How to spot a red squirrel | Trees for Life

Nature educator Dan Puplett shows us how we can identify Scotland's native red squirrel. From its feeding habits to its mating call, squirrels leave clues that let us know they're here. Armed with this knowledge, and full use of your senses, take a walk into the woods and see what you can discover.
As part of our mission to rewild the Scottish Highlands, Trees for Life supports the conservation of the red squirrel. Since 2016, we have been creating new red squirrel populations, carefully capturing them from areas where they are already thriving, and moving them to new habitats in the north west Highlands.
