The problem with talking about Pyro and airblast is that the likelihood of it ever leading to a productive debate is pretty slim. We're talking a mechanic that has been around for more than a decade and is fundamental to a class. To throw my 2 cents in I actually think the projectile reflection is the least problematic part and the mobility and aim obstruction it provides is far more intrusive and frustrating to play against. TF2 is a movement shooter and with only a single exception (knockback) that affects their movement in it has been complained about heavily.
every class sucks pyro is just w+m1 Soldier just shoots the ground 2 times and you are die Demo just right clicks scout is annoying to fight engie just sits in corner and heal sentry heavy just shoots sniper instakills from any range spy has facetabs and deadringer and medic ubers are too op for him just needing to click on one guy 1 minute to get them This game sucks with that said im going back to 24/7 2fort
Heavy shoots and so do all the other classes. Medic needs good positioning to be effective, yes he can sit in spawn but then he isn’t using his 2nd strongest ability: overheal
I wanted to write a comment how your pyro takes seem to come from more from your subjective emotional response and not facts... but then you straight up said it. And i respect that! In current state of the game where ppl keep yelling what is and isin't op, its nice to hear someone say "yeah i just hate this mechanic becuse it feels wrong TO ME". Just becuse you feel underserving using airblast doesnt mean that it's an objective fact everyone should abide to. Good to be open about disscusions like that, i guess. Good vid zenith.
My main issue with Pyro is that he is that he's all around decent (I would say "all around good" usually, but I feel that every class can do better then him in certain situations, but he is all around pretty decent in defending and even attacking) . Doesn't matter what class you play, Pyro is pretty annoying. Actually crazy timing, the second I start working on a video about pyro taking skill to play you publish this video.
I honestly don’t find myself actively hating pyro often, but there is one thing I really dislike. Flames has no push to them (like bullets do) so it can be really hard to get away from pyros as any class except scout. I play medic most of the time so I find myself (attempting) bullet surfing a lot, and pyro just removes that ability. All I can do is hold W and hope that he sees a butterfly outside his window and gets distracted. I know there’s no real fix to this but it just makes me annoyed.
Heavy is a good counter to pyro since he does such great damage to him in the range that flames reach Flames most of the time can’t do enough damage to the heavy in the range that flames reach before they die to minigun
1:40 that is some great goddamn wording. You are absolutely right. That said, I don’t think that’s a bad thing. As a soldier if you can’t fight the urge to shoot a rocket, there’s nothing wrong with getting punished for that. Damage comes stupid easy for soldier and demo, I don’t see a problem with having a way for punishing them for shooting mindlessly. Pyro mirrors snipers problem a little. He’s a class that doesn’t take much effort to get a kill with up-close. And it’s hard to punish as the victim. Sniper doesn’t take much effort from afar. And it’s hard to punish. We kind of just have to accept that every class has instances where they’re oppressive. Some come easy, some are a little harder.
@@ketchup901 to be clear, an exchange being based on prediction isn’t inherently balanced. Sometimes it’s not fair to die instantly because of one misplay.
@@Small_child_punterDeath isn't permanent, you will respawn and then hopefully not make the same mistake again. If you do, then again it's a skill issue.
@@Small_child_puntera pyro can't oneshot a soldier with a reflect, the closest he can get is reflecting a direct hit, and directly hitting the soldier
Heavy has to actually care about positioning and gamesense because he's slow as molasses and has to rev up to shoot. Not to mention that tracking is still aiming and still takes skill, unlike the flamethrower.
3:50 I think is the most truthful part of the whole video and I think it's also why someone would instantly defend something as well, once you made your mind up on something and had that mind set for so long, things you normally wouldn't care about suddenly becomes things you do care about even if the problem isn't solo tied to that class or you feel you need to defend even if it's just a opinion from someone else. Overall I agree that disliking a class for your own personal opinions is okay but I feel this won't stop people from taking it personal as I also believe that to be a really big issue when it comes to the topic of liking and disliking something.
My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone.
11:10 This is pretty much my issue with pyro (or rather, how their main source of damage is delivered). Even with a class like Heavy (or even Sniper to a large extent, if he isn't using Jarate and the current map allows it) there are clear downsides that the heavy himself has to play around. Otherwise, opposing players can exploit those weaknesses to win the fight (Scout v. Heavy is a good example). With pyro, picking fights at the wrong time can lead to the class being very ineffective sure. However, I feel that makes it so when you do find success, the threshold has to be at the point where there is little flexible counterplay to be had, "wrong place at the wrong time" as you've said. Doesn't help that casual 12v12 can already feel as random as it is. Not to mention, I'm not a fan of the "you need map knowledge and gamesense" argument as those are skills really any decent player should use, regardless of what class they're playing. Though, this is more of an issue with Heavy imo as at least with Pyro the latter has a nice variety of unique unlocks and playstyles to make up for it.
yeah fighting a pyro usually result in either booth of the side dies, rarely does anyone escape from a fight with a pyro, especially when he wip out his flamethrower and glue the w key down
What about dragon’s breath pyro? Because I think It solves all but one problem you mentioned. That problem being air blast, and as a dragon’s breath pyro I don’t use it very much.
