    The egg mix in an OJ bottle is a great idea. When you're grinding your pepper and salt in the backcountry, you know you're having a good time! That river trail looked super scenic with the snow, especially that lookout. Thanks for documenting it all!

    Hello my outdoors friend. Thank you for sharing this fine video. You really know how to chow down in the outdoors. That dinner was a gourmet meal. I am really sorry that I missed your dinner invitation. I would have brought my appetite and some cold beers. Please take good care out there, be safe and always have fun. See you on the next one. 🤗

    In really cold temps I took an extra couple water bottles, put boiling water in them and dropped them in an old wool sock, I then put them in the cooler. I kept my extra batteries and any other electronics that I was worried about in there. Usually only had to do this at night but sometimes in the day as well depending on how low temps went. One in the morning and then one before bed kept everything unfrozen or unfrosty no issue. Thanks for sharing!

    If you take a water bottle with warm water in it and stash it in the cooler at night it will keep your grub from freezing. Put it in a sock or mitten and it releases the heat even slower. Doing some great videos. Keep it up.

      Thanks Gretchen, up until 2014 I had never hiked a day in my life and hiked the Colorado Trail and the John Muir Trail, I was 28years old then and getting into hiking is the best thing I've ever done for myself, good luck on your PCT hike, if you have any questions I'd love to help out!

      @@HurlgoatHiker I've watched the first 34 days of your videos and I've been also researching simultaneously while doing this. I'm in the beginning stages of collecting information and creating a plan. I applied for a permit earlier and it looks like everything's full until June 😐 really thankful I found your channel and had some divine inspiration. I remember watching Wild sometime ago and thinking in passing how amazing it would be to go on a long distance hike. It was out of reach then and I completely forgot about it until now. Coming across the community of pct hikers on here and your videos helped relight that fire. I'm happy, I feel strongly that I have some direction and I'm embarking on the correct path for myself, with a sense of purpose. Thank You

    Another great video!! I enjoy your sense of humor. What a great looking breakfast and supper. Hurlgoat, you should do some videos on cooking outdoors over an open fire, your an expert a it and it looks sooooo good! I noticed that you collected water today at an open stream. Do you need to filter your water in the winter time or can you drink it like that without filtering? Thanks again for making a great video.

    • @HurlgoatHiker
      @HurlgoatHiker  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Buddy, I boiled the water and usually just drank my water as hot tea, but did filter a few liters of water when I went on my hikes.
      My rule of thumb is just filter or boil everything and I've never gotten sick off any water sources , and theres been a lot on my many hiking trips.
