      I m a Vietnamese-American, and I can tell you now, the US stacked bodies in Vietnam. They lost objectively sure, but the North Vietnamese lost 5 soldiers for every American KIA. And that's with the US heavily handicapping itself and avoiding a complete take over of NV in fear of expanding the war by having China join in.
      Ever since WWII, there has never been a single conflict where the US has deployed even 100% of its active force in a conflict. The closest we got was the Persian Gulf Wars and we ended Iraq's ability to operate as a military within days, despite being across the globe.

    Agree with everyone: It's just a simulation based upon whatever parameters were cooked into the program.
    But: A couple of facts regarding Vietnam...
    1) The US was not defeated by the North Vietmanese on the battlefield, except for a few engagements spread over the 8 years of the war.
    2) The US Army was a conscript army of mostly draftees. Junior officers were often right out of academy or given rank and quick training in OCS because they had a diploma or degree. Higher officers were often "cold" haviong no recent experience since Korea - a very different kind of war. That is precisely why the Green Berets were formed. Small groups of Special Forces destroyed enemy forces again and again. Occasionaly, theywere also destroyed, but it was rare.
    3) Viet Cong and NVA were also drafted, but were defending their land. Many officers were veterans with deep experience against the French, and some were old enough to have fought the Japanese. All historians have a lot of respect for the North Vietnamese Army.
    4) The US was defeated on it's own soil by college Communist students and Leftist Media, which was successful in turning politcal will against the war. The US bombing of North Vietnam was so successful and unstoppable that US Media focused attention on it more than anything else. The nightly News always reported casualties and showed the destruction in th eNorth. The American People are not war mongerers and turned against the War even more.
    5) The North withdrew from the Paris Peace Talks. Nixon ordered a doubling of the bombing. It was at this time that Kissinger secretly told the North that Nixon was insane and wanted to obliterate all of North Vietnam - and that the US could do it within a year. The North believed it, and returned to the peace talks. IMPORTANT: At the same time, the US was puttig forth signals toChina that the US wished to "normalize" relations. This was horrifying to the both the North Vietnamese, and to Russia. This happened in 1974, and took China out of theSoviet spere of influence
    6) The US was politically restrained in its conduct of the war. If the US had been fighting with all its abilities, there would be one big beach resort from the Chinese border all the way to the tip of South Vietnam, and the people of Vietnam would be as rich or richer than South Korea is today. Pol Pot would have never gained control of Cambodia, and the Chinese would not be threatening Vietnam and everyone else in the South China Sea dispute. The Philipines would still have a major US base there - which everyone agrees was the worst drawback of US forces in the world, given the rise of China now. All events from the US pullout of Vietnam have contributed to two things in Asia:
    A) the rise of China, which threatens all countries where ever they go.
    B) thus, forcing the resurgence of an armed and technically advanced Japan, with a new Nationalist agenda. Food for thought?

    • @kerblingtime
      @kerblingtime ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Actually there is, we just don't mention them usually. People forget the US can obliterate a Satellite going beyond Mach 10+ in space while the Patriot PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles are designed to shoot down ballistic missiles going up to Mach fucking 20 and works effectively especially if said missile to heading towards the system.
      China doesn't have "hypersonic" they have over glorified shaped ballistic missiles that needs a complex kill-chain that can be broken by literally just turning the steering wheel and changing direction. But analysts and military experts has to take what China say because they haven't actually demonstrated the ballistic missile can even do anything. Hell in the past couple of years, China been caught still trying to hit a moving train as target practice and still somehow fucking missed.

    China will launch not dozens but hundreds of missiles and drones, if not thousands, against one single carrier group.
    Every ship in the carrier group will get overwhelmed. There is no way any carrier group off the sea but near China at the start of the hostilities would survive.
    China will lose in the end. But at the cost of entire carrier groups for the US, a lot of planes, and hundreds of thousands of troops for the US and its allies like Japan, the Philippines, Australia and others.
