I'm so happy to find your adorable feathered baby on here!! I've been searching for videos of Parrotlets, and your baby boy makes me so happy to watch him frolic and do his happy lil birdie things! Give him smoochies from me! I look fwd to enjoy all of his cheerful videos! 💛🐤🐥💙
Thank you so much. He is a precious little bird. I have had birds all my life and worked and managed 2 bird stores in my day. This is my first parrotlet and he is soooo smart. He is like another human in the house. They are accident prone so I keep him clipped (which I do myself) so he walks around the house and has toys all over. We have to be VERY careful not to step on him. But he has his favorite places and his most favorite is my shoulder. And he is very playful. However..... he requires A LOT of attention. I am retired and stay at home so he gets that from me and my husband too. They bond to one person. He bonded to me. Now says "Mommy Loves Me".
They sure are Steve. My little guy is always out of his cage when we are home and he never ceases to amaze us with the things he does. I have had birds all my life, even in my childhood my dad raised budgies. I have worked in two bird stores. Just birds. And I never seen a parrotlet till about 10 years ago. We got Casey at 6 weeks old and he'll be 7 years old this March 30. You are so right about the comical things they do and the big attitude. It also amazes us how smart he is and how he works things out when he wants something. I can't imagine having two pairs! They must bring you such joy. Thanks for your comment.
Our house bird loves to sit and watch you wash dishes. He showers with his Mom. And he loves to sit in his water bowl and splash the bird sitter me with water when I'm not talking to him. He has free reign of the house when Mom is home he doesn't mind me as well as her. He will be moving in with her in the next week and I'm going to miss him big time.
What a beautiful bird and I’m glad she took the sponge out of the sink lol and it is a lot of water to use to wash a small bird I have the same bird and u can buy a bird bath. But very cute
HI Denise, yes he is very cute....thank you. He doesn't always take a bath in the sink but he wont go in any bird bath I have offered him. He will bathe in the drain board if I move the dish rack out of his way and spill some water in it. I have had all kinds of birds all my life and I have also worked in birds stores. I have a lot of experience with all size birds but I always preferred small ones in my home. This little guy is so cute and so smart. He is a Parrotlet but you probably know that because you said you have the same bird. Do you have any videos on youtube of yours? I'd love to see them. I got Casey at 6 weeks old from a breeder and he will be 5 in March. I love, love, love him. Thank you for your interest.
Aw this is a great video. So cute. My beloved budgie Bullet used to do this. She recently died due to tumors. I'm hoping to get a Parrotlet and this is one of the colors I am considering.
get ready for lots of moodiness and territorialness then, mine screeches whenever I eat in front of her, screeches when I turn my computer on or touch anything that's not her, but she can be endearing at times when she isn't trying to rip flesh off my finger tips.
I had budgies all my life. My dad used to breed them. It's unfortunate that tumors are very common in budgies. I'm sorry you lost your precious Bullet.
@@caseymccarthy767 Aww thanks for replying. I'm still coping with that loss and been breeding and raising babies trying to get another one of the rare color. She was a white lacewing. I have videos up of the current babies i'm working with. Yeah it is common in them sadly.
Thank you, he is very fast and just as adorable. I see you mentioned you bird doesn't take a bath. I have had birds all my like and have worked in bird stores and never met a bird that didn't like water. Have you tried different ways to offer your bird a bath? What kind of bird do you have and how old is he or she?
My two parrotlets don't get bathing. They sit by the water, getting all fluffy and flapping their wings, etc., but don't want the water to touch them. Whenever there's the tiniest of droplets hitting them, they're freaking out and flying away in panic. No matter what I try, the result ist always the same, it's so frustrating...
To tame a bird as tame as Casey is you should start with a baby bird between 2 to 3 months old and spend lots of time with it. I am retired and am home with Casey all the time. He is very bonded to me. I never trained him to do anything. I just let him do what he wants to do as long as it is safe for him. He gets lots of love and care. I keep his wings clipped for his own safety so he doesn't fly into windows or ceiling fans. I have lots of ladders going to his play areas and he is out of his cage the majority of the day......but he is always supervised. I never leave him out if I am not in the same room. He also spends a lot of time on my shoulder and will take a nap under my hair. All birds are different but if you give them lots of care and lots of attention and toys to play with and a large cage for their comfort you will have a bird that is calm and tame and want to be your friend.
I only saw my parrotlet take a bath 2x. I bought him a flowery water fountain. Waiting for it to arrive. I also have a bathtub, but he doesn't trust it yet.
Green is their actual color in the wild. But they breed them in a variety of colors. White. A Very Light Blue, Yellow, Different shades of Green. I even seen a Violet one.
He likes cool water but not cold. He lets me know when he wants a bath. Whenever I am washing dishes or run the water for anything he will come to the sink and let me know he wants to get wet. Then I set up a safe environment for him and put the ladder in the sink and he goes in on his own, but I supervise the entire bath and I gently splash him a bit to get his back wet. He won't go directly under the faucet. All parrotlets have different personalities and likes and dislikes. But all of them require a lot of attention. You must spend lots of time with him and let him outside the cage in the daytime. And you must provide a safe area outside his cage. If he has flight be careful of ceiling fans, mirrors, and windows. Also a hot stove and even an open toilet seat could be dangerous. Give him lots of love and attention and you'll have a good and trusting bird. Best of luck to you.
This may be an odd question but do you have a picture of the inside of his wings? I'm writing a character with wings like this lil borb but since they're so rare there doesn't seem to be an image of them
I do but he was very young and the colors weren't as brilliant as they are now and also in was the outside of his wings not the inside. But if you just google 'Parrotlet Images' you will definitely find photo's of them with their wings open.
give him a little pool and turn down the river, he's just a little bird,, really pretty with the blue under his wings,, I think it's a he ,,maybe not. your whole approach is 2 loud, soften up , don't bark at him or talk loudly...hes a little bird not a horse.
Yes, he is a he and he loves the river! He won't bathe in a little pool of water, we tried a dish. We got him at 6 weeks old and he'll be 4 next March. He loves me to bark at him and talk loudly cause he knows I love him. He is out of his cage more than he is in it and he is on my shoulder as I am typing. He is very lovable and gets lots of love in our home.
he's not a budgie. Budgies have long tails and small beaks. Casey is a hookbill parrot with a fan tail like the Amazon parrot. His breed comes from Peru. I got him from a breeder.
Seriously all this water wasted for a little tiny bird? I hope that not all his baths are like this. It's such a wast of water even if he is so cute. It is too much I think

Warning! Risk of "cuteness overdosing"!!!
Thank you. He his personality matches his cuteness.
He's so active. Maybe he's the Michael Phelps parrotlet. He runs around that sink faster than Michael.
this is sooo sweet!! Thanks for sharing 😁.
I have two bonded pairs that were all hand fed as babies. They are such comical little Parrots with big attitude!

He did a summersault. Nice.
Yes, I finally got it on film doing his somersault.

My parrotlet won't go near water its started itching itself it needs a bath anyone got any ideas
Have you tried using a spray bottle? Some parrots are afraid of baths so a spray bottle can be an alternative
Why not use a pie plate?

Parrots love loud noises, stop backseat commenting on how she should raise her birb.

he's beautiful little fella.looks like a budgie not parotlet .he wants a little pool to go in
It's a parrotlet. Budgies have bars on their heads(certain mutations) and have long tails.
Yes he is a parrotlet, not a budgie, and he won't go in a little pool, he loves the big sink.
