when it came out. I bought the V a few days ago and I absolutely love the tilting screen and the sensor/lens combination. Also, weather sealing means I won’t have to worry about it in the rain. It is the ultimate refinement for the classic X100 series in 2020. I will be keeping both since I really like the characteristics of the S’s sensor/lens combination, and I do agree with you that if I have a limited budget and can only get one of them, it would be the S.
I've got the S and love it. The 16M sensor doesn't expose the flaw of the lens. Also it doesn't require higher shutter speed to combat camera shake. This is one of my cameras that I don't feel any need to upgrade.
These are all awesome cameras. I actually still shoot with my Fujifilm X10, bought new in 2012. The sensor is smaller than the x100, but it has a nice zoom, manual controls, and looks great. Oh, it takes tack-sharp images.
This was such a great comparison! I've been shooting with the X100 since it came out and only had the itch for an upgrade recently. No matter what gen you have, the X100 is such a great camera to shoot with. I can't wait to see what the fifth gen will be like.

Hi, 👋 so, I’ve got this x100s ( U$ 750) who seems to be really conserved, and then there’s this x10 wich seems to be new too, and it costs U$ 512. So, I wanted to save some money if I could, since my daddy isn’t at the best conditions right now, do you think the x100s is worthy the price in comparison to the x10s? Sorry I’m new at photography 🤧
I sort of have a love-hate relationship with the x100 series. I bought an S, then sold it. Felt bad so bought another one. Used it on and off then upgraded to an F and eventually sold it. The advantage of the F was the batteries are the same as my X-T2 and X-H1 as well as major upgrade in focusing.. Fortunately I bought them used as they tend to plummet in value. It's almost worth it for the leaf shutter flash advantages alone which are awesome. I finally decided that I don't "see the world" in the 35mm construct like most people claim and that the 50mm equiv seems to be the ticket, at least in my view. I wasn't enamored with the teleconverter, may as well just have an interchangeable lens camera. So I decided to use the proceeds to buy the 35mm f1.4 for my X-H1 and pocket the remaining cash for now. It's been happily bolted to the camera for awhile now and that's working out well. Who knows, maybe I'll get bit by the 100 bug again down the road..
Brilliant review, and so rare to get a no-nonsense look across a complete range particularly when you are looking at a possible purchase. Thank you so much.
I currently have the S. It's pretty amazing that these go for only around $300. It's a great sophisticated bag/travel cam and while I do like the 'specs' of the F/V, for my use it's certainly not worth the extra $1000. Great vid as always.
Great summary and comparison Matt. One of the features which had me sell my used OG X100 for a used X100T was WiFi. I love printing photos to the Instax SP-2 directly from the camera.
I have an F but upgraded to the V when it was released mainly for the weather sealing I found a lot of situations when I couldn't use the F when travelling because of heavy downpours. For me thst makes the V a worthy upgrade.
I’ve never had an x100 before,so I purchased the x100v and loving it. I do a lot of close up shooting, and the new lens is sharp. I compared it with a new x100f at the a camera store and its really sharper at f2 and close up.
I bought a black “S” approx four months ago. I live in the NYC metro area and before COVID-19 hit I was shooting street photography with it almost daily. It’s a hell of a camera and I’m extremely pleased with it. It holds up very well compared to more modern cameras and would highly recommend it to anyone for Street and travel Photography.
Interesting choice. I own a X100S for several years now and I love it. Never really wanted to upgrade, until the X100V came out. The decision isn't made yet, because it is a lot of money and I do not really need it. But I'd appreciate the higher resolution and the tilting screen might be a really useful option too. Well, I think I will rent one and try it. A really great comparison by the way!
You might be disappointed. I loved the images that I got with the "s". The change in the sensor just isn't the same. I wish they'd come out with one that had that sensor in it and everything else new. I've owned them all but the V and I still miss the "S".
