Vincent Van Gogh is a true inspiration of all art styles. His life may have been shitty, but if he had stayed alive for another decade or so, he would have realised that not everything in life is bad. Doctor Who episode 'Vincent and the Doctor' is truly one of the best things I have ever seen
Apparently he was in better spirits in his last several months despite the teasing from the boys...his art was beginning to gain traction..what a tragedy...
This makes perfect sense. I can imagine those kids doing it, easily. And their dad took them and split town with them that night or the next day. I always wondered what happened to his painting equipment. I bet they gathered it up and took it with them. Then probably dumped it in the river. It's such a crushingly sad story. I think more so than the suicide version.
Regis.. Mine too. A person would not shoot himself in the stomach to end their life. And yes the absence of the gun and the painting supplies lead to me to the conclusion that the boys did kill Vincent. I don't know if it was an accident or on purpose. Either way I personally feel that he welcomed death. Tragic soul. I suffer with depression and I can so identify with Vincent.
Baby Bunker ; We're on the same page. I was born 100 years after his birth almost to the day, and by sheer luck had the chance to see his actual paintings in an exhibit. I feel a connection. > LOVE
Regis Now that is funny.. My Granddaughter's B-day is March 30th. What a coincidence. "100 years after his birth almost to the day. "Wow. Oh how I envy you for being able to see his actual paintings. I would have died on the spot. As an artist who has painted through depression I absolutely feel a connection with him too. I adore Vincent and l feel a connection with others who also do. He was so vulnerable. So very fragile. When I hear "Starry Starry Night" I turn into a puddle of tears.
The theories advanced here about van Gogh are based 100% on speculation, rumor, and gossip. No solid facts were given to prove that he either had epilepsy or that he was even murdered. Many people try to associate themselves with famous people, especially when the famous person is not alive to refute the story. The "new" information offered here could very well have come from people eager to get their "15 minutes of fame", regardless of what they had to say to get there. I myself am too busy appreciating Vincent's work to be bothered by such speculation, rumor, and gossip about essentially trivial aspects of his life. ... Art.Curator.2016@gmail.com
I believe that Rene Secretan shot Vincent either accidentally or on purpose. Rene carried an unreliable 38 pistol with him everywhere and most likely got into an argument with Vincent and shot him. Rene tormented Vincent mercilessly and at first, Vincent wasn't upset about it thinking that it was just the pranks of a wild 16 year old teenager. However, the harassment got worse. Much worse. No one who intends to commit suicide would shoot themselves in the torso. They would opt for in the mouth or against the head. The bullet didn't go through Vincent's body and it missed his vital organs. However, because there were no antibiotics back then, the bullet caused an infection and that's what Vincent died from. Had penicillin been discovered and available, Vincent would have lived and would have been cured of syphilis he most likely had. His brother Theo also had it and would die a year later in a mental hospital. If Vincent had survived but Theo passed away, who would have supported Vincent financially I wonder. Vincent knew that he was a burden on his brother and felt remorseful about it. He did say on his death bed that everyone would be better off if he (Vincent) were gone.
He was killed by the teenager, without a doubt. I believe had Vincent lived on when Theo died.. Vincent would have returned to Paris and possibility stayed with Theo’s wife and child.. to help sell his works. Theo’s wife Jo.. actually took over Theo’s business when he died, and had sold Vincent’s paintings. Vincent’s art at that stage, had started to become noticed.. and he may have continued painting and had been supported by Theo’s wife Jo.. to continue bringing in income. Theo and Vincent had actually established a business partnership with each other.. where Vincent would paint, and Theo would sell the painting to finance Vincent’s life.. as well as Theo’s business. That’s why Vincent painted every day.. (it was his end of the bargain so to speak). Also, the story that Vincent was poor was untrue. He felt responsible for being a burden on Theo, because Theo had become ill, and Vincent’s paintings weren’t selling at that stage. At the end.. Theo’s wife Jo, worked tirelessly putting Vincent on the map.. and bringing his work the fame it has had. There’s many fables to Vincent’s story. It seems the Hollywood struggling tortured artist “story”.. sells.!
Agree, no powder marks were found. A person who commit suicide doesn't shoot himself in the belly in an impossible angle on the left side while he was righthanded.....
If it was today....They would have considered homicide....None of it makes sense, even Vincent saying don't blame anyone...One would not think to say that, and also the way he was shot, also doesn't make sense....It would have been figured out....and it would NOT have been Vincent! I'm not saying he was not depressed, etc...I just do NOT believe he killed himself...Or he could have picked the gun up and shot himself in the head after he did not do the job....Instead of running away...Who was he running from? This story was done very well.... May God bless Vincent's soul!
I agree with the theory. A suicide attempt via a shot to the upper abdomen never made sense. Bullying heckler offspring of the well-to-do is certainly plausible. But it doesn’t change the tone of who he was and the McLean song is still relevant. (Part 1 th-cam.com/video/nKtFM3J_At8/w-d-xo.html)
Finally, This is the way it happened not suicide. There is more evidence for this than the mythology the world has been happily acceapting in the past.
My guess is that Part 1 of this particular edition of 60 minutes was a totally different story. The periodic fades in and out of sound and picture may be a way to avoid automated copyright protection scans from finding this upload and forcing its removal by legal threat.