Different people hate different things. It's to be expected. You hate fighting Pyro, I hate fighting Sniper. But you know what? At least you're not pretending your opinion is based on fact like so many other people. You recognized it's your personal opinion, and I respect that. For me personally, I'm relatively okay with fighting Pyro because of his limited range. Sure he can be fucking annoying. Damage over time is never fun to deal with. But if he annoys me enough, it's relatively easy to shut him down. I can stay out of his flamethrower range and shoot him with hitscan, and that works fine for me. But I recognize what works for me may not work for you, and vice versa. I meanwhile hate fighting Sniper because compared to Pyro, he is much harder for me to deal with. Yes, he has counterplay. To say he doesn't is hyperbole. But my problem with him is that the majority of his secondary weapons are focused on mitigating your options of fighting him. If you don't wanna deal with Spy, just put on the razorback. No skill required, just continue camping in the same spot and the Spy is forced to shoot you and give you time to react. Or better yet, park your butt near an Engineer and his sentry gun with your razorback. Speaking of camping, the Cozy Camper. Good Snipers tend to reposition after every few kills, but the Cozy Camper says "Nah fam, you don't gotta do that. Just camp in one spot the whole game. Chip damage won't mess up your aim anymore, and I'll even top off the little bits of health you lost." One of the main ways of countering Sniper is to shoot him and fuck up his aim, but Cozy Camper just deletes that option as long as Sniper remains fully charged. That encourages him to camp in one spot the whole game to get the full benefit, which is fucking annoying to fight. Then the Darwin's being a straight up "fuck you in particular" to Pyro. In my opinion, Sniper just has way too many options of dealing with the counterplay options other classes are supposed to have. Which makes the most reliable way of dealing with a Sniper, another Sniper. Saying Sniper is the ONLY counter is hyperbole, but I would say he's the only consistent counter. And we didn't even have that with the previous version of the Danger Shield, so honestly I'd rather take the "Fuck Pyro" version. Side note, due to the way random crits are calculated, Sniper gets them far more often than the other classes if he's been doing well. So if you successfully manage to get in close to a good Sniper, he has a 60% chance of just instantly deleting you from the game with his stock melee. I have no problems with quickscoping. But THIS feels like bullshit. Granted this is more of a random crit issue than a Sniper issue. But it does kinda add to my frustrations with the class. I don't get quickscoped very often. But the amount of times I've been randomly crit from a Sniper when I did everything else correctly just really fuels my resentment towards the class.
my biggest issue with the class is that its a huge newbie trap. it lures a new player in with its easy kills, teaches that new player a playstyle that will never work with any other class, pushing them to exclusively play pyro, and never evolve past what is arguably one of the lowest skill ceilings in the game
@@kahonk269 its really not as hard as people give it credit for. i could go on about the airblast mechanic restricting airstrafing, making followup shots brainrot easy but this is a youtube comment lol
while I am a pyro main, i see your point and respect them, pyro is pretty easy to get some kills, but saying that they will never evolve past w + m1 is a bit of a stretch imo, pyro's can equip shotgun, which is the stock secondary, forcing to use the shotgun a good amount of times, which does take skill to land, the flare gun is arguably one of if not the most skill reliant unlock for pyro, if not the majority of the weapons of tf2, although im sure there are other weapons that are more skill expresive and reliant than the flare gun, and, i also have to talk about the dragona fury, which you have to learn the projectiles behaviour, how to combo and deal burst damage, track enemies, plus you can get the dragons fury for free due to contracts, thus being one of the weapons f2p pyro's are more exposed to, the weapon is high risk high reward, due to slow airblast, missing making your firing speed drop dramatically, and having to adapt to the projectile tl;dr: your point is valid but the game also encourages new pyro players to try out the dragons fury due to contracts, perhaps encouraging them to try out weapons that arent, as you put, "newbie traps", plus airblast takes a good chunk to learn and pull it off succesfully, have a good day even though its been like 9 months and you probably wouldnt see it
I get the point, but what you paint as "instinct" I would call "experience and intuition" which is a part of every class. Firing blindly for splash damage as a Demo, or Solider, pre-shooting of any kind, in fact, uses those same instincts. Being able to read your opponent is key, it's actually essential (I also think Spy makes use of this a lot in a different way). But you could make an argument that Pyro is rewarded more for it, I wouldn't agree, but I understand. Airblast cube could probably be made smaller though, or back to the old cone. PS: Never forget the Pyro in Beta before the 2007 release, one of the worst classes in the game because the fire physics were unworkable and could hit almost nothing, you would get more kills with hit-scan shotgun and ax than the flamethrower, then they released the terrible patch that made the flame like a rigid line that sits out from the end of the flamer...far too powerful, it didn't bend or move, it was just a long stick of flame from the end of the barrel. Then airblast and new weapons came out...and the rest is history. But I respect not liking fighting against pyro.
