A quick correction: In the video, I mentioned how independently exploring the world was a normal part of life for "everyone." I can see how this can be interpreted as literally roaming the world which requires a lot of money. While the literal interpretation is valid, I also mean on a smaller scale. Exploring things within their immediate area such as different school clubs during adolescence or hanging out with different crowds of people. These smaller things count as exploring the immediate world around you.
Champion Analysis keep in mind she was also dressed as protective over V in Devil May Cry 5.. despite stating she is not his mommy when he's looking for comfort or confirmation.. she immediately saved him from Falling. I know people are complaining that trish is struggling to lift up V but not many people understand that she was drained of her power for over a month therefore she would have trouble lifting up a human.. now just imagine how drained that Lady/Mary is after being used as a battery for over a month. speaking of V.. it's amazing how powerful human half of Virgil is.. the fact that he's able to take On A Demon Powered By Trish is A Bit Impressive... of course he was a bit drained after the fight.. but it is stated that he gets weaker every day.
I wouldn't just say comfortable, Dante pointedly gives her Sparda at the end of DMC1. You get the feeling that yeah its Dante being practical in that Trish needs a weapon and he definitely doesn't feel that he needs to rely on his father's power, but its also sort of a pointed bit of symbolism I think. Dante definitely thinks that his father should have been there to protect his mother. I doubt this is a thing he thought of at the moment, but it is there and might have been in his subconscious.
I think one of her best moments was when V opened up to her and she just went “I’m not your mommy.” How many times must she have said this to Dante? How many times has she questioned if Dante actually cared about her, or just wanted her around because it was the closest thing he’d get to Eva?
I didnt even think about that. It makes sense that V only really opens up to the spitting image of his mother. It might be speculation that she's said the same to Dante but it's not unlikely. Gives that scene way more meaning wow
Champion Analysis I know right! Makes me wish our girls had gotten a bigger role. By the way, I love rpgs, story, Jung and stuff, but have not played a JRPG. Would you recommend playing Persona 5 nonetheless?
@@hopebringer2348 im hella biased but I think Persona 5 is a good rpg. P5 has a pretty iconic style that helps to keep the turn based action feeling fresh. I think it also gives the player more combat strategy options than the previous persona games but it still is a game of exploiting the weakness, like pokemon. So it may get repetitive to some people. I know it did with me after awhile, but I personally find the story to be pretty compelling. Like the overall concept is a fun one to explore and it got me thinking what I would do with that kind of ability. Persona 5 is not afraid to dive into really fcked up adult issues and having the power to actually do something when otherwise you'd be pretty helpless is fun. I think it's worth a shot. It has its issues but it was a fun ride.
@@hopebringer2348 As a fan currently playing the game, I can assure you it's a unique experience. Defs worth a try. I would like to get my hands on the Royal edition when it comes.
Another reason why we need a DMC sitcom, I would love to just watch all of these characters interact (with just a lil bit of demon slaying on the side).
anyone else think that they should remake DMC1 It would be a good way to exlore things hinted at with Dante, Trish, the town's people, use elements of the novel Fleshout Mundus, Nelo Angelo abit more. Maybe bring in Enzo from the Manga of DMC3 and the Manuel of DMC1....(is also in Beyonetta) also flesh out Eva as well (as her voice is heard in Dante's mind twice. first when he defeats Nelo Angelo "Virgil, Dante happy birthday"..... and again encouraging Dante before Trish comes into give him a power boost "Dante, its going to be okay....You can do it"....) as hammy as most of DMC1 is (that is too say nothing of how spooky the island can be...hearing Eva's encouragement was very sweet)
A remake of DMC 1 would be beautiful for the setting too. Going back to that horror themed castle aesthetic with the current gameplay engine would be amazing
Yes I would love it and if that happens Hideki Kamiya the OG director must come back and remake this, fun fact he even show huge interest in remaking this.
The reason for Trish leaving is in the Audio Drama. She left to travel the world because Enzo was taken over by a Devil arm and after losing his hand she came to the conclusion that she couldn't let these weapons run rampant. Trish's personality is shown more clearly in Viewtiful Joe, as well as her dynamic with Dante. She also played a big role in bringing Mundus back. I absolutely agree with this video though; Trish has so much unused story potential and its painful to see her so shafted, especially with her unique relationship with Dante.
Trish enriches the dmc lore so much by just being who she is She deserves an entire series 'visions of v' like imo great vid bro, but you have a pizza problem we should address in its own analysis video
Champ: "Devil May Cry has some of the strongest men in gaming, but it also has some of the most badass women you'll ever find." Me: "Oh, and Nico to I guess..."
I feel like Dante losing the only family he had in Vergil allowed trish to step into a sister role. She’s like his big sister over protective, fun, and caring.
