    FYI: I mention in the video that there are no instructions, that's WRONG, there are instructions, really good written ones are included.
    Also, for those that have bought previously, you can login with the same email you used to purchase and you'll be able to get the latest version.
    One more thing, it looks like CURA now has per-material shrinkage compensation in the latest Beta version so I'll be sure to make a new update for that. (upgrades are free)
    Merry Calibration, and Happy Printing!

    Percentage compensation in cura is actually on a material basis. You can add it to material settings and put it for the material you are using. You just have to add it as an option.

    @Vector3D: Kind remark from an mechanical engineer: please don't advise calibrating machine settings on material base. Steps per mm should be calibrated with calipers, not with an actual print, because of the dependency of material flow, extrusion temperature and fan speed causing shrinking, with ABS shrinking in general... You get the point.
    I love your Califlower for material settings calibration though. Good job 👍 🙂

    • @Vector3DP
      @Vector3DP  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From the start it was always for shrinkage and skew. But some people can't integrate shrinkage well, so steps/mm is just for them really.

    The Overhang & Bridging stls were/are extremely helpful. :) The overhang test helped nicely to set SuperSlice’s angle for overhangs as well as to see where cooling lacks. The bridging was a nice simple test. Sometimes all the really fancy ones just over complicate things. These were two simple stls that worked just so nicely. It will be disappointing to no longer have them included in our package updates. Sure they may lack the extra docs, but sometimes a simple stl is nice to have. :)

    I know this is a completely different type of programming and probably not even possible.. but is there anyway to write an app that can take these measurements from a picture? With like, a quarter also in the picture?
    Considering the amount of recalibration that 3D printers generally need, even an app with ads should generate enough revenue to approach an app programmer.

    • @Vector3DP
      @Vector3DP  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think we're a long way from a camera being good enough to capture the resolution needed for this level of calibration.

    • @smittery
      @smittery 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, these size measurements would be VERY difficult to catch on a standard camera, what with perspective and lens distortions and everything else.
      HOWEVER, your idea isn't far off for structured blue light scanning (revopoint pop mini) or lidar (Bambu X1), and the califlower+included methodology may be a good baseline for making the tuning tooling that pair with those emerging technologies to dial-in the crap out of future printers.

    CaliCoaster?

  • @paulmenzel2884
    @paulmenzel2884 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I found this interesting enough I had to reverse engineer it myself. couple things: a) Skew the Marlin AD distance, 100*2^-0.5, doesn't that need to be scaled? That is the perfect value and the AC and BD are in a scaled space. b) if the Avg X Error and Avg Y Error are different wouldn't that indicate one of the axis has its Step/mm off. I'd expect them to be the same if only material shrinkage was at play. c) seems to me flow compensation could be calculated. Scale the measurements by the Shrinkage / Step/mm Then calculate the Inner/Outer Error off the new values. d) If you know Skew setting for a set of measurements. The new value is just the sum of the measured angle and the prints skew setting angle.

I see it that it's worth way more than the money charged because it saves me time and I'm getting a huge bargain on all the time and effort and skills this man has put into this project. If you were truly a cheapskate, you could create this yourself easily and negate having to pay. I haven't seen any other calibration that tells me this much information which is also laid out so straight forward and simply. I was literally in the process of setting up my own inner and outer measurements thingy when I stumbled on this man's project. So, so, so worth it. Again, I mean no disrespect brother!
