I so much wish this interview could have been hours. Craig's humor, respect, and understanding towards Little Richard, and then of course the wonderfully amazing, talented, intelligent Little Richard himself. This brief five minutes is a treasure. Thanks Craig!
I saw Little Richard live sometime after this or thereabouts. I think he said he was 73 at the time. Big fan all my life and he did not disappoint. Still the great entertainer, singer, and showman. RIP Little Richard. And thanks for the upload. Big thumbs up.
One of a kind...there will never be another. And no, he never received the money or the accolades he earned...the hard way. RIP to the Architect of it all.
Little Richard has always been an inspiration to me. This is a man who had the talent, the energy, the sense of humor and the raw chutzpah to become the star that he is. To me, there have been imitators but no-one has duplicated his influence on music and culture - and yet he was as southern down-home as anyone could be. He could sing a uptempo song with frenetic energy and a slower, softer song with an unmatched soulfulness. His voice was like a well-played tenor saxophone. I get gooseflesh every time I hear him song. I am grateful that he was in the world and that he lived a long life.
Me, too ! he was an endlessly interesting person. He had a joyful presence. I'm glad I knew of him and his music. I just love watching his interviews. He can definitely captivate a person and hold their attention
One of my goals after getting deep into the golden era of rock and roll during the late 80-90s was to see all these Kings of the original rock and roll era play live. I will always regret not seeing Little Richard. He was a treasure
You kind of have it backwards no? He's famous for his singing voice, not for his whacky talking. It's all a show eh? He wasn't really like how you see him on TV in real life. But his voice!! That guy could sing the phone book! wow.
@@novamuziq2284 Your right. The entertainment industry is demonic. Little Richard denounced all that. He was an evangelist later in life and the media demons never talk about that, but you best believe that Little Richard left this Earth a changed man and more importantly, a SAVED man.
From Prince's Rolling Stone interview 2004: "When I meet with a label now, they already know they're not going to be owning anything. Maybe at one time they could get Little Richard for a new car and a bucket of chicken. We don't roll like that no more." Simultaneously taking a shot at the record industry and marginalization of segregation. Little Richard was more concerned that we know he's vegetarian.
I agree: very disrespectful: not impressed with Prince (even though I loved his music): Little Richard was a total, true gentleman & a massive star in every sense of the word!!! My dad & I both loved him to bits: they are both in Heaven now!!! 😇📖👼💙💖👑💎👑💎
When ACDC was looking for a replacement of Bon Scott, they selected Brian Johson among several singers who auditioned for the job. The reason: He sounded very much like Little Richard. This showed the immense popularity of Little Richard all over the world.
It must have been very cool to know and be friends with Little Richard. He always seemed as genuine as a human could be. And a hell of a lot of fun to be around. "SHUT UP!" :-)
Man, I remember watching him as kid in the early 70's, with my moms and thought he looked strange. Never knew about artist's and their gimmick or brand as a kid. But man he paved the way for so many legends. Rest in peace. Mr. Penniman.
His was a beautiful man. They all revered him. The Beatles, especially Paul, Mick, Bowie. Yes he was definitely the architect of Rock& Roll? Just think, Hendrix, Billy Preston, James Brown, Joe Tex were all in HIS band. Good golly miss Molly. Chew on that for a while??? One of a kind, there will never be another!

There truly is a great gulf between the truly talented and the mediocre , today too many are ready give a standing ovation to the latter, and this encourages more of the same . Little Richard was an innovator , and a brave one , a genuine star of high order who by contrast deserved fully his every accolade.

Yeah! I thought so too. Even though you may disagree with someone, you still should respect your elders. Especially when they helped pave the way for artist like himself.
Just saw this, I began admiring little Richard when Bruno Mars paid tribute to him, also I admired Craig normally he will make fun of his guest but you can see in this interview he was very respectful it reminded me when he interviewed Desmond Tutu wow truly both of them have made their mark in the industry. RIP Mr Richard and Craig you always know and recognise people with so much impact in our lives

I liked it that Craig gave him full acknowledgement as the architect of rock n roll and even did a little bow when he greeted him.

He won a big law suit so he got some back even if not the full amount.
Thank you, Macon, for letting Richard get out of town alive. He loved you for it.

LMAO! "i don't know what oven it was but it sure was cookin!" Too funny
Great interview, I never was a big fan of Little Richard's singing, but always fun to listen to him talk. A great showman. RIP Richard.
Compared to the other founding fathers (Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis) he had the best voice

That was VERY disrespectful of Prince. Especially considering he owes his whole style to this Legend.

Why would Prince be so mean to Little Richard? Little Richard clearly influenced him in all things.
A VERY TRAGIC LOSS TO THIS SPECIAL MAN. RIP BROTHER.
They really don't make'em like they used to. His mind still sharp to recall such events that happened in his youth. Amazing
Love hearing that history and Little Richard is so funny
I truly believe Little Richard was a genius. And he was definitely among the very best of the greatest early rock and roll musicians.

Amazing voice, unbeatable in R&B and soul.