You know, when you think about it, Trish is actually much closer to being an actual successor to Sparda's legacy than any other character in the series. Now hear me out before talking about how Dante, Vergil, and Nero would all obliterate Trish in a fight because I'm not talking about strength. Trish, despite looking like Eva, has a lot in common with the Legendary Dark Knight himself. Aside from base line stuff like how she's known for using his weapons, she actually kind of had the exact same character arc as Sparda. An extremely powerful demon, once loyal to the demon king during a war in which Mundus sought to conquer the world, until they developed a "human heart" so to speak, gaining the ability to care for others like a human can, and after gaining this new sensation, they rebelled against their own kind, and sealed Mundus away (I know it was actually Dante that sealed Mundus in DMC1, but it was with a good deal of help from Trish so I count that as a W for her too)
Imagine how fucking mad Mundus is because he got betrayed again, like if this where to repeat whith Date's son or Maybe Nero's kid, I sure hope Mundus stops giving free will to he's subordinates
Trish will never get anything since her original creators left the company. She doesn't even have a Devil Trigger which was something the original team intended for her to have instead of Sunglasses + Yellow Fart smoke we got in DMC2 and DMC4.
It's an interesting anecdote about her creation for the original game, except if by "original creators" you also meant like kamiya... in which case your logic holds up a bit less, I honestly doubt there's no room for expanding on her background, after all while some creators retroactively downgrade the work they've done in the past some others can upgrade the creations "left behind", though it does make me wonder what were the ideas originally planned for her D.T, maybe could get a similar case than we had with nero.... damn so much potential with the special édition of 5.
I always thought of Trish's abrupt change in personality after the first game to be due to the developers not being sure on what to do with her or just changing their mind about how the character should be, as a retconning of sorts. But I like your take on this, as it makes it seem way more organic, her changing after this long time trying to discover herself. I had never thought of this. Nice video!
If Trish ever gets more attention in the future, I'd LOVE to see her demonic true form. I understand that she has a "Devil Trigger", but it's only a golden glow. Come on, show me a badass devil lady with a golden mane crackling with electricity.
She’s a manufactured weapon. Like Nightmare. She isn’t a true born demon, so she doesn’t have a “trigger” or a Devil form in canon because she just is. Her form we see her in isn’t her “human” form, it’s just her form.
I'd like to add a couple of somethings about Trish between DMC 1 and 2. 1) In the DMC 2 Novel, Enzo and Dante discuss Trish leaving. ' "By the way, whatever happened to that beauty? You had a really pretty chick, didn't you?" Dante raised an eyebrow but showed no further signs of life. Enzo lit up inside. This was the tack to take. "What was her name again? You know, the girl? Where did she go?" "Who knows?" Dante said flatly. ' Dante's response is evidence that he still saw Trish in the superficial way as his mother, rejecting any sexual description from Enzo. Enzo (like in Bayonetta) pushes Dante's buttons about it, but he acts similarly to as he did in DMC 2 being dejected but subconsciously conflicted about her. As you say in your video. 2) In the novel, Dante goes to a parallel world where Sparda was sold-out by humans and killed by Mundus then Shadow, Griffon, Phantom, Nightmare and a new demon called Blade made a pact to protect Eva and the twins. However, this Dante was taken and brainwashed ala Nelo Angelo and Vergil took that name and became the leader of a demon rebellion against Mundus but dies before the beginning of the novel. Shortly after his finds this out, they are attacked by a literal tsunami of Trishs. ' The women hefted mystical blades, which tore open their opponents when an ordinary weapon would have left a scratch. The golden warriors seemed to have no fear of death, refusing to break ranks no matter the skill of their opponents. The attackers moved in unison like a single organism. ' In this reality, Trish was never saved by Dante and given the spark needed to become more human. As a result, they become alike any lesser demons ' Dante didn't answer. His face betrayed no sign of the conflict inside. The sight of Trish lying in repose struck an unexpected chord within him. Memories of his slain mother came forth unbidden, triggered by her uncanny likeness to the enemy that Dante had dispatched moments before. Dante didn't like being the killer any more than he liked being the bystander. ' The Leader Trish and Dante fight with him recounting their first match with Dante being victorious but his trauma of losing his mother rises and makes him deeply conflicted. Whilst the novel is dubiously canon, I just thought these bits were good as supporting evidence for your argument.
I believe one of the fundamental reason why Dante embraced and choose his human side is because he genuinely felt and understood the compassion, love and sacrifice one human gives to another without expexting anything in return. He might have learned it from her mom the very last time she hid him in a closet and told him to be a good boy, something must have been clicked inside him at that time. It could even be the deciding factor that he choose to protect humankind because humans are so frail and fragile yet willing to sacrifice themselves for the ones they care about (which Vergil didnt have a chance to experience and feel wholeheartedly). If even Vergil were in Dante's place, I think he also would have done the same, obtain absolute power but the sole purpose is to get revenge and he wont feel any inferiority to his brother over their mother's love. And of course, he would also find Dante as soon as the demons fled from their home, because he'll remember that to keep their brothers safe was the last thing their mom wanted to do right before her demise.
I really wish we got more on Trish. How she struggles with being what she is and owning it. Show, don't tell. DMC did that for Lady and it was fantastic. Speaking in terms of female psychology, I think she would be very interested in Eva. After all, she is the woman Trish was modeled after. In a way, she's Trish's psychological mother. There were expectations of her around Eva's figure. There will always be. As daughters, it's something we deal with all our life. How we come to terms with the figure of our mothers defines our relationships. Trish had to go through this process too. As a psychologist who works a lot with art, I find it fascinating, honestly. Anyway, as always a fantastic video. You brought up some very important points about her journey. Traveling, being on her own, Dante's difficulties with dealing with her presence. Well done. Loved it.
