Love John. Awesome player. Super humble and really knows his shit. Some people think when he’s doing Rig Rundowns he doesn’t know as much as he does but that’s because he knows how to let the artist take the lead in the interview and not make it about him.
I’ve watched premier rig rundown for years and assumed he was an interviewer or guitar tech guy until he started putting out his own playing his vintage guitars during lock down. He always discusses the gear and it’s like he doesn’t even care how fantastic a player he is!
Google him and prepare to be impressed.
I think John used to or still does run the music at the CMA's .He is a badass 😎 player for sure(might be CMT's)

Keeley is my favorite pedal company. They make great sounding pedals for reasonable prices. No gimmicks or bullshit.
John is my favorite guitarist on TH-cam. Everything about his playing and personality is perfect.

I have a Keeley 2-knob compressor that's really nice. This mini version definitely captures that sound (very nice playing by John here too). PS - I met Robert Keeley recently at a music store and he seemed like a really good guy, along with being super talented at what he does.

I just got this pedal today and I’m blown away. I was looking at the wampler, keeley plus and sp exotic. Decided to keep it simple and I’m so glad I did. This thing rocks.
Same with me. I was looking specifically at those but went with the Keely mini, mine gets here in 2 days. I think this mini is underrated and overlooked, so I figured I give it some attention. It was either this or the Xotic SP but my friends at church have the Keely Plus so I thought it would be interesting to get the mini so we can see the differences

Love you ...Love the demo....but I won't own a compressor with out a mix/blend knob...IMO (mix/blend control).....its the single greatest innovation to compressor pedals.

It (mix/blend control) is really in there, we just set it for you with a ratio we've fell in love with. I think you're right, parallel blending is a wonderful thing.

Lowell Gorge use to put 2 mxr dynicomp’s before the the amp .sustain for day’s clean too!
Did he use Dynecomps? That’s great news if he did. I always assumed they meant he used 2 studio compressors.

And after I plug in, I will be able to play just like you?😂😅. The 2-knob Comp (the original) was the first Keeley pedal I ever bought. Needless to say, I have several Keeley pedals and follow them with great respect and glee. I may have to try this one, too. Had a great friend and top-tier sessioneer called J T Corenflos of whom you remind me, but tragically, he passed away far too young from (non-smoking) respiratory problems 😢. He turned me on to Nobel’s OD and a thousand other things over the years. Soooo …😢… it’s nice to have “met” you. Rock on and keep in touch. 😎🎸👨🏼⚕️🇬🇧🏴🇺🇸🏴😊. JT I miss you … Roctor.

@@johnbohlinger amazing playing John. I noticed you have a very quirky, angular and really dynamic style of playing. Who are your main influences and did you come up with that style on your own? Or is it an amalgamation of a bunch of different players because I’ve never heard anybody have that kind of spastic sliding everywhere while bending multiple strings. Did you try hard to come up with your own unique style or combine the best of what you liked from that favorite players? Thanks John 🙏🏼

The first thing in my head as soon as this was... WTF ? Did John get in The Time Machine to present Compression to Jimi ?
Like others Keeley has switched to crappy surface mounted mini components which increases their profits but means if the footswitch or any component fails, you bin the pedal.
Howdy Mark, I pleased to report we don't use crappy surface mounted components. And you don't have to throw away your pedals or your audio interfaces or your computers. We use the best sounding components and devices in our designs. We use surface mount parts just like Universal Audio, Strymon, Focusrite, Presonus, etc. Our service is the absolute best in the industry. Surface mount parts aren't harder to change, they're actually easier! My service department repairs units in 24 hours and gets them back to the player. Many times we don't even charge for the repair, we just consider it warranty work. You have the pedal back before you missed it too much. ;-) Surface mount doesn't mean crappy sound. If you chose the wrong ceramic caps in your design for the sake of profit, it will be obvious and have audio problems. The foot switches are still through-hole of course...so you replace it like any other switch. Is there a word for "the irrational fear of surface mount devices"? Smdhaphobia, Trypophobia maybe? The fear of small or micro sized things. #smdhaphobia
Is there any demo more confusing and indistinguishable than a compressor demo? Still don’t get the point-- and the benefit
Definitely more difficult to pick up on as a spectator online as the audio is already being compressed on your phone/laptop. There’s a myriad of characteristics that highly compressed tones have…and a lot of compression has to do with how it feels and reacts to your pick attack also. Just have to try it out in person at your local shop like we used to do in the oldin’ days.
Don't get hooked on comp. Very hard to get off your pedal board. Mine has been always on for 25 years. Try a wampler with blend control.
If you haven't ever used one I suggest trying it. Try a something that doesn't color it much and try a Ross style like a Keeley or a DynaComp. It makes a pretty big difference in person and a big difference with how the amp feels to play through.

"Here's my base tone." He means unaffected signal, or the sound of his guitar without the compressor.