this is why when i play pyro i play with the dragons fury - to me, it feels like the only skilful way to play pyro. i know pyro has his detonator mechanics that take a while to learn and combo pyro is a little difficult, but i always felt like pyro is the easiest class in the game. heavy and pyro both require very little mechanical skill, but pyro has significantly more speed, so he requires, to my mind, less positioning and awareness
I definitely get your point though. Pyro is a class that is not only mega low effort to play for good amounts of reward, but is also kinda built and balanced around some pretty annoying mechanics like afterburn and airblast. Which are mechanics I'm conceptually really fine with but in execution don't quite land and just make for really unfun things to play around. At least in my opinion
A good thing to keep in mind is that this game is old: People have already said everything there is to say about it They just aren't here anymore \ don’t bother to repeat that. (just look at the steam community pyro guides) 1. scout outranges pyro. Scout should win the matchup almost always. When I play against scouts, they either kill me, or they overextend and die right after killing me. 2. that reaction reflect in corners vs projectiles can punish a pyro so hard, I had many times of it, where I either airblasted too early or airblasted too late - costing in my life, this timing is not just instincts, you also need to predict when they will react and whether they will shoot immediately or later. Your description just does not fit my experience here. However, when fighting newbie players, it is relatively easy to predict when they are going to shoot, especially when they straight up shoot at 0.8s beat. That privilege doesn't occur when facing a competent player, you must risk your life here, missed airblast equals no damage, thus leaving your target unharmed. 3. flames do damage and if you miss them you deal less damage, afterburn is not strong compared to other means. 4. everything can counter pyro, due to his lack of range. But at his effective range (very close range mind you) he should be strong, about the shotgun argument, a pyro isn't protecting his team 24\7, you can easily just avoid him and shoot someone else. (see how you quickly ran to complaining about "now I must change my playstyle"?)
5. If you give respect to others, they will give respect to you Just keep that in mind if you wanted a more nicely written comment from me that isn't only aimed at telling you how wrong you are and how provoked I am. (because the comments that count are the ones written quickly and not the ones that had thought put into them) And saying that you are right, doesn't make you right. I hope it was fun to read Have a nice day.
Remember *Every* class has a purpose If your least favourite class didn't exist, the game would suffer Delete Pyro/airblast, and Soldier and Demo would become even stronger than they already are, wich would ruin the game
I wish it took more skill to combust people like you need to hit them at the tip only You then could afterburn have the ability to spread to others when they come close/in contact. I do think they should of make pyro into a debuff role
As a Tide turner full demokhight and scout main I can definitely say that Pyro is the most annoying class in the game and fighting against him still gives me nightmare
Scout should pretty much always easily outplay pyro, if they're both experienced, pyro is just very easy to pick and play for new players unlike scout, but as long as you keep your damage, mobility and range advantage, you can't lose
Well... Pyro is a pretty unic class. But is not Soldier or Scout, so we hate him. We all started as a Pyro at some point. I still play Pyro beacise he is cool
I don’t like playing against pyro due to him literally countering so much shit whilst also being trash. If I spend 40 seconds dividing up heals and use Uber on my teammate, I shouldn’t just fail to push since pyro spams mouse 2 on his keyboard, it’s the same argument against the wrangler in uncle Dane’s video. That’s the reason I hate pyro, his airblast is so easily spammable and he can disposition an Uber Ed heavy and ruin the push just because spam. It sucks.
A regular pyro can't easily fight a heavy by himself, and the pyro will pay with his life to stuff an Uber. Just shoot the pyro and you won't get air blasted.
I'm also a rare engineer hater myself but its mainly just because he almost completely invalidates my main as a class and I hate being forced to constantly switch to dh soldier and dedicate my time to ruining the engineers fun until he finally takes a hint and switches off. I do also think the class is really strong and way too hard to deal with in casual when u can just stack multiple of them. It feels like most non koth games I'm in are just completely dictated by a few engineers and it feels like the class devolves the entire game into just playing around him. Also a lot of people hate sniper but so much of snipers gameplay is just enabled by engineer making him basically untouchable, I never see snipers carry games unless they have an engineer making them impossible to deal with.
