Mark was brilliant. 25k is chump change for him. He just bought himself a stirring volcano of ideas and at worst an IT guy. Also just checked the website. This guy is booked out until July 2023!!!!
Nope. Try to research again. His company has shutdown making customized drawings since 2015. From his own words:

_"When I started, I had no clue how to run a business and navigate taxes and payroll. I learned how to do that. We had a lot of fun, but it was costly to run and such a time-suck and stressor,” Gadlin said. “I was very happy to fill a bunch of orders for the last time.”_

@@harveyscottz You should try to research again. You read a 2015 statement and assumed it's still the same 7 years later. Imagine if I read a 2019 news on covid and assumed vaccines for covid still does not exist.
The website was never taken down and the opinion to order a drawing was not taken down either.
When the episode aired on Shark Tank, he got so many orders, he would not be able to finish them until 2026. When he drew enough orders to get to the wait time of July 2023, he shut down the company in 2015.
The idea of the company was easy but the actual price was on another level.

This has to be the greatest Shark Tank pitch of all time. Guy is quirky and real about what his business is and has fun with it the whole time. Mark Cuban strikes the deal cause he knows this guy can do so much more and 10k is nothing to him. Perfect pitch

In 2018 he wasn't selling his drawings, but I messaged him on facebook in 2018/2019 and asked him for a photo for my roommate leaving with us and my cat, and offered to pay. He ended up doing it for free and tweeting it :) It was so sweet and I see he is doing well now!
Mark always picks up ingenuity! Even though the business is slow now I’m sure these two will hit it! This guy is on another level!

The guy valued his company at 40K, then Mark upped that to 75K. You usually don't see the Sharks increasing the value of a company like that.

This really increased my respect for Mark. This pitch was clearly more about acquiring a talented creative person to him than partnership in a business.

Some of the sharks totally missed the point. It’s not about becoming the next Google. It’s a guy wanting $10,000 for a silly business who doesn’t need any help or business advice or whatever. Mark was the only one who gave it a shot
Nah seemed to me he just used the cat thing to get his foot in the door. His real aim is to plug himself into a shark's network and work for one of the shark's other companies. Either that or eventually hit something more lucrative than the cat idea. It seemed to me like the dude wasn't entirely attached to being an entrepreneur and more so was attached to just upward mobility

This is still to this day my absolute favorite pitch ever on Shark Tank. I love this dude so much. His shoulder shimmy had me crying laughing the first time I watched it.

I find Mark and Barbara are the two sharks who will invest in a entrepreneurs character if they genuinely like the person they are, even if the company isn’t lucrative or the sales aren’t there
i would do the same. that's what business is all about, the people not the product or money (i mean sure those r important too but they r just reflections of the person).
Barbara invested in the hoodie like blanket, while everyone else laughed. I think it was 50k. They made in the first 2 years around 100+ Million and Barbara made around 37 million on a 50k investment.
I wouldnt say so for Mark. There is this episode were he went absolute batshit about the 2 sharks investing in a guy without knowing the sales background etc. Even accusing them of turning it into a "charity tank". So idk.
That’s why I like them the most. I was sold on this guy almost immediately lol. I would of invested in him even if it failed.

I like Mark because he believes in the people that he invests in, and he's very humble and remembers where he comes from. All you need is one person to believe in your idea and you can take off. I honestly think Mark makes the show and that's why I watch it.

This was intriguing. They've had people who were genuinely ridiculous and they had none of it. But they treated this guy seriously. Even though he's abit ridiculous. They saw his value. I love it.

After doing some research, he closed the business after some time and reopened it later. Also the price went up and today it’s back 10$ on the website. Except he only does 1 drawing a day so I’m assuming it’s become a hobby. There no spots available till 2023 lol.

Mark said he made his investment back and more plus Mark said he drew dozens of them for 1k each. Pretty sure Cuban hired him afterwards
I went to his site and it looks like his latest drawing was #21,579 -- that is a LOT of cat drawings. Apparently this episode aired in the beginning of 2009, so quite some time has passed. I think he's still at it, though it looks like maybe he's only doing one a day at the moment. It HAS been a long time.
This goes to show you that you can have a product that has absolutely NO value but if your personality is appealing enough, you can make it.
It has a value to certain group of people.

I love the pitch, but I'm saddened to see that he has raised his price from $9.95 per drawing to $25 per drawing. Also, that the cat drawings are digital only. I thought I would be getting a physical copy. His site says that he is one year behind though. So he must be doing well.

Again in 2021, he started to draw cat drawings for their customers but at $29.99 each, and at that time they makes over 21,000 drawings and its company valuation goes initially from $76,000 to approx. $250,000 almost 2.5 times the valuation at the time of the show.
Update, the man is currently booked out until May 2024 . . . Not many people are smart/ballsy enough to capitalize on the market for "stupid," this man has single-handedly cornered it.

His one-off drawings were pretty much capped at side hustle level unless he hired additional artists to scale it up. But I feel like the much bigger opportunity here would have been to turn it into a full-scale brand (i.e. selling prints of his most popular drawings, IWTDACFY greeting cards and other merchandise, calendars, a syndicated comic strip, a drawing how-to book for beginners, expansion into "I Want To Draw You A [insert other thing here] For You, etc.) Maybe he even tried some of those things and it didn't work out, but I feel like that is/was the real future of this business.

Wow, I just checked out his website. This aired in 2012, fast forward to Jan 2023 and Steve is sold out over a YEAR in advance! He is now drawing one cat a day for $25 USD each and doesn’t have availability until February 2024! Honestly amazing.
