Some people can invison a dirt slope for drainage and others can pick a old rusty car and make it a show piece that's what makes the world go round. Great as always.
Hi Brent, I used to work as a site emergency services officer and while it’s after the event I want you to consider this next time. The contractors were digging in clay and deep trenches. For safety the trencher dug out a battered side around 45 degree slope so people could work in there. The clay cracked but didn’t fall out. Your soil was even less stable. I admit that I was worried watching you do the joint. Stay safe for Esther and all those you love. It’s good to see the progress , you must feel good about it.
A fun ruiner would have just scolded him and left it at that. This guy cared enough to comment politley and offer a simple means of staying safe while still getting the job done. 2 more minutes with the excavator would have made all the difference.
I am Currently an Operator/Foreman for a Utility Contractor, Mainly the Deeper Sewer but Even at those Depths I have Witnessed less Scary Excavation’s Fail. Every Excavation Will Most Definitely Fail, It’s just a matter of When it Will. Best to keep the Spoils off the Top of the Excavation by a Couple Three Feet also, remove a Ton of Overburden on Mother Earth. Only cause We Care!
My heart hurt watching the search for the waterline!! I have been on those types of treasure hunts and I know that is no fun!! No fun at all!! Great to see how well the new shop is coming!! It’s gonna be a super shop when you are done!!
That water line is well hidden. And if it’s that Deep never have to worry about freezing up. Except where it comes up to the building. Got it going on. Thanks Brent.💯👍🙏🏻
I love how old Pablo blends in so well with dirt. He has natural camouflage for dirty shop floors and construction sites! Great to see the shop coming together.
I tell you what that water line was deep in the ground really deep it won't freeze so glad to see the materials arriving on your shop pretty soon you'll have it
Scorched ground, usually produces, fertile product...........An end or road block, is often the beginning......So yeah, i guess all of this up until recently....has been practice.....lol ....Glad to see you overcome the fire......
Sold building materials to contractors for many years always love the job sites. Learned a lot from those good old boys. Getting close. Like, share and let’s build a few walls. ⚒
You have been so resourceful and resilient through this whole process. Good things happen to good people. Your hard work and perseverance is unprecedented. Nothing half azz about half ass kustoms You are always all in to make it happen. . Thanks for the great content.
Hi Brent, I’ve watched your videos for a long time now and really like everything you do and I can’t wait to watch this shop get built and your first project in it. others have mentioned it and I don’t want to be a nag but I know a bit about trenches and that one was extremely unsafe to enter because they collapse in an instant and if you’re in it you’re dead. There’s plenty of info available on how to make it safe. Take care of yourself. Cheers
It has been most exciting to see all that has been happening!! I give all glory to God our Father from whom all good gifts come from. He does it for all of His creations both those who believe in Him and even those who don't. I pray that you and your family would see Him in all of this and know His saving grace Brent!! 🙏
Brent, has your farm been in the family for awhile? I ask, because, I'm 60 years old. My farm has been in the family for 6 generations. I've buried power lines, water lines, and a lot of drainage tile. I've not been good about marking things, so whenever I "work from memory", my trenches are long and 2nd guessed alot. Thank God for siblings with varied talents
This is great news and I can't wait to see the new shop finished! keep moving forward the struggles you are going through right now are worth the reward.
It's looking good, Brent. Don't knock yourself because apart from the safety aspect, which did look a bit sketchy at times, I must admit, especially when you were about to connect your water, I think you did a bloody good job. 👍 Yes, there was soil tumpling down into your trench at times, but you plodded on and concored your goal. As a novice to groundwork, digging trenches, and landscaping, you should be proud of what you achieved. In years to come, while drinking beers with family and friends on the porch, you can look back and say, "i did that." It won't be long Brent before you can work at ease in your new shop. You will have several projects on the go all at the same time, and I can't wait to see it, but I'll guess I'll have to, I have no choice, do I? ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha 😁
I hope you're in a secluded area, as a hammer swinger in Manitoba I can tell you that every development in and around Winnipeg has been raided by thieves. It used to be just lumber, but now everything is up for grabs. In the past 2 years we've had 3 trailers stolen along with 4 house packages. 1 trailer and package was recovered thanks to the thieves not have any brain capacity 😂 that made the lac du bonnet news
If I was 30 years younger I'd come help you build your new shop just so we all could see you build more cars. Glad you were able find your water line. Was concerned seeing you in that deep hole that was collapsing. Glad you are still above dirt. Lol. Be safe. Till next time...
I see you have Millar Western lumber, I worked for a couple of contractors doing pipe fitting and millwrighting in their pulp mill in Whitecourt Alberta. Our oldest son hold timber into the mill and wood chips into the pulp mill. Millar, ANC and Blue Ridge mills are the main employers in this area. I'm glad to see the progress your making on your new shop you and your pups are sure going to enjoy it when you get moved in to it.
Looking great so far, and your brother does do a great job. Getting exciting now, the framing goes pretty fast, I should know, I was a rough in carpenter many years ago. I see Pablo is enjoying watching the building phases as well. Take care.
Really enjoying watching the rebuild. I’ve been building a small shop myself using my neighbours old stables which I dismantled and moved. It’s taking long though with constant distractions and the day-job
👍🏻Are there gold in those hills!!! The spoils should be 2 ft from the ditch and you should have had a spotter in case there were a cave in. Sorry, I did utility work for many years. Just want you to be safe.
Maybe for future, using witching rods to locate underground lines. I even use metal coat hangers . Straighten out with bend off about six inches to 90 degree thats what you hold. Pointing out in front of you, one in each hand. They will turn towards each other and line up over or under power lines. They are not magic, its EMF’s electromagnetic field’s.
Whole lot of digging but the water is in , I think you did justice to the unloading , now its up to the framing crew . Once the walls go up you will see the light at the end of the tunnel . Till next time , God Bless you and yours , Stuart in Ontario ..
That Red lift on the back of the semi truck reminded me so much of that Yellow fork Lift machine you got running those things are so Different lol ! KeWl seeing the progress on the shop can't wait ! Godspeed!
This is insane to go through, yeh. Whatta kick in the.... But there it is. Imagine the new shop will be beautiful and worthy of imagination like Brent has.
You have to dig a trench from the telephone pole over to your building or your electrical get a couple of long sweep elbows keep your elbow 6 inches away from the phone pole
The frost goes deep in that part of the country.👍🇨🇦
This new shop will be the envy of every guy that ever owned a tool box….. 👍👍
Sometimes a brother is good thing to have! Nice job brother!!
Some people can invison a dirt slope for drainage and others can pick a old rusty car and make it a show piece that's what makes the world go round. Great as always.
That trench was deep and dangerous! Stay safe!
That was extremely dangerous. He knew it caving in. The machine was right there. Lay the slope back where the connection was. Geez.

