  • I got a used Tracker topper 1542 with Yacht club trailer last year and did some basic mods over the winter. Just came back from the lake and wanted to share and get more ideas of other mods. I've had the boat out several times already and even some night fishing. So far everything is working well.

    I'm downsizing next year and the 1542 size is just what I want. I will set it up for bass fishing witg a deck and full carpet and bow mount trolling motor. Selling my 17' glass bassboat as we speak to get it done. Downsized my tow rig as well to a small truck and my F250 is already gone. Going to be mostly just me after this year as my youngest is going to the Navy after graduation this year. Saving myself a lot of gas money and I just like to fish. Lighter and easier to handle alone as well as Ive had multiple surgeries from a work related accident. Luckiky my job has a 20yr retirement plan so semi retired at 51 this year. Love my bigger glass boat but its time to go back to simple. The fish don't care. Still contemplating which outboard at the moment. Rated to 25hp and I learned years ago the rated size is the right size. But I may go smaller if I fibd a perfect older two stroke as keeping total weight down is a big priority for taking a passenger. Finding the rught balance of power and weight it should perform just fine. 22-24mph light load is fine with me as my local lakes are all under 3 miles long and waves never barely whitecap on the worst days. I really want to downsize for getting into some weedy shallows I could never get into with the bigger boat..Not to mention sone river fishing. Even considering a small jet drive engine as well. Have fun with your boat. Can't beat the new price of one of these.. I will have plenty of cash left over on top of it..win in my book...Ive missed my little tin boats too.

    looks clean bro, can I ask if the thinner aluminum has held up good? I'm looking at a grizzly 1448 with the 0.100 hull a little thicker aluminum but they are a little more pricey.

    Hi Jason. Great video and nice job. I was considering purchasing a SeaEagle Stealth Stocker. I saw your review/video on that boat as well. Is this Jon boat a replacement for the SeaEagle or an addition to your stable? Just curious if you had just got tired of the Sea Eagle. Thanks in advance for the response.

    Where did you buy your carpet. It looks like what I have in my boat when I bought it and looking to change out some in mine and can’t find any that matches.

    • @jasonw2291
      @jasonw2291  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is outdoor carpet rolls from Lowe's. It's okay for boats. My only complaint with it, is that it tends to hold fishing hooks awfully tight. Annoying at times, but the carpet really cools off the boat and is great for camping too. Feels great on bare feet as well.

      The bottoms and sides are held in by the floor and seat panels. the top was tricky. i epoxied velcro pieces(hook side) to the boat structure and the carpet acts as the loop side. Holds perfectly.

    How'd you get the swivel seat base fastened into the aluminum bench seat? I want to put some on mine but I've been skeptical because there's no way to fasten a nut onto the other end of the screw because you obviously cant get under the bench seat, you'd essentially have to hope that the grooves on the screw bit into the thin aluminum enough to hold a 200+ pound person and not strip the screw. I hope your understanding what I mean

    • @jasonw2291

    What's holding the sidewalls to the boat if they aren't glued or screwed?

    • @jasonw2291
      @jasonw2291  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sidewalls are held in place by pressure from the top rail and the bottom. The sidewall is the first piece to be installed and then the bench pieces go in next and finally the floor. It all stays in really nice.

      David Fischer with all that weight from wood floors and stuff I bet it won’t brake 18 mph and 12 with passengers... the buoyancy of these boats were never intended with heavy interiors and once they are weighed down they plow the water and being a true flat bottom and not a mod v boat they def plow

      Bruce Lyons
      Total weight with engine, fuel, batteries, interior etc.. is right at 300lbs. I weigh 200lbs so 500lbs total when I'm out by myself. sits in the water just a few inches. Max loading is 775lbs according to the placard. I think that weight restriction seems conservative, but that is strictly my opinion.