maybe the kids were messing with him and said if he came at them they wld shoot him and they did not really understanding the consequences or for whatever reason they did and that was the way he chose to die or thought they wld not but by this time he did not care and thats why he said i guess so about killing himself.
They fail to mention that when the doctor told Vincent he may recover from the internal bleeding he said he hoped he wouldn't because then he would have to go and shoot himself again. Sure, suicide can be thought of as sinful but so were many activities Vincent took part in.
Vincent saying he hoped he wouldn’t recover.. could easily have been said to cover up the truth of being shot by the kids. Vincent used the suicide story to cover up. He would have said anything plausible as a suicide.. to protect the kids. Hence the reason Vincent said.. “don’t blame anyone”.
@@pbtraveler694 If he healed he wouldn't have to endure all of his life again, and if he did mean simply 'endure life again' that's a very strange way to phrase it. I think he knew he was dying and given that he had failed to suicide previously, wanted this attempt to be the last.
@@grahambates7162 I see it differently, but sadly we'll never know for sure. Since I think there's good evidence that it wasn't suicide, I'm inclined to think of it as I do. But I can see your side of it too.
Like most of these stories they don't mention that he had epilepsy and he refers to his illness in his letters; the man had seizures that is a fact!!! Get over it!!!

I LOVED that episode. If only he could have had a glimpse of what he would mean to people like that in real life.
IMO Without a doubt, the greatest painter who ever lived. Like the Dr. Who episode said, also the most beloved.
Lust for Life is one of my favorite movies but I'll never watch it the same way again.

Okay guys, now get to work on solving the JFK assassination. :)
Brilliant.

so the video doesn't get flagged by youtube's automatic copyright detector.

Why does this keep cutting out a ton of times??? Annoying.
probably commercial breaks?
Where is Part one?
This gave me a seizure.
The gun was found about 100 years later and sold at an auction for 175.000 Dollars!
It wasn't proven to be THE gun, it was one similar to it.
❤ ah 60minutes idaKhan khan tell us more about AreYouVincent 🎨
VINCENT DID NOT DIE,,,,HE SIMPLY WENT AWAY.
Why don't they exhumed the body and and do a post autopsy.
I love this good ending.
Kurt Cobain claimed to have horrible stomach pain. I am using a Tens Unit to reset Vagus Nerve which could help digestion.
Best abstrack
Why does the video keep blacking out every so often, so annoying.
Is the tv host drunk?
no, just old and maybe not well; he was very good in his day, but probably not the best for this presentation.

what he said was, "I'd have to do it all again." He'd have to endure his life again, which had been so painful.

🤣🤣🤣 Take a deep breathe. Calm tf down.
Also whether he has seizures or not has nothing to do with the way he died.
some have claimed "temporal epilepsy" which is not the same as the kind where you have "fits."
The interviewer has 0 personality.