I doubt Trish had trouble accepting what she is. Humanity isn't something you're born with from being human, you develop it. She's full Demon but has more humanity than most humans. She's compassionate and loving
@@jpf7942 But isn't self doubt one of the many very human things we all go through? I think you are absolutely right in that humanity is something we build. That's why I would have loved to see a little of her journey as an individual. I loved when she told V, "I'm not your mommy" (or something similar), because it shows that she knows and loves herself, and that she knows her place in the world. She's such a cool character.
Wow I completely forgot to plug the new instagram I made specifically for the channel. Give it a follow if you wanna keep up with this pizza eating goon @ championanalysisyt
Can you do a video on Lucia. She is my favorite DMC female. I feel like she and after your video Trish have the best personality. Now people might disagree and say Lady has the best personality but they're reasons why I dont like her. 1. In DMC3 her whole goals were to kill her father and hunt down every last demon! Right? 2. So why in the fuck did she try to kill Dante twice on occasion before even confirming that he was a demon. She literally shot a bazooka at this man and then second time shot him because he saved her...jesus christ. And then after shooting him in the head. Then she says, "....So hes a demon too." Me: What!??? What if he wasnt, and you just tried to kill an innocent man twice! Jesus this bitch. Now is she hot, yes. Can she do cool things yes. But is she a good character "meh." Lucia on the other hand is a demon, who thought she was human who came from a clan of people; who somehow has devils blood within them. The clans purpose protected humanity. But then on a mission to stop the world from ending. She figured out that she was created by the very man she swore to stop. This caused her to falter in emotiom but she still took on the man that created her. Loosing the battle. Once she lost she begged for her to be killed by him. (I'll reveal later). Before getting saved by Dante. Her mother confirms that it is true, she is a demon created by the human Sorcerer Arius. Later Arius is defeated by Dante and this provides her the chance to ask Dante to kill her. As she is afraid that as a demon she will eventually become evil and turn on humans and kill them. (This explains her acts earlier). She cries at this moment this provides Dante with the line that Devils dont Cry. And the ones who do have accuried a human soul (and a power boost). Dante leaves and Arius comes back with a power boost. In this moment she overcomes her fear and depression. Now fighting with confidence. Enough to finally beat and kill Arius. I feel like she is a great character as she actually had development in the right areas...-Cough cough- LaDy!!!
He really tried not to cross the line until now, did he? Unlike most series these days that "kinda" embrace it, but hey to each of his own. Kudos to Dante.
@@lucaswibisono1316 That's one of the reasons I like Dante, also DMCV light novel Lucia is highly hinted that she's in love with Dante, but Dante kinda hints he doesn't want another sparda bloodline to be born.
@@BellowDGaming Quite funny, the "good" brother attracts 2 demons, but doesn't want kids and the one that forsakes his humanity attracts a human woman and they have a kid. They really are polar opposites in every way.
Thank you. Trish has been the most under utilized character in this franchise for so damn long for all the reasons you've stated and I've wanted more of Trish's development since the series started. Capcom is no stranger to female characters so why they shy away from her so much has boggled me for years.
It seems hat capcom has been changing the cast/supporting characters throughout the years. especially the resident evil franchise which is no different from swapping Chris, Leon/ Claire, Jill valentine, and Ethan
It's weird, because in the 1st game as well as any other lore reference, she was "Made to *resemble* Dante's mother" , NOT quite an *exact copied image* of her, but just made in a strikingly similar resemblance to disorient Dante & manipulate him. *BUT* the Devs of the 5th installment *(DMC 5)* I guess after DECADES since her 1st consciously created inception, *it seems different ppl viewed/interpreted her conception differently,* thus making her visibly & literally in lore to be an *"Exact"* replica of his mother .....when again, *she originally* was stated by text & design to be *"Resemble"* Eva, NOT be an actual wrinkle for wrinkle identical copy. Plus if I remember correctly she was originally supposed ot have an even larger role through out the series, but since a completely different team did *"DMC 2"*.....any follow up game in the series had to do "dmg control" to fix the series, which eneded having Dante as pre much having the Largest role...but we did get Vergil out of it!! ---which he was still eventually going to be anyways...along with Lady
@@abdoul5176 Yeah like DMC 5 was designed as per DMC 3 standard and yet it kinda feels like DMC 3 has more in depth story...Despite that, DMC 5 was a super nice game...especially when considering the fact that DMC 5 got DMC out of that niche and more widespread worldwide... A good idea would be a game prequel style where you can play as Sparda
Trish has always been my second favorite character in this series(Vergil an obvious first) I always wanted her to get a spin-off game. Imagine a game where trish is the main character!
They REALLY need to make a DMC game focused on the girls, not constantly relying them as sidekicks and only playable characters in SE and stuff... I would LOVE to have a game focused on Trish and Lady.
Thank you very much for the video. Your analysis is exactly my thoughts on Trish and she has always remained my fav female character in DMC since 1. I personally find the act of her saving Dante in 1 was quite...innocent. Like she probably had never saved someone before and the only way she knew how to do that was by imitating the last time how a human (or half-demon) saved her - by jumping in front of the danger and pushing that person out of that way, but then this time it caused her life though.
