My first transfer to a transfer partner as a noob in credit card points/miles was speculative lol. I transferred 15k Bilt points to Virgin Atlantic during a 75% bonus (which resulted in 26k VA points xdd) BUT it luckily paid off since I used those points to book a flat seat business class flight from Madrid to Rome and an economy flight from Rome to NY 😮‍💨
EDIT: I just did the calc and in total it was around a 24cpp redemption, thats a prime example of beginner’s luck in the CC game 💀💀

AA is definitely far better than aeroplan, idk about twice but definitely close especially in terms of middle east premium cabin travel. Imo, amex points are for flights only and chase is for hotels (hyatt) only.

I have the OG Autograph, hoping Wells does some transfer bonuses.

I transferred some of my Chase points to Hyatt. I don’t have a specific use case but do plan on using them before my Globalist Status expires next year.

As long as I have a plan, I’ll do it. Gotta take the extra points as I can get them 👍🏼

What do you use the points for when speculatively transferring to vs or ba?

Can you do a tiered ranking of airline and hotel transfer partners in the future? Would be a fun video!

only points i buy is the Lifemiles when it offers 165%+ bonus... i think that one you can speculatively buy if you know what youre doing of course

Hotel points are often easier to buy speculatively for good value. Think IHG, Choice and Hilton.

With regards to the Chase/Hyatt opportunity cost, I think a consideration for substitutes needs to be made. Are Hyatts great, yes, do they provide outsized value, yeah but at the end of the day they are hotels and compete against depending on the city, dozens, hundreds, thousands of other hotels. Whereas airline competition for specific routes is usually far less competitive especially considering preferred times, routings, etc. I love me a Hyatt stay but have no problem transferring UR to an airline partner when it works. All the best.

I would have no problem transferring UR to airline programs. In practice though, I rarely do. Transfer bonuses from UR are less frequent then from MR. And World of Hyatt is the only consistently viable hotel program worth transferring to.

Other than Hyatt which Bilt transfer partner that hasn’t already had its rent day promo do you want to see next for the ridiculous 75-150% boost, and why? 💳

Most of them have not. From memory only IHG, Virgin, Flying Blue & Aeroplan have had significant boosts. No United, AA, Alaska. Life Miles or Hyatt yet.