There are three archetypes of characters in PVP games. Carries, Anti-carries, and supports. Carries win by having higher skill and doing more. Supports win by letting carries and anti-carries do more. Anti-carries win by making carries less capable. My issue is that anti-carries aren't fun to me, ever, because they aren't about showing skill expression, they're about letting your opponent do less. Pyro is an anti-carry design. Pyro doesn't win by just outskilling you, Pyro wins by preventing you from ever using projectiles if they are semi-competent. Soldier wins by hitting more rockets and moving more. Pyro is a weak class that wins by dragging you down to his level. In fact, I'd argue that Sniper is an anti-carry as well. Sniper wins by making you completely unable to play in a lane if he is semi-competent. Sniper and Airblast (not pyro as a whole) are, in an abstract sense, the same issue. A good demo trap is rare to see and counterable, but utterly miserable and anti-carry to play against. Engineer is a good example of how to do area denial wirhout being an anti-carry design. A sentry is just another player with low reaction times and no movement, you can just peakshoot it, but it does demand your attention. And dispensers and teleporters are support tools, not carry tools: they let YOUR carries do MORE, not make the OPPOSING carries do LESS. Medic is a curious case since he's a support, obviously. But he can win games on his own if played well. Ubercharge isn't an anti-carry ability because it's a whole 40 seconds of charging that can be countered. Calling ubercharge anti-carry design is like saying that soldier is an anti-carry if you let him shoot you five times. Honestly my only problem with Pyro is airblast. The counter isn't a game play, it's a metagame play. "Just don't play here, just don't play with that weapon, just don't play that class" etc. But EVERY counter to a good airblaster is *Just don't do X". That's anti-carry design. As a Soldier, or Scout, the counter to another class is just move better, just hit more shots, etc. That's carry design. That's good.
Coming from a pyro main, I'm not going to deny there are issues with pyro. Airblast is definitely too broken right now, I have honestly no clue why they decided to remove the cone it had in favor of a giant cube. You can easily airblast all around you. *You brought up a clip regarding a rocket being reflected behind the pyro, which is something I've witnessed myself & have on recording. If the size was reduced to its original size (or shorter) the mechanic would probably not be as horrendous to fight against. Pyro will forever be in a kinda screwy state, regardless of how much dps the flamethrower can cause, its effective range can easily be countered by most classes if they know how to fight the class. Pyro can be powerful within casual environments as half the people dont know what they are doing, but players with basic awareness should be easily able to counter pyro. The class could certainly undergo another rebalance, but that's why I tend to stick to the combo-ing aspect of the class as landing distanced flares is one of the few respectable things one can do as pyro in the current state of tf2 (with the base flare gun). I respect your opinion on pyro, there are things I do agree with and others I don't but that's gonna happen with incredibly different experiences, playstyles & tf2 being tf2.
It was never a cone, it was always a cube. The cone or a smaller box just won't work because of depth perception and lag, though it would have been amazing if there was a smaller box specifically for pushing players (but the original one for reflects) or if airblast push was 50% worse if you airblasted right when it repressurated
Old airblast was a 256x256x128 Hu box against projectiles and a cone against enemies. New airblast is a 256x256x256 Hu box for both. Reverting it would not fix reflects from behind.
ive only played 50 hours of tf2 and was doing the merc contacts and was doing the phlog one and a random medic pocketed me and i went on to rinse the enemy team. i understand your hate cuz i would be pissed if i was on the other team. all i did was w m1. there was no skill what so ever, it was not fair on them but my god! it was so fun!
"Why should I have to change my loadout to counter pyros" Well because TF2 isn't the same every time you play it and you need to change things up if you want to win. I don't understand your way of thinking. Of course you need to be able to adapt to what the enemy is doing, that's like the entire point of playing the game.
@@zenithzvMost the classes in the game have very powerful core mechanics and you cannot expect to be able to win if you never change class or loadout. Each class is strong against some classes and weak against others, if you don't like this then TF2 is not the game for you.
Thank you finally so many soldier mains like to act like that pyro is a brain dead easy class without even trying to learn how to counter him it’s pretty obvious that spamming rockets at the pyro main will get you killed that’s not the pyros fault it’s yours
@@zenithzvbro have you never played tf2 that’s like the hole game most items are made to counter a specific class honestly i don’t know how you can play this game so long and still think like that

@@hussar7733As a pyro main, I can tell you that pyro is dead, if you stay away from him and set traps, because he's a walking chokepoint. Most of the time, he just can't keep up with other characters and is a very situational one. One good scout or sniper and the pyro is waiting to respawn. Also, team coordination is also a key.
@@heavyion I mean honestly he's just annoying as fuck for most classes. I just don't like how sometimes you automaticly lose just because he got too close to you. I think he's only op against spy. Easiest fix (imo) would be to make it so that flames don't make you visable. You could even remove the 2 times shorter afterburn duration while clocked if needed. I just hate how sometimes I can doge 5 people with good movement only for a pyro to click around and make me visable
@@hussar7733 Dead ringer helped a lot of spies to kill me, because it lured me out and then another spy sapped turrets and killed engi, then I was running for him only to die because of first spy or a scout running around :D You can bully pyros with spies and scouts, in general.
