  • Trees for Life is proud to involve people in our rewilding work. Skills for Rewilding is our landmark three-year project to help 15 people from diverse backgrounds pursue a career in Scotland's conservation sector.
We encouraged applications from local young people, women wanting to work in traditionally male-dominated roles, and those looking for a career change. Many of the trainees are now working in the field, part of a growing rewilding movement and making it more inclusive.
This film focuses on the experiences of those who took part in the final year of the programme (2021-22).
Skills for Rewilding was made possible through funding provided by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Great to see you young ones take up an interest n this. Dundreggan needs a few wild hollowed out log beehives to give these young ones some company. I was born and bred in the highlands but now live in the Pacific Northwest and blessed to be living with an abundance of trees. I often use the Highlands as an example of why we need to protect our forests here. I find a lot of old honeybee nests in trees to study. Couldn’t do that in the Highlands. Maybe in 50 years that’ll. All be different with your efforts. Cheers.

What a fantastic experience and Qualification for young people interested in conservation and woodland management.Hopefully more young from the highlands can get into this type of career and be able to stay and work in the highlands of Scotland and increase the population and biodiversity.Goodluck