Wow thank you!! This really is a helpful video! I bought my first Fuji camera in 2018. A used x100s. Best choice I’ve made. It has turned me into a Fuji fanboy. Thinking really hard of upgrading to the V now🤔
I had the F and jumped on the V without hesitation. Even in landscapes and well stopped down the old lens didn't have a chance againts the new one which is visibly better even on moderately sized prints. Lens- and sensor-perfomance really have a love-affair again in the V and you can just shoot along knowing that the optical quality will hardly ever let you down under any circumstances.
I'm a former Canon user. I bought my first Fuji last year. It was a Finepix S1 that I got for a great price. As much as I love the camera, I've already found myself pushing some of it's limits. I appreciate your breakdown of the X100 series, as it's helping me learn more about the unique models that Fuji has made for the photography community. I've used cameras with flip out LCDs before. Once you use one, the flexibility it offers you makes it difficult to go back to fixed LCDs. I also like weather resistant cameras, as I do a lot of outdoor photography (I also sometimes grab the camera to take macro shots with my grubby hands, while I'm in the workshop).
X100V all the way. I owned the X100F and then I sold it because it never felt refined compared to my other Fuji cameras. The X100V is super refined and the tilting screen is very useful. I also own the XT3, and XT4.
Thank you for this great video. I choosed the X100 because I found one for 200 euros in a very good shape. Also, it's a way to get used to the X100 series and see how I feel with that, on time. I know that the image quality still is very good. I am a slower user. I think that the cmos sensors have something special...
I have the S since 2013, bought used. I love it still and don’t feel the need to upgrade it. Size is perfect and fits in your pocket. Miss WiFi but happy with it!
I had the original X100, sold it, missed it and bought it again. After that I had a X100S which I really loved to shoot with. Man I really like that sensor! In 2018 I bought the X100F which I still use. I don’t think I will buy the X100V. My favourites are the X100F and the X100S.
Interesting reading the comments. I have had the S for a long time now and it does everything I want. I've used it also to video my band on many occasions (obviously handing it over to someone else for the gig) and it has done a great job of that too. I'll keep it till it falls apart on me. Super everyday camera.
Hi Matt...long time follower. Love your content! I’ve had my S since it was first released and it’s by far my most used camera. The 4 way controller wheel became unresponsive/glitchy so I sent it into Fuji for repair. I spoke with them earlier today...since it’s and older model and they no longer have parts, they offered me a brand new X100T as a replacement for $390. I jumped at the offer! Thought this might be useful for someone out there with an older model looking to upgrade. Happy New Year!
Matt, thank you for your comprehensive historical review of the X100 Fuji series. I recently went from the 100F to the 100V for the new lens, the weather proofing, and the beautifully integrated tilting screen among other features. And yes, I just couldn't resist the handsome industrial design in silver. I use my 100V as my everyday camera, and my minimalist street and travel camera. Lovin' every minute!
I agree with your choice! After using multiple fujis over the years, each sensor has a distinctive look, and the 16mp really has a beautiful natural quality to it that my current X H1 doesn't quite match
This. I don’t know what it is but the X-Trans II is my favorite sensor. I’ve owned many Fuji bodies but the X-E2 (which my son just inherited) and my new (to me) X100T (replacing my ‘lost’ X-E2) make gorgeous JPEGs. I like the others but that II is my favorite. I also own the X-H1 .. oh that shutter mechanism.. but still prefer colors from the X-Trans II.
I think you forgot to mention that the x100v is the first one which got weather sealing. This might be a big deal for some. The weather sealing, the bigger battery, resolution, lens and tilting screen made me upgrade from x100t to x100v. But I don't like the OLED viewfinder.
Good point re the weather sealing mate this and the flip screen to save the old knees a bit would be my main justifications for upgrading from the incredible F.
I bought an X100F in December 2019 to replace an aging Sony digital camera. I'm used to 35 mm film SLR's but wanted a handy small high quality 'carry around' camera when I didn't want to carry around a bulky SLR with a bagful of lenses. At first I was daunted and confused by the plethora of features and controls on the exterior of the camera but now that I've become more accustomed to it I really like it..especially the built-in film simulations and built-in neutral density filter. And the non-interchangeable lens is not really an impediment for me..I find myself concentrating on composition and the built-in digital 'short zoom' capability is fine for my purposes. The only complaint I have is the placement of the 'Q' button; I've pressed it accidentally with my thumb on numerous occasions at a critical moment but that is a function of simply keeping in mind where I place my right thumb when grasping the camera. Other than that a wonderful photographic instrument I have no regrets at laying out the cash for it. And it simply looks 'retro cool'..reminds me of the classic film rangefinder cameras. The X100V came out the month after I bought my X100F..I don't feel slighted at the least that I didn't wait for the new model.
