Wish I'd watched this yesterday before buying this junk Echo 2620. I've used shindawia 242 for years.. stupid for thinking I could upgrade. I'm taking the echo back to home depot as you read this. Your review of the handles is SPOT ON! My exact experience. I've used every brand of weedeater out there.. $100-$400.. Shindawia is BY FAR #1.. Stihl is #2
@jonathansouliere8321 may be owned by the same company... but if you've ever worked in manufacturing... you'd know that 2 products from same company doesn't make them the same. Shindawia is still a way better weedeater than echo. I've used every brand
I’ve owned 2 shindiawas since 1990. I live on an acre and spend roughly 2 hours trimming each cut. Reliability and value is more important to me . Also my Shindiawa is balanced evenly. So following terrain contours is effortless. Again, 2 units in 34 years. ❤ Shindiawa !!!
Good review! My 1st trimmer was an echo model 22xxx straight shaft. Pretty good reliable product, but that flexible shaft results in a lot of vibration and I had to be careful to not do more the 1-2 hours of work otherwise I got 'tingling fingers' - not good. Now using a shindaiwa t303 and despite 30% bigger engine, that solid shaft has much less vibration.
As an owner of a PAS2620 and T302, I’m thinking the opposite. I’ve actually put the echo throttle control unit on my 302, because I find it more comfortable 😂. Also, the way echo tuck its wires with the metal bracket keeps them from snagging stuff in the back of my truck. Personal preference, I love my 302, any time I’m looking to buy a trimmer, it’ll probably be a Shindaiwa. Much love from Barbados, my brother! Hopefully one day you can take a vacation here!
Shindaiwa has always been more ergonomic than most others. The "Old School" Shindaiwa (made in Japan) was considered the best you can buy. The added expense got you reliability and engineering and design/serviceability that Shindaiwa was able to build it's reputation for "The First to start, The Last to quit!" Stihl could never say that. Parts are still available for the old Shindaiwa units unlike the RedMax brand .
I'd also like to add the Shindaiwa edger design is far superior to the Stihl or Echo. I'm in Florida dealing with the Floratam variety of St. Augustine grass. I can lay down the sweetest, fine, deeply clean, edger lines made anywhere. Stihl can't begin to compare! I use a Shindaiwa LE261 model edger.
I've got 2 shindaiwa chainsaws (both approx 6 years old), models from before they because (essentially) echo but a bit better built, very nice build quality, and fully adjustable L and H jets, I wish my (more recent) trimmers had this feature....
Nice choice, they are basically the same but the shindaiwa has a true straight shaft compared to the echo flex shaft. Echo dropped the ball on this one as it can come with certain vibration from the flex shaft.
I have a shin T242X. How do I put the brush blade on. The bolt in the head won't unscrew. I have been trying to go rightly to unscrew the bolt still won't unscrew. Help !!
I totally agree echos trigger Handles used to be much more comfortable then the ones they have now I used to call echo and complain about it but they never went back to there old trigger design.
I have a Shin thats old enough to buy beer and it still runs strong. Never had anything that says Stihl that compares. I have an echo blower that still starts on the 3rd pull anytime, its about 7-8 years old. Love these brands, the Japanese know their small enigines.
Pre EPA!! Fully adjustable carb and it actually primes fuel to the outside of the fuel tank (or ground)!! The predecessor to the legendary, T270 trimmer.
Echo has a slightly bigger gas tank and bigger gear ,but shindaiwa has a longer 20 in spread over 17 spread on the 2620t ,but does bigger gear make a huge difference on echo?
Shindaiwa-USA suggests the speedfeed 400 for under 25cc & the 500 for over 25cc. The Pre 2007 Shindaiwa (before Echo bought & ruined them) are the best ones. I still buy old ones of I find em in great condition used. They no longer promote “First to start last to quit” If I had to buy new today I’d buy A Maruyama. They have M-twist (same loading method as speedfeed).
My old echo 261T retired after 16 years. I didn't get the new echo for 1 reason, the handle is too big for me. I got Shin T262 which has same handle a the old echos.
My Shindawai t260x has finally just shown signs that it’s ready for retirement after 10 years of awesomeness… will I buy another Shindawai?? Hell yes 👍
The old Pre 2007 ones (before Echo bought & ruined them) are the best ones. I still find homeowner used like new pre 2007 models on classified sites & buy them. If I had to buy new I’d get A Maruyama. They have M-twist (basically same as speed feed)
I kinda hate that they buy up a company and start releasing almost the same equipment between the brands the old shindaiwas before echo bought them were the best trimmers ever made in my opinion I still use my old shindaiwa t230 from 1998 (best trimmer ever made) now shindaiwa is just slightly upgraded more expensive echo trimmers
I have to agree that the T230 has a great power to weight ratio. The T260 is the same concept but with more power and a little more weight. Both are absolute winners!!!
@@billybobbob3003 I agree with you...I think if multiple ppl are using the trimmer and getting pulled on and off of a trimmer rack/shoved in and out of the back of a pick-up bed - the Echo style trigger may be more durable...I agree the Shindaiwa trigger is more comfortable and more sensitive...This summer I have been running an old grey Kiroitz Echo SRM-210 with a more comfortable grip and throttle than my SRM-2320T/SRM-2620T and lighter than both...put a Speed Feed 400 on it and it is the PERFECT city lot residential trimmer...if you need to do more side of the hwy type trimming - go with the 25.4cc 262 or 2620 with the high torque gearbox...if you're a solo operator and treat your equipment carefully - the trigger on the Shindaiwa is probably a better option...