So you gonna do an episode on Lucia? because that is tall order, Im sure you're up for the challenge. She really doesnt have much in the games, but I think shes in DMC5 prequel novel (Capcom should really bring her back into the fold, her and her mom/grandma...what ever she was) keep up the dope work my man
I think Dante may view Trish as a younger sister cause as we all know Dante is all about family. He fights his Brother (DMC 1,3 & 5) Antagonizes picks fights and insults his nephew (DMC4&5) so yea He must see her that of a bratty kid sister he fights em cause he cares xD
I largely agree though I honestly feel it is great that the characters developed off screen to an extent. While it makes it so we as players never really have a read on their progression it would be weird that all their character progression was all dependant on Dante. As in order for us to see it Dante would have to be involved. Without Dante involved though it makes their development their own rather than through the support of another.
I’m glad you made a video about Trish. The last 3 videos about Sparda’s sons and grandson are very enjoyable to watch. Also, you made Trish sound a whole lot interesting. Thanks 🙏
Well. This is a pleasant surprise. I'll be back with an edit for this comment once I'm done watching it. EDIT: Glad to see someone seeing untapped potential in Trish's story. I actually did read a fancomic (a lengthy one at that) that, at some point, did have Trish explain how she began exploring the kind of person she'd want to be while still working with Dante, such as being his closest confidant or even a mother figure (which she frankly hated), before going off on her own and doing exactly what you just described. I know, it's only a fan-comic (and thus not official), but I also do believe that it's the most logical course of action Trish could have taken at that moment. Also, that untapped potential is part of why I was a little miffed at her and Lady being severely underused in DMC5. Overall, great video, man. Hope to see videos of the other DMC ladies soon.
@@btarik.maulana4199 An incredibly long one simply titled "Vergil", created by karaii over at DeviantArt. However, the comic is now considered dead at the author's admission with the release of Devil May Cry 5.
Was beginning to worry you wouldn't get to the other characters. And this makes me wonder what a spin-off title revolving around Trish as she left the Devil May Cry agency to find herself would be like. And what she'd encounter. Demons that took inspiration from Sparda. Or decided to say **** it to the demon world and look for a purpose in the human world. Humans that make demons seem sweet and innocent. (So to speak.) A variety of things. How she would react to meeting Lucia. If Capcom is reading this. They should get on it. It would make for a pretty interesting game. Another good video. Keep up the good work!
An interesting video, to be sure. And one that I thoroughly enjoy. I remember that you wanted to branch out more on your analysis, and I understand that you are primarily a gaming channel tailoring initially to an audience that enjoys League of Legends more often than other games. But there is something that has been kind of a recent development for me that could essentially be a good topic for a video. What the mantel of responsibility does to a character. Some people can take this responsibility with care and efficiency, but there are times in which that responsibility goes to one’s head in many ways. And I think delving into the Mass Effect series can help better understand what responsibility can do to a person, for better or worse. Just something to think about, Nimbus
7:40 you said EVERYTHING there needed to be said! As much as it can be eye rolling material to see another woman being sexualized or used as decoration, it's also refreshing to see a woman actually be a main character and do bad ass shit - and it can genuinely be empowering. One issue I have is the huge backseat that Trish and Lady take in DMC5. They damn near became damsels in distress and no character depth or background is fleshed out at all, except for maybe when Trish said "I'm not your moms, dawg"
Honestly love the personality analysis of your dmc5 characters. So much to characters people dont realise and these video jist point the things ive noticed or even missed and I love thinking about the characters at this kinda angle
My relationship with this character it's pretty wacky, I frist was trish in Marvel versus Capcom 3(and was having a hard time beating her online)and when I found out she was from the game has this dante guy and Vergil I thought "huh that's pretty neat." A couple months later I saw Devil May Cry 1 at Gamestop and bought it immediately and I fell in love with the game and Trish's character very quickly. As time went by I was a little heartbroken when I realize that Trish doesn't really do anything in any of the other games like that but once I got the special edition of Devil May Cry 4 I got over it (she was playable) anyway I really appreciate this video because I don't think the community gives her the spotlight she deserve ( at least in my opinion) as for her relationship with Dante I definitely think it's something that needs/ could be developed more whether it's platonic or romantic seeing the events of the first game and all.
I can't stop thinking of the significance of how Dante left sparda and what is essentially Eva as the amulet (whatever happened to that anyway?) and then trish is revived miraculously to help dante, while then afterwards wielding sparda and Luce and Ombra. I'm getting the strong idea, what with kamiya saying that the amulet contains the soul of eva, and the sword of sparda containing his will, that maybe she was revived by that demonic power, that maybe she absorbed the amulet and carried some of the soul of Eva, fully being introduced to a humanity the same way sparda was, by containing Eva's soul. Which explains why she feels an appropriate attraction to the sparda and his guns, since that connection is so strong and real (remember how Nico theorized how demons form and change themselves out of feelings or wants? Yeah I think that might have something to do with it.) I think this also might have happened because I remember in the little mermaid, the original one, the mermaid would become human when the prince fell in love with her and kissed her, flowing his soul into her, which makes me think exactly of the situation between sparda and eva, and the themes of the whole story of dmc itself. Plus, mermaid rock dude. Not to take away from the ideas in the video, just adding some background to it. Plus, hey...in a way I could imagine that's how trish got a little mommy and daddy too, in a way. Cause yeah, trish is totally a big sis to dante now.
as long as it not blood relate everything is fine but The Image of your mother you need to overcome instead with Common Sense Logic. Mundus Said he can create so many trish as he want like a Cloning to dante in DMC1.
