After two weeks on this medication I lost 50% of my hair very devastating. So I stopped taking it and the hair loss has almost stopped completely. I will never go back on this medication.

Following an heart attack i had 2 years ago, i was put on AtorVastatin 80 mg, i.e. the highest dose.
A while ago i started having massive knee pains, neck and back pains. I went to my doctor, here in the UK and explained what was happening. He changed my prescription and put me on Rosuva Statins 40 mg. Again the highest there is. I now go to the gym and i'm able to work out my entire body without suffering any aches. Bare in mind all this at age 65 and affected by Familial Hypercholesterolemis and type 2 Diabetes. I'm losing weight while increasing my muscles mass, and at my next blood test due next March i intend to get there in normal cholesterol range and rid of diabetes. It goes without saying i watch what i'm eating.

When I was taking statins and discussed it with others, those without side effect were much more rare than those with them. In fact I only encountered one person who wasn't suffering side effects, everybody else was.

what about chronic side effects? now no known side effects but the statin is eating away on your memory and you get dementia how? your brains needs alot of cholesterols to work properly, but squeezing your cholesterol productions, yr brains are on a diet control n soon will lose wt n yu develop dementia. You have no stroke, mobile body but once your brains goes
you will just be a walking Zombie, you will lose everything

My doctor prescribed Rosuvastatin for slightly elevated LDHC. I have worked for MONTHS to lower my blood sugar. Dropped carb consumption and using time restricted eating to see my A1C drop from 14.0 to a recent 6.3…my fasting blood glucose since I began statins has steadily risen from 75-90 to the 120-130 range. Today I dropped the poison. I have not worked my ass off to let a stupid med undo the good I’ve seen. Don’t know how they affect you, but I know they are the only variable I’ve changed. I’m done, off the statin train.

try listening to some doctors who are not on pharma payroll..... let them guide you to the truth surrounding statins and how cholesterol is essential to your health.... cholesterol is necessary for so many hormones in your body including vitamin D - which in turn is essential to your immune health and ability to fight off viruses such as colds, flu and other related corona viruses.

Statins may have good cholestrol lowering benefits but it's ultimately killing urself from inside.

After my primary care and cardiologist pushing me to take Crestor for months I finally decided to try it. Two weeks in and I have developed bad back pain that extends from my neck to my lower back. I stopped taking the medication yesterday and last night the pain has gotten worse in the middle of my back and is now affecting my hip area. My cardiologist told me he wants to try a different class of medication when the pain resolves but there is no way in hell I'm taking any of this garbage again.

stop that poison now. Cholesterols can be controlled with herbs and diet. however there are alot of ppl with high cholesterols naturally. All athletes esp. the retired ones have high cholesterols. Their liver are used to produce tons of cholesterols for energy.
if statins work then heart disease won' t be the number 1 killer today!
because if you keep increasing the statins dosage for everyone until no cholesterols then nobody will die of heart disease. Hence statin is useless. Exercise n diet is best. No dementia when you are old. if you lose your brains, what use is a healthy body????

I am sensitive to most of the statins. Usually, getting excrutiating shin pains. I got persuaded to take Rosuvastatin in July under the guise of supposedly being different to the other ones I can't tolerate. I was put on a whole host of other medications to treat pains in my calves, a heart flutter and high blood pressure. I've lost nearly 2 stone is weight due to the nausea of all these meds. The heart flutter has responded to treatment but the leg pains are still waiting for investigation and have been getting steadily worse since July. I can hardly walk or stand without crutches now. I've finally got an appointment for a Vascular scan which I hope will finally discover why I have so much pain in my legs,. Whether it is due to DVT , muscle myopathy, PAD/claudication or actual muscle damage. I came across your channel. I have been put on Edoxaban which is a blood thinner like Warfarin. So I'm quite alarmed that my leg pains aren't being taken as seriously as they should. My GP doesn't seem to be interested in my inability to walk. Having been told all my life that if I lost weight I would feel better...... I have lost weight and feel the worst pain I have ever had.... even worse than when I had an accident that damaged my spine! So it's a complete and utter lie!

You really need to do more research on statins and how they are working - see WOLF above he tells you clearly that statins interfere with your energy pathways leading to all sorts of muscle issues and other side affects. My healthy father took statins, had issues, now has alzheimers..... will not touch them with a barge pole, especially when you realise most of the data is not available for independent review (how bloody convenient).

@@jorgeluna9777 never taken a statin of any form, never will, I do not trust what I am told when the raw data is not available for independent review - big pharma have done with Statins what Pfizer tried to do with CVD Injections - bury the data for as long as possible.
Best course of action get off them and address your risk factors through diet and lifestyle changes, but I am not a doctor and can't offer medical advice only anecdotally I saw how these so called golden bullets affected my own father who was as fit as a fiddle.
Until you are under a doctor who will advise you to get off them, address your doctor about coQ10 as it is the blocking of these by statins that contributes to the muscle pain and lethargy since it is essential part of the energy transport system.

Hi, my doctor prescribes statins rosuvastatin (Crestor) for cholesterol control. After a year I developed what could be similar to Alzheimer's symptoms.
I had difficulty remembering things ( 15 minutes of memory ).I had been tested with the Montreal test and they said that I could have the beginning of Alzheimer's. After that I went to the internet google and TH-cam and from there some TH-cam doctors told in a video that statins were affecting cholesterol and that the brain made up with a lot of it.
Guest what, I stopped taking those statins and 2 weeks after I didn't have any symptoms. A real miracle, I could have continue taking that medicine and have bad symptoms for the reste of my life. TH-cam had made me realize what could have been the source of my problem. No thanks to my doctor and his staff. . LESSON : STATINE ARE NOT WITHOUT RISK!