@@heavyion not really. What you described takes a lot of coordination. Something we both know there's not a lot of in pubs. Also dead ringer sucks ass. It's only good if you're playing gun spy or you're a trickstab god. Or if the enemy team is very bad I guess
im an avid pyro hater but i completely disagree with the shotgun take im likely biased because its my favorite weapon in the game, but thats what sidegrades are supposed to be, change your weapon to adapt to the situation for instance; soldiers are rocket jumping all the time, then you equip the reserve shooter to shut them down or on heavy, if your medic isnt healing you as much, equip the Family business or the banana
I... Don really agree with the whole airblast argument There arent many pyros who airblast (or at least correctly) due to a big majority of them being new players. This leads to demos/soldiers shooting at the pyro anyways. But if a pyro actually airblasts correctly and kills the soldier/demo, they will remember it the next time they see said pyro. As you said the pyro relies on instinct to airblast correctly, so a good demo/soldier can take advantage of that to wait a second, bait an airblast, and shoot the pyro in the cooldown. I know my whole point is pretty much "get good" to demos/soldiers but I thought its fair I mentioned what I thought
I understand the Pyro hate. I have most of my hours on him and I must say I prefer playing him as the "support" style more than the "sniper-mid-close range that has 3 hours of afterburn" style. Generally when I think of a class I enjoy (mechanicly) I think about Demo, Scout, Spy, but definitly not Pyro. However I love the raw utility Pyro can give to his team rather than giving cancer. Besides, not to say it's *that* easy, but a competent player can punish a Pyro without too much dificulty (Scout deals more raw damage, Heavy hard counters Pyro, Sniper outranges him etc..). All this to say I still love Pyro even if he is very annoying, because at the *very least* Pyro can't one shot you cross map on cooldown without damage fall off.
Pretty Vibey, Humble and Humanistic Discussion You have some Great Points But You also Have to Be Efficient Pyro Is Brokey Some of His Weapons Are just not There Sometimes and Others Are very Useless He’s The Top Unbalanced Class, besides Demo For Himself and Others But You can’t just Obliterate Him because of That and some Absurd Keyboard Debates won’t Fix That Gameplay Design Is a Very Delicate Balance Everything has to come Together
I hate Pyro due to the fact he can pretty much do everything and counter everyone (depending on the loadout he uses). Flame particles can bounce around even after he is dead (it often happens to me when I play Spy or Scout, that when I walk past a dead pyro that was using his flamethrower, I get magically on fire). He can catch up to people with the powerjack and the thermal thruster (and even fly away with the intel). He can do an easy 90 dmg + 65 afterburn damage if he combos you with his flare gun. Let's not talk about the Scorch Shot. The backburner's crits can even be felt when you are facing him if the particles somehow bounce and touch your back. His airblast went from a cone to a giant cube so even if he's facing away, he can airblast your projectiles. Can push away and prevent ubers, etc. Plus, you cannot even airstrafe from his airblasts and you will be left stunned and an easy target for his combos. I mainly play spy (due to the interesting gameplay and the dopamine hits of crossing the enemy lines undetected) and I understand that the Pyro is the direct counter of Spy but the fact that not only when you succeed in killing an Engineer and sapping his buildings, which can be a difficult task, a pyro can just run in with a homewrecker/neon sign and undo all of your efforts. A SINGLE particle is enough to blow your cover, so it doesn't help that he has 200 ammo capacity, in a game where ammo pickups are plentiful (dispencers, ammo boxes, dead players). If you want to defend yourself against a pyro, backtracking is garbage since you lose 10% of your speed, so not only you have to shoot through the blinding flames, with a bouncy screen if you are getting damaged, but you actually have next to no chance of escaping him (how a latex monster, carrying a homemade flamethrower can run faster than a man with a sharp suit, a revolver and a knife. Spy should quit smoking).
Seven of the nine classes are really hard to hate. Those last two can be rightfully hated on because one has been the objectively best since the launch of the game and the other has been given tool after tool to be intentionally annoying and a pain to deal with.
My only problem with pyro is the lack of tracking. It is fucking BRUTAL to play against a wm1 pyro as medic. You can’t dodge a stream of flames and you can’t outrun them. They need only to connect 5 of the shitswarm of particles to kill you. Can’t hide behind my team either because fire goes through people. If I try to go up for a ubersaw against them I take 6000 damage and they can just blast me back. Pyro’s flamethrower needs to be somehow more like the mini guns where some prediction is needed and you can’t wave your magic wand in the air and come out with 3 kills.
I don't think you're wrong. I don't play a lot of TF2 any more, but when I did I played a lot of Pyro. Not because it was my favourite class (Engineer) but because I just had a lot of success with it because it felt so much easier than the others.
2k hours soldier main here: I agree that pyro is too easy of a class, however I think that airblast is made fair once you learn to understand how to bait it out. Then pyros become a free kill pretty much.