Bought a silver copy of the S about half year ago, 330 CND with a "Fujifilm" leather case, a charger and a metal hood. Loving this little thing and shooting on it frequently.
@@freddjensen9556 It isn't great… Especially compared to the newer X100s. Totally useable, though. If I were shooting street style, I would use zone focusing. The best AF in a small camera I have ever used was the Leica Q.
I’ve had the S, T and F and I’d say the T is the sweet spot. It’s way speedier than the S and for me the Wi-Fi capability is essential given that I shot with the film simulations and post to social media mostly. One advantage of the F is greater crop-ability due to those extra megapixels, but the Q button drives me crazy (so easy to accidentally click) and you can’t turn it off.
Great comparison! I've own a 100S from 2020, and the quality and practicality for every day shooting is fantastic for me. My 12yo daughter also loves it!
Matt: Your video is THE best comparison available today, IMHO. Following your arguments, really any of these from the S onwards, is worth buying today, and they are distinguished perfectly in the used market by each's price differential. Perhaps the S is the best value overall. In the past, I had both the original and the S and made many memorable images with both. The "soft wide open" problem is overblown; certainly it never spoiled any of my shots and I usually shot at ƒ2 or 2.8. The ND filter is excellent and the built-in flash is amazing for fill.
I just picked up an X100F (second time owning) for $630 with a Gariz half case, lensmate thumb grip, and a squarehood. Unless you really need the tilt screen for waist shooting, the weather sealing, or better lens for up close, I think the F is the one to buy right now if you can hunt for a deal. It still holds up perfectly well right now in 2022 and will for years to come I imagine.
@@inquisitvem6723 yeah who knew the market would go crazy like this? I thought about selling it for a profit now but I still enjoy using it from time to time so I don’t think I will. These prices are insane though
I would definitely choose the V-it has the latest film simulations, which is one of the best reasons to shoot Fuji, plus I frequently wished my X-E3 had a tilting screen, so theres that too. Plus weather sealing. Also, USB-C. I hate micro USB...
I have the T model, but I’m going to get the V due to the new better lens and the flippy screen. Also love that it now has awesome video capabilties. It’s a no brainer for my use
Great video Matt, great to see all of the lineup together. I'm from the UK and I bought the 100F to use in a family New York trip at the end of March which obviously got cancelled, but this is a great little light weight camera for every day occasions :) Loving it so far :)
I have the X100S, since it first came out and love it. I then bought an XE1 and a 27mm pancake. Out of the two I still tend to use the X100S - for me there is just something about the "image" that comes from this compared to the XE1 with the 27mm. Will I be upgrading? - no love what my X100S does.
I owned the S for two Jears. Had so much fun with this almost not perfect camera. I was never interested in shooting videos but I get the V now. It's a great camera but it's not a 5th edition of the x 100. It's a NEW video camera!
Hi Matt.Nice review, as usual ! With the X100T, Fuji introduced wi-fi communication that allows the camera to be controlled remotely by a phone, or for rapid file transfert and geotagging . This was a deal breaker for me when I was looking for a used version of this camera.
I've played with the WiFi control on my camera. A big feature it's lacking is the ability to do a focus lock. The app is pretty much useless without the ability to focus.
Always good to see a comparison like this, helps me feel good about my X100s I purchased new back when it was new to the market. I actually like the "flaw" in the lens, but then I always have the luxury of having other cameras when I need ultimate in sharpness.
I just picked mine up for $900 in Silver 10/10 condition with the manuals, box, and extra accessories. Such a beautiful camera. I was going to get the X100V but the price is not worth it and I really like the D-Pad on the F because they remove the D-Pad in the V.
