Very nice video as always. Feel so bad for the paramedics and the patients though. :(

The first ambulance is a hospital one, light blue lights only. These guys travel everywhere with their lights flashing. It's probably just a basic, non urgent patient inside or empty. If it was urgent, they'd be on the PA telling people to get out of the way. 2nd and 3rd are private clinic/hospital ambulances. The real EMS Response ambulances are run by the foundation volunteers, like Ruamkatanyu, Poh Tek Tung and a less well know foundation called Siam. The EMS ambulances have blue and red lights and white strobes.

I heard that people in Asia don't give a damn about emergency vehicles. This is Bangkok , I've also heard in India it is much worse , Thank goodness I live in Europe.

@captured911 The problem is related to traffic jams in Bangkok, especially on major roads around the city. There's really not enough room for other vehicles to move out of the way. The only vehicles that can get through the mess are motorcycles.

What shitty people. Not going to sugar coat it. Absolutely shitty people. Absolutely no respect for any emergency services, nobody seems to care at all. Imagine if this was you or a loved one in the back of that ambulance needing urgent hospital care, and nobody tried to get out of the way or even notice your existence. I don't know what someone would do to fix a problem like this but it should be addressed more seriously.
Even some places in North America can be similar to this. A great (terrible) example is New York City. Motorists seem to not move over and get out of the way for responding emergency vehicles, while pedestrians walk in front of and along side responding emergency vehicles, not to mention crossing cross walks and J-walking less than half a block in front of a very obviously responding emergency vehicle. Such a shame to see this sort of thing, especially in North America.

As i come from this part of "Asia" as well. I have questions for any EU or US citizens.
First, EU or US don't have "this" kind of traffic. Vehicles are a lot more, and there are motorbikes. This is not a heavy traffic jam. It can be considered a normal stop before a traffic light. If they were to make way, the intersection could have been blocked.
-What are you supposed to do when this happens?
-What would it be like if it were in Europe or US?
-If the ambulance is that faraway from the most front traffic, what should the traffic near the ambulance do to help it?
-If the most front traffic noticed the ambulance, in this case ,what do you do to prevent blocking the intersection while helping the ambulance?
    Thanks

Adira Setyadi in smaller us towns people would usually pull over to make way for the ambulance. Bigger cities such as New York have the same problem shown in the video but not nearly as bad.

"Actually most of the ambulance responses will take place lights only and no sirens used." - Just to clarify, since I am periodically responding with the Bangkok rescue squads as well: other than, like, in Europe, Bangkok ambulances will respond with lights any time a patient is on board. However, if it's not an emergency response, but rather a non-urgent transfer, no siren will be used, while priority responses (running code) will usually be done with lights and siren. So although getting to Bangkok during the rush hour can be quite challenging, most motorists will not give way to an ambulance when it is responding without siren, but lights only. You could say, "lights only" just mean "patient is on board", while lights + siren indicate an urgent response.

  • @pattarit

we thai people do not care much to move over during traffic jam comparing to most countries and this is on of the most obstacle EMTs and Paramedics are facing everyday. Yes, there's a law for emergency vehicle and its right of way, but little efforts are made to enforce this law, we actually have to start move over campaign by ourselves.