@@ReddestRosa If a new user uses a soldier for the first time, he will be able to kill faster than with any other class, what's more, you don't even have to predict the opponent or aim directly at him, soldier has a low skill floor af but a high ceiling

I don't remember where I saw this, but one time I read a comment from a guy that went something like "flame particles are considered projectiles so Pyro actually takes more effort to aim hitscan" tbh he was probably trolling, but if he wasn't then it was without a doubt the stupidest thing I've ever heard a tf2 player say
And Why 2016 People want fix pyro ? if heavy won 2016, Pyro already fixed now. But Present its not. i hate community 2016. and Valve trash can update too.
the airblasting, combos or the good ones arent hard to kill, but its usually the ones that you expect to retreat cause they smart after taking 75% damage from you, they instead dash forward and instant kill you, the more bizzare the enemy pyro play, the worse it is to fight them cause you cant read them, this apply to everyclass, but at least you have better chance fighting other classes. Also, i feel like sometime the pyro's flame kinda ignore the damage limit, this happen when one of the highest damaging flame stuck inside your hitbox until it extinguish, this happen very often when the pyro chasing you or attacking from above, because sometime the pyro was fighting my team mate, i got hit by one of the flame while he was swinging his flamethrower like a maniac, just one of the flame particle and my 125hp drop instantly whithout him continuously hitting me
Me and my friends have a thing going where if you died to a pyro we would say '3 degrees!' cause that the amount he would have to turn his mouse to kill you. Its a dumb joke and its got to a point we say it even if we die to flare gun. Its dumb but quite fun :)

I’m probably gonna be the one of the only people who say this but pyro takes skill if you want it to like the Detonator like that one guy lazy played with that was pyro like demo doesn’t take skill if you don’t try and spam stickies which is most people and heavy you just jump a corner and rev and kill you or like some other class like that because you can be really good with it like rocket jumping with air blast or cool tricks but people will still say pyro got no skill Edit: I’m surprised no one has tried to crucify me yet
LETS LIST THE THINGS PYRO CAN DO. Can deflect every projectile in the game other than bullets. Has the ability to remove sappers. Kills nearly as fast as a heavy Same speed as a spy Extremely good against spies with the flames Can kill you with afterburn EVEN IF THEY ARE DEAD. Is able to extinguish teammates with air blast and GAIN HEALTH WHILE DOING IT. Debuffs: He doesnt have alot of range and he has only like 200 hp
I play pyro because in real life I'm a kind person, but deep inside of me lives an inhuman demonic piece of hell which consists of chaos and mean thoughts towards everything that moves. Pyro helps me contain it alongside soldering, powerlifting and martial arts. It's a class for relaxation, based of infuriating other people, who come here to relax. I just find it good to make people's games horrible and uncomfortable, instead of doing it in real life. TF2 is a toilet and Pyro mains have violent diarrhea :D I play other classes, but it's my main class.
6:56 instead of trying to kill a class that can reflect your projectiles at you and then cry about getting killed, why not pick your fights? in the same way how a pyro should avoid a heavy :/
Difference is you can still fight back if need be, if they can reflect you cant even hit them (unless you're running shotgun), or shoot back at them to save your teammate (including your medic). You also cant even use your melee because they can just right click. Additionally, demoman has zero hitscan alternatives to counter. Not that it doesn't take skill to do so. But if you see a pyro and you can just run than do that, but if you're ever caught off guard, you're pretty much done for
@@aidenb3069 They don't need to reflect 4 rockets, if they reflect 1 rocket it deals about 100~150 damage, and they still have a primary/secondary weapon to finish them off with. same for demo (135 per pipe), Once again, I'm not saying it doesn't take skill to reflect, just that in the right hands its unfair to projectile classes
I hate pyro primarily due to how he hard counters a lot of the fun subclasses I play like demoknight or buffalo steak heavy. This also goes for spy and sniper because spies soft counter you by having you run the risk of instantly dying while looking right at the spy due to server bullshit, or sniper who I don't even need to explain. Pyro is the worst offender though because it doesn't take a lick of skill to instantly shut down a demoknight.
I think a lot of people hating fighting against pyro makes sense considering the jack of all trades, master of none role he has, so whenever you're fighting her he can always hit you with a weakness. Scouts? Airblast gets them out of close range. Soldiers? Projectile reflect. Demoman? Projectile Reflect. Engineer? projectile reflect and same as scout. Medic? Uber airblast. Sniper? Flare guns. Spy? everything. Basically, Pyro being hated to fight against makes sense because that's the point, she is meant to be a jack of all trades where he can always best you in at least one category [barring like, heavy of course and some situations].
Tldw; everyone has their own predisposed opinions on this game, and thats ok. I dislike pyro from my own experiences fighting him, and you don’t have to agree

And Why 2016 People want fix pyro ? if heavy won 2016, Pyro already fixed now. But Present its not. i hate community 2016. and Valve trash can update too.

Overall I agree that disliking a class for your own personal opinions is okay but I feel this won't stop people from taking it personal as I also believe that to be a really big issue when it comes to the topic of liking and disliking something.
weapon reskins in tf2 have always been always been a strange case to me-
My name is Yoshikage Kira.
On one hand if you like how a weapon works but hate how it looks it's nice to have another option to choose from.
I’ve never seen W+M1 work this effectively before
The flamethrower is a metal rod full of gas
that powehouse reflect sounds like a deeply traumatic event lmfao
Though, this is more of an issue with Heavy imo as at least with Pyro the latter has a nice variety of unique unlocks and playstyles to make up for it.
yeah fighting a pyro usually result in either booth of the side dies, rarely does anyone escape from a fight with a pyro, especially when he wip out his flamethrower and glue the w key down
Can’t wait for the new EmpLemon tweet
god wtf are those hit sounds
What about dragon’s breath pyro? Because I think It solves all but one problem you mentioned. That problem being air blast, and as a dragon’s breath pyro I don’t use it very much.
