Mahmood is one of the most interesting artist in Italy in this moment. He invented Marocco pop and it's a brand new thing also for Eurovision fans. I know it's going to spread in all Europe during next years.

@@TaurusGirl22 you're welcome ! For example, this is the first time I follow Esc just because I like Mahmood, but usually italians don't follow Eurovision, maybe they just watch the final because there is on the TV. I have to watch the lives of Spanish TV or ESCUnited to see the reharsals because there are not italian journalists or bloggers doing that. In Italy there is Sanremo Festival that is very very important, so italians have their own music festival. Then, there is the idea that Eurovision is a "trash" festival and that Italy is not appreciated.... after il volo, gabbani, mengoni there is more and more this idea. Italians don't love in general this kind of exhibitions, this shows with this sometimes trash stagings... it seems a little bit American style, they prefer to focus on the song with very basic staging as in Sanremo(do you remember Marco Menngoni alone, singing "l'essenziale" in 2015 or 2013?.he was great but in Esc you have no possibility to win with this kind of performance... ). This year I have seen there are also good songs and it's a nice competition, sometimes funny but nice, and I'm sure mahmood is very happy to participate. After Sanremo he said at once he wanted to participate to Esc then, he explained few times ago, his team in Universal music said to wait because in the same period there was the release of his album, his tour, they have to see if Mahmood could manage all these things in the same time.... he explained "I had no doubt but my team asked me to wait a moment to confirm my participation". For him it is a huge opportunity to be known also abroad because he's young, talented, has an international style and sound (he has just released two new versions of soldi, one with maikel delacalle one with isac elliot) , he's also a songwriter for others (Hola of mengoni has been written by Mahmood music and words), he likes featuring with other artists (I'm sure he'll do something with Rosalia) so for him it's great to be in tel aviv in front of all Europe. Even if he doesn't win I think he's one of the most or maybe the most interesting artist there.

@@user-ou2ys9uc2u im not from Italy i following Sanremo for me its even stronger then all Eurovision my favourits this year was Ultimo n1 then Ilvolo and Irama but i like Mahmood too. :) Ultimo is amazing tbh.

    • @TaurusGirl22
      @TaurusGirl22 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Clara A. Wow thank you again for the explanation, I became a huge fan of Mahmood after San Remo, and all his interviews , radio interviews and everything was in Italian, I couldn’t understand a word.
The only things in English were articles in European and American newspapers about the uproar that his win caused in Italy, and how even politicians and other artists got involved (what a shame). Can’t believe that “Soldi” came only 7th in televote between all that bunch of boring songs (don’t get me wrong mostly i like italian songs).
I felt so sorry for this talented and sweet guy who did no one harm and always says he’s 100% Italian.
But in contrary to San Remo, at Eurovision he’s most liked participant, he has least haters, least dislikes and always only positive comments and so many fans were mad in the comment section when Eurovision channel was late with uploading of his rehearsal video😆
About Eurovision haha it’s the same here in Belgium. Most people find it trash and spending of tax payers money, famous artists don’t want to participate. So again I’m happy that such a talented artist as Mahmood was humble and wanting to participate ❤️ love him even more.

There was an interview of Mahmood during the Eurovision Song Contest in
Palestine, and Mahmood was asked about his feelings on the situation in
the Middle East because of his Egyptian origins, he answered that he was
not Egyptian but Italian, and that he liked the openness in Tel Aviv.
Well, Mahmood, does it mean because you're Italian you're indifferent to
the Palestinian sufferings. There is a powerful sentence from Jewish
author Elie Wiesel (1928-2016) about indifference :
"The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of
art is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not
heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it's
    indifference."

They asked him if he was doing Ramadan, and he said he was a Christian. They asked him if he still lived in a ghetto... If these are questions, the problems have them journalists, not him.

When you don't know anything about a topic it is better to admit it immediately instead of pretending to be an expert and say bullshit.
The guy knows practically nothing about those places, they aren't part of the history and culture in which he was born and raised, any comment on his part makes no sense. And those questions are also irritating especially because they are continually connected to the part of his family that he doesn't know. Alessandro was born and raised in Italy, he doesn't speak Arabic (he knows only a couple of sentences because they are reminiscent of when he was children and his father lived with him) and he is a Christian Catholic, it's tiring to have to answer questions that classify him as a foreigner in the country where he was born and where his ancestors were born (his mother is Italian, as well as his whole maternal family). They also asked him what his life in the ghetto was like... GHETTO?? In Italy there are no "ghettos", except the ancient Jewish ghettos that are beautiful and often very expensive places! Alessandro grew up on the outskirts of Milan in a normal family surrounded by normal people, he didn't grow up in a "ghetto" just because he has a foreign father and in his song he says it's hot in the suburbs (ie it's summer and it's sunny).

    • @Anthony_Gx

the question was asked in Israel, not palestine! And if you've seen the interview he CLEARLY stated that he did not want to have to do with ANYTHING political. So why are you making this political. it's about music and fun. Stop this shit just because it's in Israel! Also the reason he specifically stressed that he is italian, is because some people in italy can be very racist. Even the vice-president critized him and his song for not being proper ' italian' . So that's why he stressed that he IS italian. it's where he lived all his live, it's his language, it;s who he is. Stop trying to force some political shit on him and don't even try to put words in his mouth about being indifferent about whatever palestinian suffering you're referring to

why do we expect artists and stars to be "adhd" (with all respect) and hyperactive? ;-) The performance is on stage, and it's a SONG contest, being calm and down to earth doesn't make you a lesser artist (perhaps on the contrary).
He is more fluent but equally humble in italian too.