Honestly Trish is one of the most interesting things about DMC for me. She's so mysterious. I have a hunch that itsuno doesn't care much for Trish because he is always so quick to get rid of her. She only seems to get side treatment (DMC2 shes written out of the story and is added as an unlockable playable character that is just rigged to Dante's earlier animations. DMC4SE she seems rather undone and again shares many things w/Dante instead of being wholly unique kinda like her MvC3 interaction. DMC5 well she was obviously just there as exposition) She's a lightning demon, so i always wondered what lightning demon Mundus based her off of, Griffin? Blitz? A homunculus of both? What do her insides look like? Are they human looking too? Is the Eva appearance her true form or does she have a more conventionally demonic "true" form? I really would like to see some interactions with Trish and Dante that explore Dante's thoughts and feelings on how he feels whenever he is face to face with Trish. How he feels about her having his mother's face and voice? Seriously, i know people who have developed a mother complex for less, but this man Dante practically has his mommy strutting her tight-leather clad butt around his shop like its nothing. Hell i got goosebumps from just hearing The Boss's voice come from an AI in MGS Peace Walker. How does Dante not full-on breakdown emotionally from the sight and voice of his long loss mother after so many years? Especially w/her kindness being such a huge impact on how he turned out as a man
Dante never considered her as a mother figure... Like, very not. It's easy to distinguish how he interact with Nell and how he interact with Trish (Nell was a mommy figure). Dante explicitly said that she may have the face of Eva, she would never have her soul. And so it's at this moment that he saw her as someone else. She's not considered as a sister either since their relationship is more complex than that and their complicity is iconic. They lived together for a while and they care deep down for each other. I would like to know more about Trish psychological parkour
Totally agree with you, no mother, no sister. Dante would never see her like that. But there’s a theme song in DMC 1 called Dante and Trish seeds of Love. Does it ring any bells? I wonder if Kamiya ever intended something deeper with them. In fact he once said their relationship goes far beyond love. But people freak out so much about it, don’t know why haha!
@@jennyyachains1755 you're totally right. Kamiya intended more for them, but what he loved was the ambiguity between them. Even after him, they kept their relationship mysterious. Never stated publicly they're together, nor that they're only friends (unlike with Lady). I believe that they're in somewhat Queerplatonic relationship. Since they both value freedom, they're very unlikely to settle down in a traditional way. They're loyal to each other, have each other's back and even among their surroundings, there's this assumption that they have something between them too. Even if they don't work together as often, they're known for being each other's partners (for work, but this work is literally a big part of their life and as the lone wolfs they are, that's something to call someone your partner) and their duo is also known as being dangerous (read it somewhere in the books). We see them both in official art works, being intimate or having some quality time and even in the pachinko games we see them together as if they're truly complete when reunited.
@@jennyyachains1755 Really glad to see other fans who understand this perspective of their relationship ahah. What's a MUST to question what they actually are is to get rid of our own judgments and how we see Trish compared to Eva
I always thought trish would be an interesting character to explore. A being created to be a pawn, even her appearance is based off someone else. Like how would someone grapple with that and find their own identity
There's another reason why she left, she's a demon and it would make sense deep within, she's fragmented and desires are many so it's not like she was trying to break away from Dante to learn but that she also can't contain the evil and sinister feelings which being a full demon means there's no way to contain her natural tendencies and behaviors like many humans especially if it gets nighttime then being tired would stimulate them but Dante has two sides and he has evil tendencies and behaviors within like her but unlike Trish, him being a hybrid has him unable to keep his darker self from appearing and taking over, his eating habits may also be because of his demon side as he appears animalistic in his Sin Devil Trigger and acts like a wild animal but he was always human from the start of his life so his demon side doesn't affect him that much and he stays human and clear of anything that would be evil in 5, he's able to fight his brother and demons to release his Inner Devil and let out any anger or sinister feelings.
"Wandering the world by yourself and finding yourself while at it is the process everyone goes through." Everyone *with ridiculous amounts of cash*. Not just "everyone"
lol yeah on a larger scale like literally going from country to country requires money, but looking for new experiences nearby at like different school clubs or trying to hang out with various people also count as exploring the immediate world around them
it would probably be better if the relationship between Trish and Dante becomes a sibling relationship. Like Dante adopts Trish as a sister into the Sparta family. this way it won't be weird, and it would make sense
Angelo Ortiz right.....it would be weird on Dante’s behalf. To be in a relationship with Trish because she is his mother’s clone. I always felt like Dante looks at her like a sister.
I don't think its weird now. She's his friend and probably one of his best outside of Lady, that's why she gives him crap over the just pizza stuff and why her and Lady had the moment of strife between them. They're both used to being Dante's work friend, but they'd never been friends themselves. It was only when Dante started pulling all of his allies together did we get a bunch of people that had only ever met Dante realizing that there were more people like themselves out in the world.