I want to correct you but i won't
Combo Pyro has an extremely high skill ceiling, but I agree that Pyro seems to only encourage w+m1.
@@kahonk269 its really not as hard as people give it credit for. i could go on about the airblast mechanic restricting airstrafing, making followup shots brainrot easy but this is a youtube comment lol
while I am a pyro main, i see your point and respect them, pyro is pretty easy to get some kills, but saying that they will never evolve past w + m1 is a bit of a stretch imo, pyro's can equip shotgun, which is the stock secondary, forcing to use the shotgun a good amount of times, which does take skill to land, the flare gun is arguably one of if not the most skill reliant unlock for pyro, if not the majority of the weapons of tf2, although im sure there are other weapons that are more skill expresive and reliant than the flare gun, and, i also have to talk about the dragona fury, which you have to learn the projectiles behaviour, how to combo and deal burst damage, track enemies, plus you can get the dragons fury for free due to contracts, thus being one of the weapons f2p pyro's are more exposed to, the weapon is high risk high reward, due to slow airblast, missing making your firing speed drop dramatically, and having to adapt to the projectile
tl;dr: your point is valid but the game also encourages new pyro players to try out the dragons fury due to contracts, perhaps encouraging them to try out weapons that arent, as you put, "newbie traps", plus airblast takes a good chunk to learn and pull it off succesfully, have a good day even though its been like 9 months and you probably wouldnt see it
the 2 worst things about fighting pyro are how hard it is to see through the flames and airblast removing airstrafing
I wonder if theres scripts to remove those particles
@@MenderSlen579as a pyro main it affects us too, they really need to lower the opacity on it
New Zenith upload!! Love to see it!!
At least in my opinion
i'm surprised so many people here have issues with pyro
i main demoknight i can barely deal with pyros but i never saw anything wrong with pyro

A good thing to keep in mind is that this game is old:
People have already said everything there is to say about it
They just aren't here anymore \ don’t bother to repeat that.
(just look at the steam community pyro guides)
1. scout outranges pyro.
5. If you give respect to others, they will give respect to you
Just keep that in mind if you wanted a more nicely written comment from me that isn't only aimed at telling you how wrong you are and how provoked I am. (because the comments that count are the ones written quickly and not the ones that had thought put into them)
And saying that you are right, doesn't make you right.
I hope it was fun to read
Have a nice day.
As a pyro main I agree with you
Remember
*Every* class has a purpose
If your least favourite class didn't exist, the game would suffer
Delete Pyro/airblast, and Soldier and Demo would become even stronger than they already are, wich would ruin the game
I wish it took more skill to combust people like you need to hit them at the tip only
You then could afterburn have the ability to spread to others when they come close/in contact.

You tell em zenith!
"Why should I have to change my loadout to counter pyros"
Well because TF2 isn't the same every time you play it and you need to change things up if you want to win. I don't understand your way of thinking. Of course you need to be able to adapt to what the enemy is doing, that's like the entire point of playing the game.
Adapting to the team is fine, but adapting to one player who has a core mechanic that is annoying isnt.
@@zenithzvMost the classes in the game have very powerful core mechanics and you cannot expect to be able to win if you never change class or loadout. Each class is strong against some classes and weak against others, if you don't like this then TF2 is not the game for you.

@@heavyion not really. What you described takes a lot of coordination. Something we both know there's not a lot of in pubs. Also dead ringer sucks ass. It's only good if you're playing gun spy or you're a trickstab god. Or if the enemy team is very bad I guess
I will always think of Bing Soy and their Airblast into water and Zapper combo

YT: Why I Hate Zenith.
im an avid pyro hater but i completely disagree with the shotgun take
im likely biased because its my favorite weapon in the game, but thats what sidegrades are supposed to be, change your weapon to adapt to the situation
for instance; soldiers are rocket jumping all the time, then you equip the reserve shooter to shut them down
or on heavy, if your medic isnt healing you as much, equip the Family business or the banana
5:08 no I totally agree with you, I don't think that's contrarian at all zenith, although I am a spy main so I may be biased.
babe wakeup new zenith video that will start flamewars just dropped
edit: that fucking hitsound.
I... Don really agree with the whole airblast argument
There arent many pyros who airblast (or at least correctly) due to a big majority of them being new players.
