That my home area ... i live next to that market .... actually feeling blessed for been born there as all the basic requirements are available under same roofs .... example fresh vegetable, fruits, butchery, and the big police station is situated there ... so we feel secured all the time, and whole area as seen in drone is business area where we can buy imported shoes and clothes from, china, thailand, india and elsewhere ... and hundreds of health centres are available there. Pharmaceutical services, supermarkets, education centres, hotels, cellphone network providers, cosmatics, restuarents, car spare parts and tyres are avalaible there ... in short each line of street is specialised in selling certain goods or services .... thats why thousands of chines company or wholesallers are based there and making good money for more than 3 decades now 😊 .... all you need is to take care of your bag and cellphones, They dont rob using weapon but there are some blessed high qualified pocket pickers .... otherwise its best place to be visited ... we welcome all to our beautiful bongo land 👍✌

Am historian and archeologist born and live in Dar Es Salaam Tanzania. German never bought the kariakoo area as started in this video, the kariakoo started as the third zone due to segregational city planning by German colonial government. They took the whole waterfront area for themselves, the second zone was special for Indians and Arabs and mnazi mmoja area was to separate local people from these two zones. Just in summary.

    • @ArchitectRussell

Well if there was German government they must have bought it no?

Architect Russell after establishing the colonial rule first in Bagamoyo as their capital and then shifted to Dar Es salaam in 1891 the German colonial government paid compassions to Sultan Balgash of Zanzibar only because his brother Sultan Said Majdi (who renamed Mzizima to Dar Es Salaam) and died in 1870 had left stone buildings and coconut plantations but about local people were never paid to but their land was forceful taken away.

Where later he build white house. And other buildings. That happened before European comes to Africa. My friend before to make your video is better lean history first.