I have the T and I'm quite satisfied with it. I bought it as a travel / street cam and it fits the role perfectly, no regrets buying. Although I think Fuji is stuck now with the naming since the next one will be sixth and seventh and they've already used the "s" in second.
They used F in the 4th gen and that's why they went with V as in the roman numeral. I'm thinking next gen, they will us R for roku, i.e. 6 in japanese. Then for 7, N for nana, reserving H for hachi (8) ....
I don't mind the tilt screen of the V. What bugged me about the V was the removal of the D-Pad. Sure touch screens are nice for touch to focus, but I use my camera up to my face, and tapping isn't very useful. I know you can program the touch screen for swipes, but I rather press a button instead of swiping for my presets. That's why I'll keep my x100F a little longer instead of upgrading.
Absolutely, I find the D-Pad gives you a lot of useful costumisation options for auto-ISO settings, white balance, continous shooting and so on. With the removal of the D-Pad Fuji limited the options of the X100V.
I chose the X100V because of the improved lens. I do not like the idea of a lens that it is markedly soft wide open or close up. The weather/dust sealing was an important consideration, too.
I agree with you. I have owned the x100, s, T, and F. I LOVED the x100, but it was just too slow! The s was awesome and sometimes I wish I hadn't traded it in for the T. There was something about the image quality with the s that was magic and not repeated in the following versions. I sold the T and bought the F, which I wasn't intending to do but a friend of mine really wanted my camera. I like the F a LOT. I have never noticed a problem with the lens. At least VERY rarely. The V doesn't attract me too much. I prefer the silver version. One thing you didn't mention is a Thumb Rest. I bought one for the x100 and it really made a big improvement for me. Unfortunately, as little as they changed the body between versions, I had to buy a new Thumb Rest for each camera. I do like the new battery that they came out with in the F, I think, or was it the T? It lasts me all day. I have LOTS of cameras, but I keep coming back to the x100f especially for street, family, events, especially events or venues where you want to NOT be noticed, It is very low key, but also the most beautiful camera I have ever owned. Nice review. I might eventually get the V, but right now I'm still loving my F.
For me it was between the S and the T and I ended up buying the T. My choice was mainly focused around price - I was finding T models that weren't much more than S models, and in some cases at the same price, so when I found one with 1700 shutter clicks at a great price I got it. The T also has some additional features that I like.
Wow! Good video. The Fujiverse thanks you for taking the time to do the historical overview. Plus, I agree with you about the added benefit of the tilting screen.
great job, Matt! I have the F model and love it! I like the build quality, size, and the wide range of setting you have from a really "take with camera" keep safe and keep up the Great work! Thanks
X100 for me. I already have it and does the work perfectly. You get used to the quirks of it and find workarounds with experience. I won't be upgrading until it falls apart.
Forget 'street' - not sure what that is anyway - this is the best 'documentary' camera ever - we use two 100V's to compliment our GFX's on wedding/fashion and portrait shoots - or at least we did until COVID-19 threw a spanner - The new V is a vast improvement on the entire series and the strange little converters work surprisingly well now. No need for fiddly adjustments in menus. On and off and useable in no time. It gets into places the GFX's can't, is discreet and utterly joyful to use. Thanks for this little overview Matt - stay safe.
Fantastically comprehensive review. A wealth of information here and the video explains exactly what I wanted to know when I asked myself "I wonder what the real difference is between all these versions of the x100".
I'd still pick the original X100 but it's purely sentimental, this camera changed everything for me. Now the S is way better, the F is fantastic and the V stands for victory, it's as close to perfection as it gets, to me at least. Thanks for sharing!
I have the original X100, and the third generation X100T. I stopped using them for a while, and asked family & friends if anybody wanted them.. They were all happy with their mobile phone cameras 😊
Another great video thank you very much Matt I'm in the market for the X100S and you helped me make my decision. My photography business will be changing drastically after this global crisis and if the S model works out well after I get rid of everything except my medium format gear I plan to then get the V
I've currently got the S. It's a fantastic walkaround camera that can take a little beating being put into my work bag or backpack. I'm very tempted by the V, though. Thanks for this comparison!
