From the perspective of a long time worker, Helena is who she said she is. She’s a person and Helly is not. Helly’s core conflict is going from the freedom of the CEO to the confines of the worker. Mark, Irving, Dylan, and Petey all assimilated quickly because they’re used to working class life. Helena was truly free, she was in charge (“I make the decisions, you do not”), she made the rules, she made the schedule. Now all that was taken away and as Helly she has to live in the walls she and her family built for others. To her it’s pure torture, for us it’s Wednesday (If all you know is the dystopia, right? 😢). Don’t expect Helena to help Helly, why would she? Think about her speech to Helly, could you imagine one of your bosses high up the ladder making a similar speech to you? I could, I think that’s the point.
Based on the fact Helly R's "Outie" was reading from a script and the fact the video was projected on a VHS and also appeared to be VHS quality I don not think her denial letter was actually her true outie. It was likely a canned response based on a series of recordings Lumen made her take before having the procedure done. Its much more believable that her outie would agree to do all these terrible things even to the point she feels them in her subconscious before she actually goes through with the procedure and is institutionalized.
You guys have a fantastic chemistry and attention to detail. Love the channel. Only been subbed for like 2 weeks now but keep seeing your videos in my recs as I search through all Severance theory videos. Love your perspectives! Keep it coming. Would love another Severance video or two before Season 2.
Helly R is the disruptor, the question is how much of that is genuine. We also only see Helena through the videos that Helly sees, so we don't really know her personality really is other than stubborn and brave?
I love your guy's deep dives! I'm too excited for season 2 are we not getting it until 2024? and the shirt is awesome! I wear my Outie shirt all the time thank you guys so much! I wish you guys would check out the show From, it's about to air Season 2 this month. Has all kinds of mysteries to it just like Severance but in a different supernatural dark creature type of way! Can't wait see your breakdowns on future shows!
Can you guys not see that Outie Helly is purposefully being mean to her Innie to make sure Innie Helly revolts? Everything Outie Helly says in the video at the gala is a complaint filled with disdain about her father. Outie Helly wants to destroy Lumen by the use of her Innie.
