It is sad that to see it might be “Time for her to say goodbye” in elite level competition. But she will be remembered as one of the greatest gymnasts in the world!!!
Don't get me wrong, I get the outcome. It was a difficulty score difference, I think. And I'm American. I have to be happy for Jade Carey. But I would have rather Ferrari had the gold. However, that's not based on the code of points and deductions. That's just my heart talking. I think she wins on artistic impression.
I don't think so. Vanessa had 3 acrobatic lines and visible issues with her dance elements. Artistically, despite being good, I can't see any complex choreography or novator moves. I still think they could place Murakami ahead of her, if they wanted to.
@@rodneymills6477 Jade Carey had amazing landings, not as good as Ferrari's but with Carey's incredible tumbling, and the fact that Ferrari only did 3 passes shows how much ahead Carey was in difficulty. Carey deserved her win.
Times like these I wish there should be more bonus points in the artistic component. I do agree the deductions were fair according to the CoP but artistry deductions on Jades routine should’ve had more weight. Hopefully they update the code for this cause last changes on beam seem to hint thats where the judges are leading to. Both routines were amazing, I just think overall routine Vanessa’s had that polished Gold performance instead of Jades. Either way Im very happy for both of them and way beyond psyched that Vanessa finally gets to medal on the olympic floor final. Still makes me cry at how great it was🥺
I tend to agree with those who say this should have won gold. Carey’s routine may have had a little more difficulty, but it lacked any feeling and the dancing was stiff and overly simple. This routine had great tumbling and good dance and feeling.

Ferrari only had 3 tumbling passes! You really think she could've taken over Carey's gold with 3 tumbling passes?
sometimes athletes don’t benefit from a 4th pass so they weigh out the pros and cons, and opt to take out that pass and only do 3 as they hit their compulsory requirements in only the 3. Sunisa Lee also had a 3 pass fx and also Aliya Mustafina! Vanessa, Suni and Aliya all had pretty bad ankle injuries during their careers so it also protects the ankle as much as possible, while also not leaving room for deductions on that 4th pass. Suni took out her last pass for the AA final after seeing how the judges scored her and realised that she’d score higher without it. That decision probably got her the gold!

Dance elements also usually carry less "built in" deductions than tumbling, which includes deductions for form in the air, landing position and the landing itself. Unless you're Simone Biles, a lot of athletes opt for this strategy, because they know they can hit it consistently. Having a higher execution score is honestly more rewarding than a higher difficulty score that may end up with a lot of deductions. Plus if there's a tie breaker situation, they always look for the score with higher execution to break the tie.
If she had stuck the split jump and nailed the Memmel, she would have it. Still amazing. The landings were insane, and she is more artistic than the others.

This might literally be the best floor routine Vanessa's ever done. Ever. It's absolutely beautiful, and those first two passes were incredible.