Echo and Shindaiwa are the same company just a little different handles and ect

They are both are really good the only different as for commercial to use all day is the weight echo a little less. Weight.
This is the video I've been searching for. Thank you ❤️

I have a shin for 28 it still runs today
Must be 270 or t27. Love em. If I'm spending 300+ on a trimmer, that's the only brand I feel comfortable giving it up for.
I’m glad I had my local landscaping store special order me the Shindaiwa T262 versus buying the Echo off the shelf.

You are exactly correct on that throttle difference! Exact reason i prefer the older echo srm 210 over the newer echos.
I've got one I'm rebuilding right now the gray one
I started with Shindawia 40 years ago before you were born Shindawia wins it's more comfortable 😊😊😊
Just got the 262. Did a review myself
Hey I’m a fan of both. I still have one of my first trimmers Echo SRM2400 going strong. I have others but looking at another and it will be Shindaiwa
Nice choice, they are basically the same but the shindaiwa has a true straight shaft compared to the echo flex shaft. Echo dropped the ball on this one as it can come with certain vibration from the flex shaft.
I ended up getting the 262 and glad I did love it so far,, one thing is the fuel filler being in a much better position
The boat guy in Bourne sells Echo but not Shindawa, but also the home Depot near me sells Echo and Shindawa which is pretty sick
Bought the shindy T262 thanks to this video
As a "wrong handed" user, I'm liking that oversized line -cover on the Shindaiwa. 🙃
I have a shin T242X.
How do I put the brush blade on.
The bolt in the head won't unscrew.
I have been trying to go rightly to unscrew the bolt still won't unscrew.
Help !!
My Shindaiwa T261 trimmer is 20-years old this season.
The old school stuff was the best. With proper maintenance and ethanol-free fuel, they run damn near forever. "First to start, Last to quit".
I agree with you on the shindaiwa I own both I'm thinking about selling my echo 2620u the shindaiwa is great
Was considering the T-262 but ended up getting a T-302X brushcutter! What a beast but a little heavier.
Shindaiwa Rules!

loved the old shindaiwa T27 from the early nineties.

Echo has a slightly bigger gas tank and bigger gear ,but shindaiwa has a longer 20 in spread over 17 spread on the 2620t ,but does bigger gear make a huge difference on echo?
Can the shindaiwa run .105 line without bogging down, or do I need to go to larger cc engine to run?
I use .105 from time to time. I don't run the full 20 in. when using it

262 can cut wider. I'm a vet, fan of old school t270 with slinky handle. SHINDAIWA Rules!
T270 "The Legendary badass"
Gonna have to try the Shindaiwa now! 🤣
My old echo 261T retired after 16 years. I didn't get the new echo for 1 reason, the handle is too big for me. I got Shin T262 which has same handle a the old echos.
They are literally the same weedeater, the same exact engine it’s a Chevy 1500 versus a GMC sierra 1500
The difference is the solid shaft in shindaiwa vs flex, the handle and the line spread. Basically you are getting a better deal with shindaiwa
GMC was always considered the "upscale choice" between the two.
Where can I find someone who really knows what they are talking about
My Shindawai t260x has finally just shown signs that it’s ready for retirement after 10 years of awesomeness… will I buy another Shindawai??
Hell yes 👍
Brings me to question the T262 or the newer model T263???

@@DR650adventures Go older. The EPA keeps choking the newer stuff thru regulation requirements.
Shindaiwa all the time👍👍
Well said, as an owner of both, I agree with you. Shindy all the way!
Shindaiwa great machine

The T230 was the little brother to the T260. IMHO the T260 was the best for all around use.
@robkocol5664 I prefer the lighter weight option the t230 has a really good power to weight ratio
I have to agree that the T230 has a great power to weight ratio. The T260 is the same concept but with more power and a little more weight. Both are absolute winners!!!
See specification cutting swath. Echo 17 inches VS, Shindaiwa 20 inches. Most important point too.😂
I wanna see the echo srm 3020t vs the shindy t302x ❤
Shindaiwa 100%
Probably pretty much their Chinese or Japanese models.
Hi
Yo 💪
@@hellocheckco echo trigger is more durable even if it's less comfortable the shindawa's will break off more easily.