In the original story (later games), Yeah. But they did dating (only stated) when those two became cameos in Viewtiful Joe. DMC1 already put them into lovers (judging by the finale theme song "Seeds of Love - Trish & Dante), and they became battle couples in Viewtiful Joe.
Great video. of all the content you have made on the Devil May Cry characters this has to be one of my favorites. It really makes me want to learn some psychology to do something similar. I would love to see a game that focuses on that point in Trish's life as well, between DMC 1 and the anime, to show some character development. If not a game then maybe a comic which focuses on Trish working several cases with Dante and showing her grow and develop into the person me see by the time of the anime. I'm actually hoping to cover something similar to this in a video I have planned for her. Anyway, great video, I hope you make more like these in the future and I look forward to what you have planned.
This right here is a perfect excuse for capcom to make some story dlc for DMC5. Not only would it make them more money, but it would actually make the fans happy as well. Granted it might be really difficult with the photo-realistic graphics of the game, but it would be worth it.
Love this analysis and would love for the developers to explore more of Trish in future Devil May Cry works. Is there any clue on what her "true" form as a demon is, or is this doppelganger of Dante's mom it?
C'mon now man!!! Dmc wasn't that bad and honestly I thought it was pretty good. And yes I've been a fan of the series from the beginning. Now granted it didn't quite have the flair like the original series did, but it was an interesting little alternate universe story. If anything was a dumpster 🔥 it was dmc 2. Anyway, despite all that, really like that video. I like seeing these deep dive analysis of fictional characters.
What people get fundamentally wrong about Trish is if she's an actual clone of Eva created to look exactly like her. She doesn't look like her feature for feature, she just has the more dominant characteristics of Eva, enough to put Dante off his game. Like imagine a demon looking exactly like his mother look for look. Even Dante who knew his mother was dead would find that sus as fuck and wouldn't trust her
Her character will continue unexplored nor developed because Capcom are not good at story telling and they obviously don't care about her. They make her out to be eye candy (not so much in 5 in my opinion). I wish they would make a DMC side story with starring Trish along with Lady, and maybe Lucia, but people will complain and call it feminist agenda crapfest. And surely Capcom would try to make it whimsical, sexy, and cringe af, not hardcore, and badass. If they handed it over to Platinum Games it be Badass.
*In my opinion Trish acts somewhat like a pseudo big sister for Dante along with being a teasing quote-on-quote childhood friend. If that makes sense or not let me know in the responses below please. Again, just MY opinion, you all got your own.*
One thing I found very interesting about Trish's story in DMC 1 is that, symbolically, she is a stand-in for Jesus. Firstly, both Trish and Jesus were conceived without sex; Jesus was created by God and the Virgin Mary, and Trish was created by Mundus. Secondly, when Danté finally confronts Mundus, Trish is seen in a Christ-like position. Third, Trish is killed by Mundus which parallels Jesus being forsaken by God. Forth, Trish sacrificing herself for Danté mirrors Jesus dying for humanities sins. Fifth, both Jesus and Trish are reborn. This is something I feel the DMC community has overlooked, with most of the symbolism of the first game being tied to the Divine Comedy.
I never noticed that :o I think that's a very interesting influence. Maybe they could've continued that symbolism with the sequels. Like maybe having Trish sacrifice something or even herself completely to give the others the advantage they needed for Urizen. Could've been a cool way of bringing the symbolism full circle.
And on top of that, despite Danté being Sparda's son who he's compared to, Trish is actually a better stand - in; both Sparda and Trish served Mundus before defecting, and Trish wields Sparda's sword and his guns Lucé and Ombra.
Another thing I found pretty interesting is Trish's line in DMC 5. After, Danté frees Trish from Cavaliere and the whole crew are reunited, when Danté, Trish and V are discussing the Quilpoth, Trish says, "Even the almighty Mundus used it to become king of the Underworld." To me, this line was very striking, Trish describing Mundus as "almighty" implies she still has a level of respect and admiration for him. I do wish that their relationship had further development as it's really hard to ascertain how Trish feels about her creator. He is technically her father.
Yeah defo a dynamic worth exploring between Dante and Trish, devs/scriptwriters missed a trick there, Dante cares a bit about her but it would be cool if Vergil had a little interaction with her 😅 As an aside, I hate how Lady is portrayed in DMC5, she has no edge at all, way more of a badass in 3 but now she's just there for a bit of eye candy and cheap laughs, as a fan I feel insulted
Since Dante absorbed the decil sword Sparda, What will Trish use as a weapon for the future games? Look, I know it's a minor subject but still, her future weapon could reflect on what her character will be in the future. So what weapon would that be?
Nico should make her something. I immediately think of like a lightsaber type thing. A device that can let her put her lightning powers through and form w.e melle weapon she desires. That'd make for some creative gameplay if they ever make a game for her
A quick correction: In the video, I mentioned how independently exploring the world was a normal part of life for "everyone." I can see how this can be interpreted as literally roaming the world which requires a lot of money.
Trish is Sparda in his wive body. But Capcom think, anybody not prepared for this. @@elpopman2055
Dante is comfortable enough to let her use Devil Sword Sparda and his father's guns
I always felt that Dante and Trish had a brother sister relationship.
When did he give Trish, Spardas guns?
He gave her the amulet too. Although if she gave it back to Dante we don’t know.
