Love Ya Tony, but Gibson has lowered its quality and raised price.

I guarantee you if he played them back-to-back he could tell them apart.

Hearing that SG on those early Sabbath albums is the #1 reason I picked up a guitar in the first place!

Cool and all, but only 50 were made and they are only affordable to wealthy collectors and speculators. The Iommi replica "Monkey" SG guitars are too valuable to be played, so I don't see the point really. If one does actually play one of these guitars, it won't make you sound like him even if you cut the tips of your fingers off. Only Tony Iommi sounds like Tony Iommi.
I'd rather get a used Epiphone Elitist SG at a fraction of the price---built in Japan and made so well that Gibson forced Epiphone to stop making them because they were much better quality than Gibson's factory SGs.

The thing that I like about these OG guys, is that they spent crazy amounts of time searching for the "right" sound, which was hard to do with the gear at that time. They were basically helping invent the technology of rock'n'roll; with the pickups, the amps, the pedals, the modifications. Now we can all go out and buy all the parts & pieces to modify any guitar to our liking, but back then, they had to think up what they wanted and then how to build it, or have it built. Very cool, very inspiring.

Exactly. The limitations of the time is what created rock. If you wanted heavy distortion you had to crank your amp. If you wanted to learn a song or an instrument you had to do it by ear. It was natural gatekeeping to keep shitty musicians out

Andor Kiss the SG is a great guitar because it’s a Gibson and the price isn’t ridiculous. £1K will get you a proper musicians guitar

LMAO I had to make all these changes because my original wasn't that good. 5 figures for this replica? Come on. This is why Schecter, ESP, Godin and a host of small companies like Harley Benton has a market. They may not have the prestige but they make the sales.
