- A 360 video generated by a computer simulation (Unity Game engine) of Laue Scattering using Duane's 1923 quantum scattering rule.
Interestingly, Duane's model integrates work from two rivals, Neils Bohr and Albert Einstein, putting together principles from Bohr's quantum rule for the quantization of momentum, and l;inking them together with the principles of Einstein's photoelectric effect.
Duane's work provides a powerful way to understand the scattering of photons and particles by crystals as a quantum effect, rather than the conventionally taught classical wave interference model.
In doing so, my hope is to demonstrate that this work is valuable and may hold new clues as to how we might think of classical and quantum physics as unified, not separate realms.
