OH YA..Sarah you are making my ever lasting list into a book!!! LOVE IT!! My poor craft room....what a disaster..LOL So as you can tell yes I love this one too to try and make...maybe,,,LOL...camping first..LOL.....you have such great Talent girlie!!
Love him and love the ugly sweater idea! I recently found some cute elf patterned and reindeer patterned socks from Dollar Tree that I think will make an adorable Christmas gnome! 😊
Yes I would I would this saint Patrick's day I will when I get out my standing no homes I'll show you how big the big babies and then you can tell me how they look please have a good evening and may your holidays be happy
Your gnome is really beautiful. Me who asked myself how the body could balance on the wood dowels. A big thank you for the nice sharing. It is very generous of you. Danielle from Quebec, Canada
Aw thank you, Danielle. I do try and share tons of different ways to build the gnomes so everyone can make one based on their terms. Thank you so much for watching!
Omgoodness girl! Absolutely 💯 adorable 🥰 I lost my mom and daughter Shih Tzu fur babies last spring within a month of each other. They were 15 and 16 years old. When pulling out Christmas decorations I came across their Christmas sweaters. This will be a perfect idea on using their sweaters in remembrance of them. Tfs and God Bless 😘🥰💜
Good morning that was adorable I have never seen a standup gnome so you have educated me on gnomes which is awesome thank you so much and have a great day merry Christmas
@@trudyrobison2260 Oh I'm so glad, Trudy. Yeah, that velvet is not easy to work with. A friend of mine used minky fabric (from Joann's) and she said it was a bit easier than velvet.
@@SarahNenniDaher my daugther in law does her own too...I will start getting done again once we can all breath easy again...I'm hoping make a stand up gnome soon...been busy sold 6 large last week ..can believe my craft room is almost empty...did outside arrangements today ..we have no snow...be safe ..xox...
This Gnome is so far the most awesome 👏🏻 one and seeing that he is for Christmas by his clothes you could change it up for year round by having him wear your favorite colors that you like. And just think of the possibilities if you made a female Gnome with braided hair to match the male Gnome for Christmas or year round. WOW!!! 💖💖
I’m definitely going to give this gnome method a try! I recently made a possible sitting gnome where I stitched nearly all of it by hand, never again! He’s extremely cute, but if I choose to sew one in the future I’ll use my machine. I was visiting my mom, and making it for her so I couldn’t use my machine.
Oh wow - all by hand?! My fingers and joints would be screaming. I am actually working on another sewing pattern right now - to me, it's just so much faster and easier. Thank you for watching and for being here with me, Barbara.
Sarah Nenni-Daher Thanks for your reply. It was actually my neck and back that caught the worst of me sitting in the same position for too long. I wanted it done before I left my Mom’s yet I also didn’t want to give up any time visiting with her. I sat on the couch the whole time. Anyway it’s done, and hopefully I learned my lesson. Lol
As usual I found a gnome I must have missed and yes I fell in love with this one too!!! Sarah even in lock down nothing stops you or are you happy to filter out your craft room?...lol
This one doesn't use anything other than dowels, but the foam tubes used on legs and arms are usually foam hair rollers from the Dollar Tree. They are skinny bits of foam with a thin wire you can easily remove. You don't need them, however, because you can wrap a dowel or wire in fabric or batting to get the same effect. Hope that helps.
You can make a top or use a decorative sock for the "sweater" and add arms up under the hat (rolled from sock material, with the dollar tree curlers, or any other method).
You can watch that portion of the video starting at 1 minute and 44 seconds. The free pattern that I provide is here: shop.rufflesandrainboots.com/product/winter-bootie-pattern-gnome/
I hope you're farther along than I am with those gifts, Sharlene. I am trying to make a large gnome for my sister (a Christmas baking chef for her kitchen) and it has been... tricky. :)
@@SarahNenniDaher busy rushing day out for appointments! Well, I’ve got 2 outdoor throw pillows done, helped daughter complete 3 aprons, final touches of painting sign (wording already cut & ready to apply) beer Stein had to be returned (bad scratch/etch on inside). So once that’s replaced can etch it! But, purchased gifts for grandkids was done end of October! Hubby & mil all done! Now.... on the decking my halls! 😇🙃😆
This method making your gnome is awesome. You are explaining it so well. Thank you

Wellllll, looks like I got more use of my dowels now ^.^ now I need wood buttons for the nose

I love him. Have to see if I can find the sweaters still. Most of the time I find videos too late to find items.
I found these at Bed, Bath, and Beyond in the kitchen section if that helps. I know Pier 1 used to have some, but our store closed. :(

Is this a doll sweater? P.S. I LOVE him!!
Thank you. :) No, this is a wine bottle cover! LOL But honestly, you could totally use an 18" doll sweater, I bet.