@@jwyuen I doubt he gave her the amulet since it was something he got from his mother and we all know how much of a mama's boy Dante is.
Champion Analysis I’ll give it a shot! Thank you so much, brother!

As a fan currently playing the game, I can assure you it's a unique experience. Defs worth a try. I would like to get my hands on the Royal edition when it comes.
Another reason why we need a DMC sitcom, I would love to just watch all of these characters interact (with just a lil bit of demon slaying on the side).
I would love to watch that.
This would be so good
IZINA1997 The anime’s SORTA like that. But a full on sitcom surrounding the employees of DMC would be fantastic.
We need another anime
@@HELLO_KORO weren't the guys behind castlevania making another one
anyone else think that they should remake DMC1
It would be a good way to exlore things hinted at with Dante, Trish, the town's people, use elements of the novel Fleshout Mundus, Nelo Angelo abit more.
Yeah i guess but i feel like dmc 2 is more in need of a remake
Remakes for 1-3 would be amazing in the RE engine they could even fix DMC 2
A remake of DMC 1 would be beautiful for the setting too. Going back to that horror themed castle aesthetic with the current gameplay engine would be amazing
@@zebo8000 oh for sure, but I couldnt think of anything to add so I didnt say anything
Trish enriches the dmc lore so much by just being who she is
She deserves an entire series 'visions of v' like imo
great vid bro, but you have a pizza problem we should address in its own analysis video
For real I would so follow a dlc or manga dedicated to Trish while eating pizza for breakfast
I think she will involve heavily on Vision of V since V(ergil) told her anything in the end.

Bruh I was rewatching Nero's Dead Weight just now too.
I just want to say your profile picture is scary
bald Vergil ;0
An extremely powerful demon, once loyal to the demon king during a war in which Mundus sought to conquer the world, until they developed a "human heart" so to speak, gaining the ability to care for others like a human can, and after gaining this new sensation, they rebelled against their own kind, and sealed Mundus away (I know it was actually Dante that sealed Mundus in DMC1, but it was with a good deal of help from Trish so I count that as a W for her too)
I honestly love this take and wish Capcom would lean into it more
Imagine how fucking mad Mundus is because he got betrayed again, like if this where to repeat whith Date's son or Maybe Nero's kid, I sure hope Mundus stops giving free will to he's subordinates
Trish will never get anything since her original creators left the company. She doesn't even have a Devil Trigger which was something the original team intended for her to have instead of Sunglasses + Yellow Fart smoke we got in DMC2 and DMC4.
Unless Itsuno got an idea. But for now Yellow Aura Sunglasses it is i guess.
Nice video!
This video caught me off guard. Great quality video and in-depth analysis on Trish, love your work, dude
Well if i was Dante, i would feel very uncomfortable with a sexy clone of my mother around me.
I'd like to add a couple of somethings about Trish between DMC 1 and 2.
1) In the DMC 2 Novel, Enzo and Dante discuss Trish leaving.
' "By the way, whatever happened to that beauty? You had a really pretty chick, didn't you?"
Dante raised an eyebrow but showed no further signs of life.
Enzo lit up inside. This was the tack to take. "What was her name again? You know, the girl? Where did she go?"
"Who knows?" Dante said flatly. '
Dante's response is evidence that he still saw Trish in the superficial way as his mother, rejecting any sexual description from Enzo.
In this reality, Trish was never saved by Dante and given the spark needed to become more human. As a result, they become alike any lesser demons
' Dante didn't answer. '
The Leader Trish and Dante fight with him recounting their first match with Dante being victorious but his trauma of losing his mother rises and makes him deeply conflicted.
Whilst the novel is dubiously canon, I just thought these bits were good as supporting evidence for your argument.
I’m so sad Lucia doesn’t get enough appearances in the series she needs to be implemented more
I believe one of the fundamental reason why Dante embraced and choose his human side is because he genuinely felt and understood the compassion, love and sacrifice one human gives to another without expexting anything in return.
She's such a cool character.

where's the analysis for lady
But is she a good character "meh."
Lucia on the other hand is a demon, who thought she was human who came from a clan of people; who somehow has devils blood within them.
I feel like they did everything right with Lucia, as a character. That just the execution was bad via the game she made in.
Hi buddy ,can you talk about all tekken, street fighter, king of fighters and mortal kombat characters ???It will give you so mny videos.
Dante - She's not my love interest, she looks like my mom. *looks at Lady photos*

Tbh I think Dante looks at Trish as a sister.
Cant blame him really.

She has always been my favorite DMC girl, very underrated, thank you for this video!
Amazing! would you do one about Lady?
It’s seems like Devil May Cry need some prequel/development games...cause there’s so much plot gaps in between the development of characters
Visions of V might scratch that itch but the next DMC game should take the story more seriously.

Yeah like DMC 5 was designed as per DMC 3 standard and yet it kinda feels like DMC 3 has more in depth story...Despite that, DMC 5 was a super nice game...especially when considering the fact that DMC 5 got DMC out of that niche and more widespread worldwide...
A good idea would be a game prequel style where you can play as Sparda
@@RoroCoco1672 Yes, I've been begging for a Sparda game for years.
I love what you made of her character, I wish you could have written a plot for her before 5 ended!
A video on Lady is now required. Please I beg of you.
