    It's remarkable how similar Kali and Silat are. Although, I've been told they have common heritage.

      even in language. most of the words are similar.
      ako. aku
      takot. takut

      sometimes just change O to U

    These multiple variations makes this a platform of which removes ones adversary quickly and effectively so you can defend against more than one attacker and be more effective in the realities of combat...

    I really love the fluidity of the demonstrators' movements and the application of their technique. There's a lot to explore and it is very inspiring for me as a Kali/FMA practitioner

    Kali adalah beladiri orang Melayu..
    Beladiri tempur para hulubalang Melayu..
    Yang awalnya orang-orang Melayu menyebutnya dengan sebutan kelai atau kelahi kemudian di kenali dengan sebutan kali..
    Sundang adalah senjata para hulubalang Melayu, Melayu sumatera, Melayu Riau, Melayu Kalimantan, Melayu Malaysia, Melayu Berunai, Melayu Philipina, Dan Melayu Thailand Selatan..

    I'm getting an Aikido vibe from this. Not good.

    • @persada5913
      @persada5913 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aikido doesn't break joints and doesn't do sweep; it doesn't block or parry; it doesn't have ground fighting and grappling like Silat. That's why Silat is the ultimate art form because it's much more holistic.

    Iam a modern Arnis practicioner in germany and thanks for some moves you shows here, brings me some new concepts of moving and new ideas what is to do...nice and really surprising. But...hmmm...with a Bolo against an unarmed attacker...thats not selfdefense...

    • @DeadBoysTwo
      @DeadBoysTwo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Martial arts were not originally "self defense" minded. They were developed with battlefields in mind. If you catch an opponent without their weapon then that's an opportunity to make sure they don't find another one and kill one of your fellow warriors, family member, friends, etc.
      Many in modern times don't discuss this nature in regards to political correctness, but edged weapons were never brought to a field of battle with the intention of making new friends of old enemies.

    Stick versus blade application are somewhat different. Obviously one is impact vs a slashing strike. I found the Villabrille Largusa style of kali the closest to the use of the blade. It’s not as eye appealing as other systems with the constant twirls but more so with direct strikes to finish the job in the shortest and most efficient manner.

    penso che sia affascinante tutto questo, e serve sempre una conoscenza in più nelle arti marziali, ma nella realtà nessun arte marziale funziona se non saper boxare e usare le gambe, alla velocità che di attacco sua, e del compagno si possono fare anche altre 1838738472837428748273923 coreografie scenografiche, nella realtà sei miracolato se ne esce una
