I dont know what it’s called but most of the UC’s do that. They waitlist the best of the best kids knowing that they’ll get in into either Berkeley or UCLA 😭
To be honest, if I were trying to get into one of the UC schools, I would prefer to get into Berkeley than UCLA anyway. Although UCLA seems to be rising in the rankings, Berkeley has long been considered the best of the UC schools from my understanding.

You are promised housing for only the first year AND there is rampant crime surrounding the campus, wtih a lot of the crime targeting students. Get ready to get your laptop and cell phone stolen.
