Some of the comments here are missing the point. This is the Métiers d’art Show - it is a showcase of the technical skills and craftsmanship of the people who create the fabrics, lace, hand embroidery, beading, sequins, etc. for the Chanel Haute Couture collections.
Mondo exactly! This is the next level of haute couture,the modern evolution of craftsmanship and a game changer for luxury fashion ,no fashion house produces this type of artistry and the Métiers d’art collections is the celebration of French heritage and craftsmanship in specific to the artisan skill of feather embroidery and construction in couture, while the haute couture collections are more focused on dressing for annual events, and cultural ceremonies for the Haute couture client... the Métiers d’art is a limited edition collection for the CHANEL boutique Clientele whom get to enjoy the luxury of haute couture on a mass scale, it’s like the inversion of fast fashion(cheap materials, low quality construction, short product lifespan) where luxury brands offer products made by skilled artisans, with high quality materials, and lifetime guarantee with return on investment value. The Métiers d’art is haute couture level craftsmanship, limited availability, natural and luxury material, and huge return of investment value since they are designed by Karl Lagerfeld and apart of fashion history with how the collection is showcased and documented by the media...also CHANEL was the first brand to produce a resort/cruise collection... setting the bar for all other luxury brands and adding a new season in the fashion industry cycle... that is REVOLUTIONARY... Karl has constantly used his partnerships with various fashion houses to Create new markets/economic growth, while bringing creative expression,craftsmanship, and presentation as the essentials for success!

RIP Karl Darling. This collection was so stunning. I feel so inspired.
The colors, the movement, the music, the patterns, the beauty of art and craftsmanship is out of the world.
Karl always stay true to what CHANEL is and keep on revolutionizing it. I love the way how they play the fabric and the most of all is their craftsmanship on every dress especially the 14:08 dress.

Amazing collection pulling in so many design elements, from the 80s synth pop prints to glam rock to Egyptian decadence. All very Chanel and very New York. BRAVO.

@@complexco The Main Influence was Egyptian, but I noticed some NY references on the denim jackets looks and also on the hat, even though it was Egyptian style it totally felt like NYC. Just think of Sinatra.

We're going back to the 20's! King Tutankhamun's tomb was found in the 1920s, and that's why there was an increase in Egyptian design and metal beading in the fashion industry. I'm thinking in the next few years we'll be seeing lots of 20s inspired designs.

This was an amazing and by far, the most decorative collection for Chanel. The artistry was spot on. The use of color is what I loved the most. I think the two men and child could have been eliminated as they looked a bit too much like costumes, but over all, this is my favorite Chanel collection. ❤️

Amazing! They incorporated very well the Egyptian concept to the brand, tho I think the show should´ve been called "Paris-Giza", didn´t see much NY(?). Love the soundtrack!
My favorite is still Paris-Bombay 11/12 because the crafts, details and the exuberance not only were seen in the clothes and accessories but also in the montage and location, I hope they get back to that level of quality.

This show is not Greek; it does not celebrate the human body. This show is about the magic of materials, minerals, motifs, and symbols. At the midpoint stop of the runway, stiff poses lacking in contrapposto combine with the suddenly frozen rigidity of draping to emphasize a ceremonially elegant formality. I loved how the show ended with two rows of models walking in opposite horizontal directions as if watching a frieze painting magically come to life. Camille Paglia said it best: "Elegance was born in Egypt."

It is a fine collection, my concern is upon Karl's departure (if it ever happens as everyone denies it but it will happen) that Chanel does not become like today's Gucci (After Frida's departure, the house is a hot mess) a tacky brand like it was in the 70s, so I hope Chanel sticks to being Chanel and strictly French.
