I actually have a solution for the pencil sharpening issue! So, typically with softer lead pencils, the lead tends to break in the sharpener because it's so soft and fragile. In my college art classes, we avoided this issue by sharpening the pencils by hand with a scalpel. It takes a bit of extra time but as you get used to it you can actually get pretty fast at it! Love your work, btw!

A trick to fix the breakage issue with prismacolors is to stick em in the microwave for like 30 seconds. The breakage occurs because the pencil lead on the inside is soft and will often break inside the wood if the pencil is dropped. Heating it up in the microwave gets the lead just warm enough to meld backtogether inside the wood. Dont do it for too long tho. 30 seconds should be fine

Another resource that may be helpful is drag makeup tutorials. The amount of tomfoolery that highlights and shading can accomplish is astounding, and there is something lovely and otherworldly about drag makeup. Beautiful work! The interesting doo-dads you unearth to decorate your creations is fun to see.
Omg! I love her! I'm recently new to the doll repainting world and I'm OBSESSED!! I want them all!! No joke! Wish I had the money to buy your gorgeous art work. I also have a thing for Centaurs and the Fantasy side( esp. The deer, fauns, fairies and mermaides!) I hope one day I'll be able to repaint my own dolls. I've had a love affair with Centaurs all of my life. I created one of my own using a monter high Ghoulia and an ever after high body that I had in my stock box. In the end, I made a Cherry blossom themed doe-like dryad. :) I seriously can't get over your aesthetic and all of your accessorizing.
As a long time prisma colour user, they are glorious. However, they break veeery easily. Instead if using a pencil sharpener, it is highly recommended to use sandpaper
She turned out gorgeous! Those eyes are so intensely detailed! On a different note, I stumbled across something really nifty while rerooting (I custom MLP). Use a pair of quilling tweezers to separate the plugs. They're really sharp (be careful they WILL draw blood if you slip) and can get into and separate stubborn hanks and tangles really easily. Not having to fight with my plugs getting tangled and spreading out half the hank sped up the process quite a bit! Again she is amazing and you are so incredibly talented! I look forward to the next one!
I've got two Avea's in my stock box. One, I have no idea what to do with, but I plan to paint the other like Twilight Sparkle to sell, since Avea has the perfect skin tone for it. It'd mostly be a challenge for myself to make an established character as a doll, since I mainly make ocs. I've actually got all the hybrid students from the freaky fusion line. I love the exposed flesh on neighton.
I used to love Doll Planet hair, not sure why others didn’t, they were my go to when I was customizing. I sand those markings off the bodies no prob, Frankie’s stitches etc too.
i think some people find the older formula a little bit slippery. which it kinda is but its never something that bothered me much. have you tried their new formula btw? i really like it, i dont know if i have a preference for old formula or new though.
GORGEOUS!!! You have to try the Prismacolor brand sharpener, and do your best not to drop them on the floor, because it breaks the lead inside. I have ended up with lots of nubby pencils in my work, too! Good luck!

princeton velvettouch round 20/0 is the one i use the most. its super cheap if youre in the US, I typically just find mine at craft stores. eyes are hard because they should be kinda detailed and theyre so tiny but im sure youll get the hang of it! awww haha thats awesome!! twinz lol

God, I wish I had brought avea in stores when I had the chance, but here in Canada dolls like her were around $30 and buying more than one piled up the money really fast and I have some money anxiety so I could not buy her without feeling horribly guilty. I myself have a few centaur characters that I might just have to figure out something if I cant find avea in thrift stores, if I ever get to go out again that is.

I remember I got into MH but didnt start buying dolls until I got one i think on Christmas , it was ghouls rule clawdeen I think, then I just started buying them but a lot of the time due to the money piling up I only brought two or three dolls once a month. thats what im hearing :( i did pick up the prismacolor sharpener the other day and it does work really well(not surprising lol) but its frustrating that i had to buy a whole new sharpener specifically for one set of pencils when i have so many.
You do beautiful dolls.I loved this face paint she had the most beautiful unique eyes ,such a pretty colour.Now she has white stripy eyes...instead of looking naturally beautiful you over highlighted them.and they look like white eyes with a black dot . Such a shame ..I do love the rest of her though 😊
The priamacolor pencil sharpener works wonderfully on the colored pencils. I can’t say if it will for the water color pencils. I love my prismaticolor colored pencils. I have the 150 color set... worth every penny. I want to try the water color pencils though so please update us on if the sharpener works for them.

You can use nail buffers to take off the paint on the body and it will also get rid of the gloss top coat as well.
oh i know, i find it faster to just use the acetone to take off paint and then do a quick sanding to smooth it out

I have two sets of prismacolor, the metallic are amazing, the regular one for me they not always perform good

eeeee she came out beautiful!!!! God, I wish I had brought avea in stores when I had the chance, but here in Canada dolls like her were around $30 and buying more than one piled up the money really fast and I have some money anxiety so I could not buy her without feeling horribly guilty.
I myself have a few centaur characters that I might just have to figure out something if I cant find avea in thrift stores, if I ever get to go out again that is.

I remember I got into MH but didnt start buying dolls until I got one i think on Christmas , it was ghouls rule clawdeen I think, then I just started buying them but a lot of the time due to the money piling up I only brought two or three dolls once a month. I havent brought dolls in a while but I want to. I await the mh come back and hope it stays

@@jackyohhhxo sometimes I wonder about myself, I’ve been using MSc for a couple of years now and I can’t imagine why I would ask that question, I guess I should watch the video again to see what I was thinking 🤦♀️ I watched it again and I figured out that I was having a problem with the msc peeling on the bodies of my repaints.
I would like to start doll repainting myself, but I have a quick question: when you put the doll’s head in hot water, how long do you leave it in there?

i dont at the moment. ive thought about it but the market for doll repaints isnt great. alot sell for like....150$ and thats on the higher end of prices. i just couldnt imagine putting a doll up for sale for that much that took me like 20+ hours to create. thank ya!!

OMG, yes! I wish I could be 5 years old again so that I can play with all the fashion dolls that are out there 😆 I mean, even Barbie is more interesting. Not just Blonde, Black, Olive-tone, or Redhead. We've got short Barbie, tall Barbie, wheelchair Barbie, amputee Barbie--! 😆

thats what im hearing :( i did pick up the prismacolor sharpener the other day and it does work really well(not surprising lol) but its frustrating that i had to buy a whole new sharpener specifically for one set of pencils when i have so many.

You do beautiful dolls.I loved this face paint she had the most beautiful unique eyes ,such a pretty colour.Now she has white stripy eyes...instead of looking naturally beautiful you over highlighted them.and they look like white eyes with a black dot . Such a shame ..I do love the rest of her though 😊

The priamacolor pencil sharpener works wonderfully on the colored pencils. I can’t say if it will for the water color pencils. I love my prismaticolor colored pencils. I have the 150 color set... worth every penny. I want to try the water color pencils though so please update us on if the sharpener works for them.
