- February at the nursery means we are in full plant production mode and this past weekend our main focus was making hanging baskets. It is a labor of love to create these baskets which will turn into beautiful baskets of Proven Winners annuals, but come Spring it will well be worth it! I’m so happy you showed your viewers what is involved in putting together hanging baskets! I have heard people at nurseries gasp when they look at the price of a basket and pass it by as too expensive. And then of course I’ve seen others pick up as many as they want when obviously money is no object to them. There is a lot of work with these baskets, other than the cost of the plants, the baskets, and the labor it is plain to see the prices are MORE than reasonable! Because we all have come to love you Jenny, it is a joy to see your girls kicking in with their personalities too!! I learn something with each video, or I just have the chance to hang out with you on your porch with a coffee! Cant wait to see what’s next! 😃

What a fun video to watch on this freezing cold day here in the Midwest! So excited to see a greenhouse full of flowers soon!
Something that the nursery I work at does is we have this piece of wood with little cabinet handles on either side that is slightly bigger than a 10x20 and they drilled holes in it and glued small wooden dowels inside the holes. Before putting them in they sanded the ends slightly thinner so they find the hole easier on the bottom of the plugs. It's super handy. I bet hubby there can get that fixed up real quick. (Just as a 100 other things I'm sure)

Those are hefty baskets! If I lived close, I'd come help for free. Since I've gotten old, my hands & feet hurt SO bad in the cold. I nice greenhouse would be just the place to play with plants all day. Props to the editor for obscuring the Jackson crack 😆

I have always wanted to work at a nursery. I'm too old now for ladder work though. Always wondered about the process putting them together. Lots of helping hands seem like the main component! I cannot wait for growing season- I may only be watching virtually this year beginning radiation in a few short weeks.

I use to work part time at a nursery many years, ago. Enjoyed it.. I always look forward getting up and watching the sun come up.. So peaceful and rewarding. Hard work. Now, I garden for a living. Thanks for sharing.
So interesting to watch what is involved in a working greenhouse. Makes it great when you love what you do. When the flowers are filled in your greenhouse is going to be blooming gorgeous!

They don’t have a choice 😂. For the most part they do great, but believe me we get our fair share of eye rolls & loud groans.
I LOVED watching this, as I stare out at my snow ahhahha. I'm a home gardener and hope to make my own baskets from seed this year. I have pansy's and wave petunias that are doing great, but I've got another couple of months before I can pot them into baskets!!!

I use the shallow bowls we get with take-out in my hanging baskets. They just fit and hold just enough water that my plants can soak up some before it all drips out.
you guys are a hoot and a half, love it! i am curious about the systemic you put in the baskets for those dang aphids.. is that available retail? can't wait to see all those baskets blooming! :)

I never considered placing plastic trays in the bottom of my coco coir liners. I have a combined fifty baskets, window baskets, and containers around my garden.

I was going to asked about the plastic trays also! Do they have drainage holes? If no holes, would the plastic trays also work on grow bags, or would that hold too much moisture for them?

Hey!! Great seeing the process behind these gorgeous basket recipes.. i have a question though.. what is that plastic-y thing at the base of the coco liner that you're using. Isn't that going to inhibit proper draining? Thanks!
It’s a relatively shallow saucer so it’s not going to hold a massive amount of water and since it is a coco basket there is plenty of room for drainage on the sides.

I put panty liners or diapers in the bottom of the baskets, it holds the water without being soggy

I noticed the plastic liner on the bottom of the coco liner baskets. What does that help with? My baskets did not come with that last year and wondering if I need to add that when I plant this year? Thank you!! Getting great ideas from you guys!!
It is a shallow saucer that will help retain a bit of water which will be very helpful in the heat of summer. The baskets came that way, and I thought it was a pretty nifty idea! I’ve never done that to my coco baskets, but it does have me thinking 🤔
I usually lay a bit of plastic in my coco baskets so they retain moisture better in the heat. Poke a hole at the bottom.

What brand are the baskets. I’ve never seen them come with a tray inside. Should I look for those when buying baskets. Love watching your kids. Especially your son lol. Because I have a son too and maybe a little partial to boys 💕