Statins increase the number of liver receptors that cycle back the LDL. But they do not affect oxidized LDL, which is the component that causes problems. Statins also block production of HMG-CoA Reductase, the end products of which are cholesterol and CoQ10. CoQ10 produces 95% of the energy used by the body, and its lack results in reduced energy production to the muscles, heart, liver, and brain. Statins also inhibit insulin receptors.
    Statin side effects include:
    Myalgia
    Myopathy
    Rhabdomyolysis
    Hepatitis
    Headache
    Fatigue
    Memory/cognitive function loss
    Insomnia
    Vertigo
    Constipation/Diarrhea
    Increased insulin resistance
Increased blood sugar, which can lead to Type 2 diabetes
    Thrombocytopenia
    Higher free radicals
Higher risk of stroke and heart attack

When I first started, I couldn't breath, I told my doctor and she prescribed 2 inhalers that I now depended on all day long. After a year, I could barely get out of bed, blurred vision, hair loss, and depression, which my doctor then prescribed pills for depression. When I got to the point I couldn't walk and didn't want to live anymore, I threw it all in the trash. I can breath and see again, am getting a lot done and no more depression. This medication is very dangerous.

It’s largely our fault. We don’t take proper care of ourselves and expect the medical community to fix us.
I had started lowering my intake of sugars and eliminated vegetable oils due to an overweight condition. My doctor prescribed statins for “ The prevention of a heart attack “ that’s the message I got from the office. To prevent, it’s inevitable, they’re geniuses, clairvoyant, know everything.
Doubled down on the diet, off all meds with the exception of a beta blocker for an idiopathic tremor.
Blood pressure down, heart rate down, sleeping better and oh yes, 30 lbs in 4 months.
Inflammation was making life difficult, gone unless I mess up and eat the wrong thing such as the oils.
The medical industry has failed us as patients, (we do bear responsibility as well) thank goodness for caring physicians and others who will still tell the truth.

I started light exercise , I got a small round trampoline , which I use every other day. Don't think that u won't get a cardio workout ' WRONG ! S low build up , then when you ve the hang of it , do 30 - 45min various exercises , it is a tremendous bit of equipment , and boy it is a serious cardio , infact an all over body workout
So , I get some exercise , I didn't have to make big adjustments to what I ate , I have always been conscious of what type of foods I eat anyways .. increased fresh fruit intake , easy peezy , feeling snacking: no more chocolate , biscuits instead I ve started munching on a selection of raw nuts 😉 almonds, pecan , Brazil, macadamia and bar nuts
    I don't smoke any more , I enjoy a drink , I don't go overboard , like in my student days.
Will see if the results show any improvement when I go blood tests in 3month.
Start making the change , honestly , it's easier than your head has you thinking it isn't.

The reason is Tums contains calcium Calcium affects the absorption of some common drugs, including certain antibiotics (fluoroquinolone and tetracyclines), bisphosphonates (for osteoporosis), levothyroxine (a thyroid medicine) and some diuretics. So if you are taking any of these medications make sure there is at least a two hour window as the reabsorption of those medications will be affected.

PLEASE why would anybody ever consider taking this drug?? Cholesterol is so important to your health and once you realise that it is damaged cholesterol that is the issue, then look into why it becomes damaged you will have many answers..... the pathway this drug inhibits is the very reason why people on statins should be told to take CoQ10.
JUST do your own research and get off statins. AND if you need any further persuasion, then just ask why on earth most of the 'trials' and 'tests' are unavailable for independent review - lock up in OXFORD somewhere!
AGAIN high cholesterol is not the risk, high tryglycerides and low HDL have been shown to be the better marker for health. AND they now know that it is oxidised/glycated LDL that is the issue. HINT.... it is the modern diet that contributes to the damage done to LDL.

    • @ThinkYourHealth
      @ThinkYourHealth  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Peanut oil contains monounsaturated fatty acids, which increases the levels of “good cholesterol”, called HDL, in the blood. Should not be used as a cooking oil as it oxidizes in heat and can cause free radicals. There are reports that peanut oil can clog arteries in animal studies however I cannot find the source,( I did find a description in this web article but again this web article also does not contain a source). see here: www.emedicinehealth.com/peanut_oil/vitamins-supplements.htm.
Of note walnuts, sunflower seeds and flaxseeds have higher polyunsaturated amount than peanut oil.
Here is the study looking at the benefits of peanut oil: www.ahajournals.org/doi/full/10.1161/CIR.0000000000000510.
Overall peanut oil does have some health benefits but there are probably better choices in oils.As mentioned above prone to make radicals when oxidized and is high pro-inflammatory omega 6 fatty acids.

Main treatment for non alcoholic fatty liver is : Weight loss(if overweight), avoid alcohol.Statins have shown to help if your lipid profile is also affected.Would start at the lowest dose and titrate dose according to lipid profile. The dose depends on a number of factors including your co-morbidities and tolerability.. Depending on the size profile.More important than the medication are lifestyle changes which have to be consistent. Depending on the size of gallbladder polyps they can be observed and monitored. For polyps less than 5mm in size the current recommendations are to get an Ultrasound every 12 months( if you have risk factors such as over the age of 50 y/o, indian ethnicity, if the polyps are described by your doctor a sessile. Here is a study which looked at this: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28185005/
