DIY BOARD AND BATTEN ACCENT WALL | Perfect spacing FULLY explained

Join me as I show you, step-by-step, how I created this DIY Board and Batten Accent Wall in my living room - on a budget, for only $75! I have created diagrams and outlined the formula for calculating this particular design that you'll find it helpful if you decide to take on this project.
Here are a list of the supplies I used for this project:
Pre-cut MDF planks
Liquid Nails (or any heavy duty adhesive)
A level
Measuring Tape
Caulk
Spackling
Putty Knife
Paint - I used what I already had on hand: Valspar StormCoat 100% acrylic paint, finish appears to be Satin. [147019 Neutral Base] Color: Black (the lid is painted over, so I don't have the specific color)
Paint brush & Roller
Hammer/Nails (or Nail gun - optional)
Painters Tape
Sanding block
Pencil
Paper
Calculator
Saw (optional)
Note: When converting inches to feet, there are plenty of converters online to help you; simply search "inches to feet conversion"!

Regina, I did it! I followed your steps and took the measurements you gave me and built my wall and it looks fantastic. Best thing I ever made in my life. My neighbour saw it cuz I was making so much noise and loved it and I sent pics to my friends and none of them could believe I did it by myself. The beautiful part about this type of accent wall is that they don't have to be. If you conducted the hack I created, with the cardboard cutouts, you will get a good visual of how it would turn out. Rectangles look just as good as squares do 😊

@@diymakescents160 did you use a hammer or nail gun? If so what nails went through the MDF? And which gun you use? Sorry if you mentioned it i didn’t catch that.. thanks for your information!
I can't remember if I used nails or screws, but if you heard me say nails, I used a hammer. I marked the location of the studs on the boards and nailed them in until they poked thru the other side (to help speed up the process), at that point I took the board over to the wall and secured it in. I hope that makes sense.
