Damn, EVERY single outfit paid homage to hanbok and korean traditional garmets and techniques from color to texture to material even the braided hair, the accessories like the bags, the flowers, hairpins. Even the set itself looks like the colors of the hanbok.
What some people don't understand is that the reason people wear designer is to look different. So for people that call this collection "ugly" and "unwearable" clearly don't understand luxury goods. this collection is beautiful and clearly shows appreciation to korean culture as well as not losing the house's french heritage.
I can't believe people are leaving comments complaining about the aesthetic of this show. This is in Seoul. The show was inspired by and designed for the Koreans. I mean just look at the bright and playful outfits of the Koreans attending the show. Karl has translated French fashion into something that appeals to another culture because Chanel is a global brand. Just because it's something you wouldn't personally wear doesn't mean it's bad. Karl has brought the Chanel suit to South Korea.
the problem is that as a korean i can not agree with that it is inspired by korean culture.. if Karl really saw the Korean culture he would not use such a vivid color . .
For those who stumble upon this comment: Karl and the Chanel team did thorough research for this show, and I am super impressed. They took the techniques, textiles, and motifs of Korean clothes and arts, and weaved them into Chanel codes: the embroideries are derived from antique Korean wedding chests, the main patterns referred to Korean bojagi textiles, and the colors are derived from both traditional sources and pop videos. They are too smart to simply re-create 50+ looks of Hanbok - instead, they took the defining features of Hanbok (raised waste, ample sleeves, rounded shoulders) and worked these components (individually or in combination) into classic Chanel jackets and dresses. THIS is a textbook masterpiece on how you can pay homage to source inspiration, modernize it and make it your own. Those who complain about the wearability of the show are unfortunately not trained to watch fashion shows. These looks are all styled to the extremes for the show, but if you break them down into separates, there are many amazing everyday pieces
At first i was a little confused but as soon i got an idea of the inspiration or "look" they where going for i absolutely loved it. It gives me vibes of grandma/grandpa chic, retro mixed with modern city girl/boy with a little bit of a casual vibe; perfect look for summer.
I am completely dumb-struck with awe by this collection. It's as though Karl and his amazing band of designers have seen the future. And the future is a place where people continue escaping into fun and fantasy, but all the while knowing that the world as we know it is becoming a broken robot. I can't believe they are making dresses based on nano-technology. That's just one of the millions of brilliant ideas delivered by this show. I have to watch this again and again to get the full impact. Thanks Karl and Chanel and everyone involved!!!
Chanel is the best fashions shows i have ever seen ,, i use to watch elsa klinch fashion years ago.. and love it.. i dream to be able to attend one of theses shows some day.
Some people commented that this collection is ugly or not screams Chanel, but I don't see it that way. I think almost all of Karl's Chanel collections are full of refreshment. It's not just about tweed and black dresses. It's not just about practical and elegance, but it could also be something fun and playfull. Karl never come with the same idea every season. He got inspirations from culture (just like this one), youth, or modern tech, and I think he implemented it into Chanel's DNA really well. Btw, is there anyone who notice the korean letters on the outfits in 09:23? If was handmade, must be super cool..
I am very fond of the Korean culture and I have to say that Karl has perfectly captured and translated that into Chanel masterpieces without sacrificing the French influence. I love the headpieces on the ladies and the colors of the traditional Hanbok coming into play. It's not the best collection but it is still impressive.
Ariel DarkWater but the music isn't what represents the show... it's the clothes. and i'm pretty sure karl deciding to do the show in seoul is a dead giveaway that the collection is more, if not totally, influenced by the korean culture than the japanese's.
This show is fresh as tittymilk and I can't believe ppl are hating on the music and styling, It's as futuristic and hip as it can be ✨ PC Music will takeover the world 💫
+Jocker873 Lmao I doubt that. I'm Korean but I have never heard about her being loved by Koreans. Also, we don't "pray on" anybody, if Koreans are "praying on" anyone, it's a Korean celebrity.
Well for some people like fashion bloggers it's their job to take photos of the fashion so that they can later remember exactly what it looks like so that they can write about it. (Even though they could just get it on the internet)

I loved the joy and originality in colorful clothes so sweet and innocent makeup look so fresh and funny , . I love her madly the first two songs the parade though the second and it became my favorite, that song is so cute , funny and really captivates !! and there and I stopped listening all day !!

I don't know if anyone agrees but some of the pieces didn't quite fit the Chanel image, i though it looked more like something that would be in karl lagerfeld's brand...
Kudos to Karl. Over all I liked this collection. It wasn't my favorite but I did like the Pucci esq designs in the beginning and there was a tweed suite that was amazing. It almost looked 3D. I've never seen anything like it. I'm a little confused about the hair pieces?? Is that a traditional Korean head dress or was that just something made up? The makeup was fun (glowing, bright cheek and anima eyes)

@@Oliverbae1 And I am almost sure that the textiles and embroideries are done in South Korea from traditional Korean materials.
One of the rare occasions where Kendall and cara are not in the show
It's quite refreshing
next co she’s running everywhere? I thought she said she only cherry-picked her jobs lol

Llegué aquí solo por Barbara Palvin 😻. Qué divertida música de fondo. 👍
the best fashion show of the world
It’s not the best collection but there are some killer looks in there, the last few were my favorites, the pink hanbok was 10/10. Loved the patchwork and the nacre lacquer box embroideries, the colors also felt shamanic and very Korea.
But I didn’t like many of the silhouettes and some embroideries became repetitive. I loved the menswear though, I’d love to wear that crunchy Rami fiber suit 😮 so cool and breezy 😎🖤