I still own the original (can’t sell it) I have owned the T F and now V and the combination of the V’s `newer lens the images have much better micro contrast . Some of the images I have shot with it actually reminded me of the venerable Fuji Xpro1 The lens is amazing and really renders beautifully. I am lucky to have the V and it’s a real keeper
Cracking review Matt, I've loved this system since buying a used original in 2012, unfortunately that developed the SAB issue and Fuji wouldn't do the free repair as I didn't have the receipt. So bit the bullet and bought a new T, this thing blew my mind I loved it literally to death, drowning it in a freak flash flood. Replaced with the F which I still use and adore. I sorely want to upgrade to the V just because it's shiny and new, but TBH at this moment in this crazy world I cant see a rational reason to upgrade. The F still produces the goods consistently without an issue. As a press photographer I lug around a full heavy canon kit all day so on my down time this wee but mighty fujifilm system is an absolute joy to use. The vast majority of the stills in the videos on my channel are shot with the X100 system it really never lets me down. New subscriber for you mate.

First of all I would pick your intro! :-D
I would pick the one that I have: x100f silver. Love this little camera. It allows for more candid shots than the big Canon set-up that I have.
I had the XE-1 for years and didn’t feel the need for a X100. I passed the XE-1 on recently and got the X-100V and love it. I never liked the D pad so “the V is for me”.

Ive got the T as well, and still love it to this day. Tried my buddy’s V and still prefer the T images.
How did you program a button to switch between 200 and auto?
It’s so expensive now despite not being made anymore
@@touchmestudiosI think he meant just moving the dial back and forth.
It loves you too.
I bought the original at the beginning of 2019. It's the perfect walkaround camera.
I own the S and I love it, never felt the need to change it for another quickdraw camera, its travelled with me a lot and I am sure it will continue to do so until the day it stops working.
I bought a Black T about 2 months ago for $375 dollars.
I love it. The F is better but the T is a smarter deal I think. The V is too much money for me.
Love your videos!
Where did you find it at that price???
That's an amazing price for a T! Happy for you. I would like to put this camera in the hands of everyone who wants to get into photography
Like a modern standard after shooting with something like a CANON AE-1, with a 50mm and black and white film (HP5)
I picked up my x100T also a few months ago. I got mine for about 450.00. But it's minty with no issues. and had less than 1k shots.. I found mine on Ebay

I’ve never had an x100 before,so I purchased the x100v and loving it. I do a lot of close up shooting, and the new lens is sharp. I compared it with a new x100f at the a camera store and its really sharper at f2 and close up.
got the original back in 2011, still love it and never felt a need to upgrade
I bought a black “S” approx four months ago. I live in the NYC metro area and before COVID-19 hit I was shooting street photography with it almost daily.
It’s a hell of a camera and I’m extremely pleased with it. It holds up very well compared to more modern cameras and would highly recommend it to anyone for Street and travel Photography.
Do you have a website or IG where we can see some of your shots with the x100s?
John S yes John my Instagram is @Jay_Shoots_Streets.
U can get a WiFi SD card to fill that gap
I had the original X100, sold it, missed it and bought it again. After that I had a X100S which I really loved to shoot with. Man I really like that sensor! In 2018 I bought the X100F which I still use. I don’t think I will buy the X100V. My favourites are the X100F and the X100S.
Really needed this comparison. Many Thanks
I own the F and I think it’s great. The only thing it’s missing is weather sealing.
Way late to the party I am but this is one of the best product review/comparison videos on TH-cam. Thank you.
i bought the F used after having sold my T. Thank you for taking the time to review all 5 models. Great job!
Interesting reading the comments. I have had the S for a long time now and it does everything I want. I've used it also to video my band on many occasions (obviously handing it over to someone else for the gig) and it has done a great job of that too. I'll keep it till it falls apart on me. Super everyday camera.
My compliments Mr Granger. Marvelous review !
I got myself a x100 limited edition last year and its since day 1 my on the go camera :)
Best x100 video comparison by far! THANK YOU MATT!!!
