24:34 "'Add stored parts of their consciousness in DIS's memory states, as well as the individual burdens."
Hmm, personally, I got the impression that the individual burdens *are* the memory states themselves. After all, when removed from the UI, the OS report warns of "Missing MEM1", etc ^^
Thank you for taking the time to put this together - it was really nice hearing your perspective and summary of everything between the last video and this one.
This game is really special and I will always thoroughly enjoy any chance I can have to relive it. :)
I agree there is definitely some things missing from here it’s amazing how far ahead this game goes
How do these devs manage to add even MORE.
What an amazing video and you've done wonderfully with this. Thanks for all you do!
They had these ideas long before they developed the game
One funny thing... that might not be of relevance... But to share a part of my own personal experience of Void Stranger:
I think I haven't found out Cifs brand until after I've been to DIS.
The thing is... I went back to B000 out of curiousity and I didn't really know what to make out of what I'd seen. This might have been either before or after understanding that I have to remove stairs to have a brand drawn in a 6x6 floor mean something... (That took a few runs but was before I unlocked Lily)...
Anyway... I continued through Void Stranger, got through Void Stranger Grey after figuring out how brands work and getting the blade (killing Gor in the process and keeping my Locust Idols).
Most everything continued normal from there. After I beat Mon and tried around some stuff... I somehow returned to B000 and well... recognized the statue as some kind of Super-Metroid-Statue... which I thought to be very silly... but also kind of sneaky in execution?
Instead of knowing I was going there for searching for DIS I was actually just going there because I knew there'd be something.
Gor you can just kill... and well... The clue for Tail you get when carving their brand which was also something I was trying to do...
In all this time I somehow never even noticed B223 was "missing". I even had a text document with all lore, floors that had 6x6 configurations, brands, where they lead... all egg-lore-texts with the floor there were on...
I had noted down several floors that had 6x6-able configurations to maybe try them out somewhere else...
But you probably don't need to hear that.
Finding Cifs brand-room after all that and after having been to DIS already... was... let's just say... a bit silly.
haha, every copy of Void Stranger is personalized :)
I lost to the shmup segment like 5 times. No joke. So I'm less competent than even the most incompetent player.
Same here
midi flute really do go crazy.
What do you mean not to scrutinize in search for every detail? I don't need sleep, I need answers! 😂
Great video as always, and now to wait for Part 3 in which we try to make sense of the unique photo with all the researchers and the ties between this game and Zero Ranger, although perhaps we'd need first to have a firm grasp of that game's Lore as well...
reading zero's lines as alluding to cif's relationship to lillie is interesting analysis; i hadn't considered it that way before, and i like the parallels you draw. in my readings, i interpreted it as alluding to cif knowing (or maybe "believing", from zero's perspective) gray to be add, with zero's "watching over them for a long time now" using a plural them referring to cif watching and intervening as far back as gray and lily's time. i feel like there's conspicuous convenient timing to cif's "it's what add would have wanted", that there's the possibility they're referring to add in the past tense not specifically because of add being gone because add did finally die as gray.
in the end, it's all guesses, isn't it? it's been a long while since i've been so deep into a work with so much to speculate about it.
Thanks for your story videos on that story, and all discussions about references of this game. I really liked how deep you digged and how well you managed to tell about it!
Thank you for your lovely videos exploring all the depths this game has to offer. In my playthrough I directly went to the DIS ending with gray, missing modern Lilly and Cif. When I learned that their routes existed it felt too daunting to start after having seen the "true ending", so being able to see what they had to offer through your videos really showed the care the developers had for this game.
Your commentary was very interesting to hear all along! (And I'm thoroughly impressed at how methodical you did all of this research 👏)
Great vid!
Glad to see some Void Stranger content. I just finished the 4th ending and wanted a good recap to see what i missed.
I believe it took me three tries to win the shmup, mainly because I had no idea I had a short-range attack. So I guess I can be proud that I managed to get a long-range-only win in only 3 tries? Ha.
I have gathered I was mistaken before about the identity of the sparkle speaker--I did completely forget that a specific character says "little one" a lot. I wouldn't mind seeing a close examination of the Circle of Void Lords, how you can pick out whose silhouette is whose, etc.
The release trailer shows silhouettes of the void lords that can be matched up with the sprites you see. Definitely worth watching because it contains details like that that are never seen in the game itself.
thanks for the vids. I made peace with the fact that I didn't want to personally manually play void stranger this past weekend and went looking for a video just like your part 1. and I found out about 75% of the way through it that it was only a part 1 and was like, ugh, guess I'll have to look elsewhere. and then...there wasn't any elsewhere? the wiki for this game is completely barren full of pages that are linked to but don't exist, and claims of spoilers when there's no content at all, spoilery or otherwise. and very few other videos at all. Anyway, haven't watched it yet, but excited to see part 2. Appreciate all the care and time going into making this for people like me.
LET'S GO!!!
Great video! Now you need to play the DLC!!!
Let's gooo
play zero ranger
I think zero ranger is a fantastic game, and would probably be a good way to get better at shoot em ups, but it doesn't seem like brian is interested in playing it.
@@godlyvex5543 i know. that's why i'Il keep commenting this until he plays zero ranger
@@godlyvex5543 I think he would if he knew that one of the "character" in Zero Ranger shows up in Void Stranger (not gonna say who for spoiler)
@@Wee-Ah-Boo I think he already knows, he mentioned it in a video.
28:07 Ah cool, they're speaking Finnish. Caught me off guard, but at the same time I should've expected this. Not the first time an indie game has used Finnish as the language of something mysterious.
The devs are FInnish themselves. It's not the first reference to Finland in the game either.
@@Flarezap Oh I know. Just didn't expect full on finnish dialogue.
THERE WAS AN UPDATE ???
