The df 21, being a ballistic missile, wouldn't it leave the atmosphere and eject the engine leaving only the warhead to re-enter? That's what's supposed to make them deadly and hard to stop. Not a good idea. Any long range missile will require plane to stick around and guide it for a distance. Medium range missiles are the best because they are fire and forget.

This must never happen. When two great powers start shooting, the conflict can get of control quickly. Particularly when the homelands become targets. The two nations must realize this, and refrain from initiating dangerous military actions. Tiawan must be left alone by China and the US need not threaten China but make it very clear that China needs to respect the current status of Taiwan. A China/US shooting conflict would be very dangerous. That is why during the Cold War the US and USSR almost always kept their major forces separated so some hot head did not do something foolish. Remember a Soviet sub commander almost launched nuclear torpedoes during the Cuban crisis, only a clear headed second officer prevented him from doing so. Being at the rose parade years ago and experiencing the B-2 flyover it instantly sent chills down my spine. All I felt was I’d be sorry to be the adversary on the receiving end of this… can’t imagine what the B-21 is capable of.
Well it has to actually fly first. Then be fully tested and triled. Then final changes have to be made to the design. The more test and triles. Then it has to go into production. Then it has to be delivered. Then the units have to train with it. Then there have to be enough of them in service to actually go operational. Then and only then can they attack anyone.
No, the ones that are manufactured are final versions. Digital technology has advanced a lot and those prototypes are no longer necessary. B-21s will be operational beginning 2025.

A China/US shooting conflict would be very dangerous. That is why during the Cold War the US and USSR almost always kept their major forces separated so some hot head did not do something foolish. Remember a Soviet sub commander almost launched nuclear torpedoes during the Cuban crisis, only a clear headed second officer prevented him from doing so. As JFK said there is always some SOB who does not get the message. These two great peoples have much better things to do that go war.

Well it has to actually fly first. Then be fully tested and triled. Then final changes have to be made to the design. The more test and triles. Then it has to go into production. Then it has to be delivered. Then the units have to train with it. Then there have to be enough of them in service to actually go operational. Then and only then can they attack anyone.

No, the ones that are manufactured are final versions. Digital technology has advanced a lot and those prototypes are no longer necessary. B-21s will be operational beginning 2025.

The whole goal is to crush your enemy with as little loss to your own side as possible. One very successful way of doing that is with allies bringing such overwhelming force to the battlefield the enemy has no chance. Exactly what the US did in WW2 especially to Japan. China is in an untenable strategic position surrounded by effectively unsinkable giant aircraft carriers and incapable of meeting both its food and raw material needs without running through some of the most difficult choke points in the world. Make no mistake while war with China would be terrible for the US it would be infinitely more so for China. Remember what Japan did to China in WW2. Like that Chinese general said, China relies on quantity of armaments not on the quality. So it makes sense that one could be on target and that would satisfy the brass. They don't care whether the rest hits civilians so long as the objective is met. It's like using my toaster computer chips for their targeting.