Goodness Yes - Safety First!
Also known as a fun ruiner
A fun ruiner would have just scolded him and left it at that. This guy cared enough to comment politley and offer a simple means of staying safe while still getting the job done. 2 more minutes with the excavator would have made all the difference.

Thats some rich dark loam soil. Thats ideal for farming. 👍🏼
Things are definitely moving for you. It wont be long before you are in your new shop. Loving the vids.
He’s like a surgeon with that bucket.👍
Your Brother has a very nice touch with those machines. It was nice to watch.
Had a thought while watching, would it help to have a wide angle mirror on the end of the stick pointed down so you can see the trench.? A thought.
It's looking good, Brent.
Don't knock yourself because apart from the safety aspect, which did look a bit sketchy at times, I must admit, especially when you were about to connect your water, I think you did a bloody good job. 👍

In the State of Michigan ( USA ) the water lines have to be 4 ft below ground ( frost line ). To prevent the lines from freezing.

Progress! Man I worried about you being down that deep in the unstable ditch. Going to be a great project!
Really enjoying watching the rebuild. I’ve been building a small shop myself using my neighbours old stables which I dismantled and moved. It’s taking long though with constant distractions and the day-job

We use what is known as a benching method when we dig trenches which is like a staircase and stops the sides from collapsing
Now the fun starts.

Some beautiful black soil there for growing crops for sure. You still keep a few cows to freezer yourself up a side each winter or so? So handy :-)