Plus with soldier there are some rocket launchers that have faster firing speed, you gotta keep that in mind if you wanna airblast him or you'll die
Zenith you forgot to put the weapon reskins hitsound in the description :(
Pretty Vibey, Humble and Humanistic Discussion
You have some Great Points
But You also Have to Be Efficient
Pyro Is Brokey
Some of His Weapons Are just not There Sometimes and Others Are very Useless
He’s The Top Unbalanced Class, besides Demo
For Himself and Others
But You can’t just Obliterate Him because of That and some Absurd Keyboard Debates won’t Fix That
Gameplay Design Is a Very Delicate Balance
Everything has to come Together
I think he made this video to advertise his weapon reskin hitsound and killsound
How the fuck does he dare mald about pyro while he's playing sniper 💀
My only problem with pyro is the lack of tracking. It is fucking BRUTAL to play against a wm1 pyro as medic. You can’t dodge a stream of flames and you can’t outrun them. They need only to connect 5 of the shitswarm of particles to kill you. Can’t hide behind my team either because fire goes through people. If I try to go up for a ubersaw against them I take 6000 damage and they can just blast me back. Pyro’s flamethrower needs to be somehow more like the mini guns where some prediction is needed and you can’t wave your magic wand in the air and come out with 3 kills.
You can outrun the flame particles, and they do less damage the further away you are
I don't think you're wrong.
Then pyros become a free kill pretty much.
soldier is easy af xd
@@damianateiro do a rollout
@@ReddestRosa If a new user uses a soldier for the first time, he will be able to kill faster than with any other class, what's more, you don't even have to predict the opponent or aim directly at him, soldier has a low skill floor af but a high ceiling

@@ReddestRosa pyro is hard because axtinguisher combos exist
when it comes to pyro everyone starts shouting shit and stuff but he isn't all of that and in this video you just said what you think and done, good video and I really like this types of videos
as a pyro main, i cant blame you
I don't remember where I saw this, but one time I read a comment from a guy that went something like "flame particles are considered projectiles so Pyro actually takes more effort to aim hitscan"
tbh he was probably trolling, but if he wasn't then it was without a doubt the stupidest thing I've ever heard a tf2 player say
The main problem with pyro is that he exists no im totally not a spy main
The cigarette profile picture definitely helps your argument
Valve: removes pyro
*You can't hate something that doesn't exist*
hating pyro is reddit
And Why 2016 People want fix pyro ? if heavy won 2016, Pyro already fixed now. But Present its not. i hate community 2016. and Valve trash can update too.
Why did you hide this video?
the airblasting, combos or the good ones arent hard to kill, but its usually the ones that you expect to retreat cause they smart after taking 75% damage from you, they instead dash forward and instant kill you, the more bizzare the enemy pyro play, the worse it is to fight them cause you cant read them, this apply to everyclass, but at least you have better chance fighting other classes.
Its dumb but quite fun :)
seems to me you just dont use the dragon's fury
Which hud is it
you can hate pyro as much as you like but bad mouthing the shotgun? unforgivable.
Shotgun is one of the worst options on soldier
@@zenithzv as i am bad at soldier it's a very good backup after i beef my rockets :p i run the shotgun a lot of the time and find good use for it. anyway i guess yous got a "different playstyle" or "know what you're doing" on the soldier if you dont want the shotty. cheers mate

I’m probably gonna be the one of the only people who say this but pyro takes skill if you want it to like the Detonator like that one guy lazy played with that was pyro like demo doesn’t take skill if you don’t try and spam stickies which is most people and heavy you just jump a corner and rev and kill you or like some other class like that because you can be really good with it like rocket jumping with air blast or cool tricks but people will still say pyro got no skill
Edit: I’m surprised no one has tried to crucify me yet
LETS LIST THE THINGS PYRO CAN DO.
Can deflect every projectile in the game other than bullets.
Has the ability to remove sappers.
Kills nearly as fast as a heavy
Same speed as a spy
Extremely good against spies with the flames
Can kill you with afterburn EVEN IF THEY ARE DEAD.
Is able to extinguish teammates with air blast and GAIN HEALTH WHILE DOING IT.
Debuffs:
He doesnt have alot of range and he has only like 200 hp
*is the second worse class in the game
Tldw; if you hate pyro, its because you suck at fighting against pyros' and you often bring up " w+m1'ers "when talking about why.
As a pyro main I find him fun to play and fun to fight

Hey zenith,I think that me and maybe other people would be interested in a video of how you became friends with the other TF2 youtubers
I play combo pyro (stock, flare, and axetish) and I can kill a heavy but he’s still someone I want to avoid unless he is busy with someone else
But if you see a pyro and you can just run than do that, but if you're ever caught off guard, you're pretty much done for
@@MrMaIicenot many pyros can reflect 4 rockets back to back as long as you shoot predictably, and a demoman can shoot faster than a pyro can reflect
@@aidenb3069 They don't need to reflect 4 rockets, if they reflect 1 rocket it deals about 100~150 damage, and they still have a primary/secondary weapon to finish them off with. same for demo (135 per pipe), Once again, I'm not saying it doesn't take skill to reflect, just that in the right hands its unfair to projectile classes
finally. a video I can support.
Tbh i thought this for a while, now i only go for flare combos and that's fun af
Certified zenith moment
Actually airblast against scouts is bad, you can’t reflect their bullets so they can just stay out of your flamethrower range and mess you up.