I own the x100t and love it. Started with the X100. Am considering the V.
I bought the S a year ago second hand for €400. Love it to bits.
i believe the the x100s is a good camera to start. I have it and I love it, i don't think i would be changing my camera in the next 5 years.
I have the T and its been my go to for digital 80% of the time
I bought an X100F in December 2019 to replace an aging Sony digital camera.
I owned the original and then the F. If I could own another x100, I would try to get the original again. That first sensor had some magic to it.
How about the AF? Is there any issues bout it?
@@freddjensen9556 It isn't great… Especially compared to the newer X100s. Totally useable, though. If I were shooting street style, I would use zone focusing. The best AF in a small camera I have ever used was the Leica Q.
I agree with you, S or F if you want to spend some extra money.
I just have bought the S last month, amazing small camera, lovely
I have been thinking about purchasing one of these. So this was the perfect video for me. Thanks.
X100F for me. I use now an X-T2 and very happy with it. The X100F has the same processor and sensor and provide excellent results.
So as a beginner, should I buy the s,t or f ?
I bought the X100S in 2013. Still no need to upgrade. It's still an awesome camera.
I'm picking up an X100S tomorrow!
Great deal because the F price is jacked up now.
@@inquisitvem6723 yeah who knew the market would go crazy like this? I thought about selling it for a profit now but I still enjoy using it from time to time so I don’t think I will. These prices are insane though
Great comparison of all the models. They all look like very nice cameras. Thanks for sharing.
So well done. Thank you for putting this together.
If the Wi-fi communication only had been "rapid" I would agree.. Still does not work as exted on any of my 3 fujifilm cameras..
Thanks for this video, now i know what order these came out. Just starting out I am noting the X100s
I just picked mine up for $900 in Silver 10/10 condition with the manuals, box, and extra accessories. Such a beautiful camera. I was going to get the X100V but the price is not worth it and I really like the D-Pad on the F because they remove the D-Pad in the V.
I just bought an S, $400 AUS and I’m loving it, like you mentioned I don’t feel I’m missing anything, and my other camera is a Z9
Thanks for such an informative comparative guide. It confirmed that I’m right in concentrating my search on the X100S or possibly the X100F.
Still love my original x100 for vacation and walking around it’s great!
This was an excellent and concise video! A lot of important info. Hope to see more like this!
I have the S - great little camera ! never felt the urge to upgrade, I might get the V - maybe in 2-3 years (when the VI will appear)
Cf p in j
This was a very good video my G. Thank you 👌🏽
Just picked up a used x100f on eBay for just under $750 with taxes and shipping included. Can’t wait for it to arrive!
I think we looked at the same deal, got my x100f today
This exactly.
@@tremolo664the T price is jacked up now
Wow!
X100s - got it a couple of weeks ago and I love it.
I have the X100T. It’s a good camera though I wish the autofocus was more accurate. I just picked up a used X30 and I love it.
X100 still got mine and image quality is still relevant in 2020! it ages pretty well.
My sister who is a professional photographer in California has the X100F as her "personal creative" camera and she loves it and calls it her baby :)
Fabulous articulate discerning commentary BRAVO
I have the original X100, and the third generation X100T. I stopped using them for a while, and asked family & friends if anybody wanted them.. They were all happy with their mobile phone cameras 😊
😭😭😭
Another great video thank you very much Matt I'm in the market for the X100S and you helped me make my decision.
My photography business will be changing drastically after this global crisis and if the S model works out well after I get rid of everything except my medium format gear I plan to then get the V
I've currently got the S. It's a fantastic walkaround camera that can take a little beating being put into my work bag or backpack. I'm very tempted by the V, though. Thanks for this comparison!
I still own the original (can’t sell it) I have owned the T F and now V and the combination of the V’s `newer lens the images have much better micro contrast . Some of the images I have shot with it actually reminded me of the venerable Fuji Xpro1
The lens is amazing and really renders beautifully. I am lucky to have the V and it’s a real keeper
Hi Matt, thank you for this great video!
Lot’s of greetings, Dennis 🇳🇱
I recently purchased the x100F from KEH! Very happy with it!
