  • An excellent demonstration on the proper fit of an auto racing helmet by John Ruther, President and Owner of Northstar Motorsports. John is using various sizes of Arai auto racing helmets in the demo, however the information he provides on proper fit works for all brands of auto racing helmets including Bell, OMP, and Stilo.

Thanks so much for this. I bought a helmet that I thought was to small for me and now I see it’s perfect. Gday from Australia 🦘

Just got a racequip Large open face and it fits without any gaps or movement, just like your demo. I was worried about the cheek pressure in particular, but your video addressed that directly. Thank you for the explanation.

Great video. This ensured I bought the right Arai helmet. I was going for one that was in fact too large as I wasn’t aware that they get broken in. Thanks.

Good to know info/demonstration video, especially for those of us who aren't as familiar with helmet fit.

I bought simpson bandit without professional consultation, i measured my own and bought medium size as a result it is too big for me. Different brands may comes with different fitment. It was a big lesson for me and now i am planning to get arai gp6 not without experts consultation.

Good video.. the last helmet I bought snug and after several years its still too tight and causes headaches and I gave up on it. So I get the want it tight deal but I struggled several min to get my helmet on.. and need to replace it with a larger size.

This video made me realize that the Bell M.8 Carbon I bought last year is too big. Happy I watched this, I ended up ordering a Stilo from you. I took your advice and called and consulted with Jeanie who helped me select the right size. New helmet arrived today, a little bit of effort to get it on and very snug as described in the video so a great fit. I also learned that the Bell is very much round whereas the Stilo is more oblong like my head which makes it feel much more natural than the Bell did. Great video. Thanks for posting it.

I’m looking at getting a helmet offline and I measured my head but my head measurement has a fraction in it for example it let’s say my head measured 56 1/2 centimeters now does that mean I’m getting the size that’s in 56 or am I going to the next number up which would be 57

How about if i wear balaclava before helmet?
    Does it need bigger size?
    About 1 cm maybe?

No, the CK6 is a karting helmet, but they look very similar.