She really doesnt have much in the games, but I think shes in DMC5 prequel novel (Capcom should really bring her back into the fold, her and her mom/grandma...what ever she was)
keep up the dope work my man
I think Dante may view Trish as a younger sister cause as we all know Dante is all about family.
What fan-comic was it?

Pizza truly is the esence of the universe well said good sir
Here’s to hoping the upcoming Netflix series will delve more into Trish n Lady as well
My relationship with this character it's pretty wacky, I frist was trish in Marvel versus Capcom 3(and was having a hard time beating her online)and when I found out she was from the game has this dante guy and Vergil I thought "huh that's pretty neat." A couple months later I saw Devil May Cry 1 at Gamestop and bought it immediately and I fell in love with the game and Trish's character very quickly.
Yeah I think that might have something to do with it.)
I think this also might have happened because I remember in the little mermaid, the original one, the mermaid would become human when the prince fell in love with her and kissed her, flowing his soul into her, which makes me think exactly of the situation between sparda and eva, and the themes of the whole story of dmc itself.
Plus, mermaid rock dude.
Not to take away from the ideas in the video, just adding some background to it.
Plus, hey...in a way I could imagine that's how trish got a little mommy and daddy too, in a way.
Cause yeah, trish is totally a big sis to dante now.
Great video man! Keep up the content and I can't wait to hear more in the future!
as long as it not blood relate everything is fine but The Image of your mother you need to overcome instead with Common Sense Logic. Mundus Said he can create so many trish as he want like a Cloning to dante in DMC1.
Like a rose. So beutiful yet so dangerous
I been waiting for this
I feel this channel is criminally underrated
Trish deserves so much potential next game. Just wonder how Itsuno will develop her more?
Honestly Trish is one of the most interesting things about DMC for me. She's so mysterious. I have a hunch that itsuno doesn't care much for Trish because he is always so quick to get rid of her. She only seems to get side treatment (DMC2 shes written out of the story and is added as an unlockable playable character that is just rigged to Dante's earlier animations. DMC4SE she seems rather undone and again shares many things w/Dante instead of being wholly unique kinda like her MvC3 interaction. DMC5 well she was obviously just there as exposition)
She's a lightning demon, so i always wondered what lightning demon Mundus based her off of, Griffin?
Especially w/her kindness being such a huge impact on how he turned out as a man
I believe trish and dante have feeling to each othe that's the truth .. but there is a mystery about her story we don't really know!!
@@CalThePaladin3733 yes! Finally someone agrees!
@@jennyyachains1755 Really glad to see other fans who understand this perspective of their relationship ahah. What's a MUST to question what they actually are is to get rid of our own judgments and how we see Trish compared to Eva
@@CalThePaladin3733 wish more people understood, including Itsuno haha
Finally a new video!
thanks for the video was awesome will you do a Lucia video after a Lady & Nico video?
Trish has always been my favorite of the DMC chicks. Still hoping for that Ladies Night DLC Capcom (bring back Lucia).
I always thought trish would be an interesting character to explore. A being created to be a pawn, even her appearance is based off someone else. Like how would someone grapple with that and find their own identity
Yay to bring out Trish! I hope for Lady next. Please Lady!
And Nico?
WOW YOU'VE COME SO FAR DUDE!! KEEP IT UP :D
GEORGE MY BOI!!!
"Wandering the world by yourself and finding yourself while at it is the process everyone goes through."
Everyone *with ridiculous amounts of cash*. Not just "everyone"
lol yeah on a larger scale like literally going from country to country requires money, but looking for new experiences nearby at like different school clubs or trying to hang out with various people also count as exploring the immediate world around them
So....Trish is like Cereza(Bayonetta)
Identity Crisis
Trish needs her own game with a plot to explore who Trish really is.
I see Trish more like Dante’s sister-figure. Like the possible third child Eva could have had have tragedy hadn’t accord.
Yesss a dmc video
it would probably be better if the relationship between Trish and Dante becomes a sibling relationship.
I dunno, man. Dante hasn't been particularly open to incest or anything.
@@lucaswibisono1316 what does incest have to do with anything? No one said they were dating...
As a Philadelphian…I agree about pizza…good pizza is necessity
Am I the only one who thinks Trish and Nico are very pretty and that Nico does not suck but is likeable?
I wonder if Trish in a sense to Dante is a representation of Ivory and Lady is a representation of Ebony
Trish is clad in black while lady is clad in white. So maybe switch that
@@Random_Guy_20xx true that
Could we get videos on Lady and Lucia please?
This right here is a perfect excuse for capcom to make some story dlc for DMC5. Not only would it make them more money, but it would actually make the fans happy as well. Granted it might be really difficult with the photo-realistic graphics of the game, but it would be worth it.
Love this analysis and would love for the developers to explore more of Trish in future Devil May Cry works. Is there any clue on what her "true" form as a demon is, or is this doppelganger of Dante's mom it?
Nice video as always
I just had a thought....what if Trish was inspired by Trish Status from WWE
both are buxom blondes in black leather
Hey maybe you can do a champion analysis on cast of final fantasy 7 since the remake is going to be coming out soon
Even Dante who knew his mother was dead would find that sus as fuck and wouldn't trust her
3000 years.
Very good video !! :D
I legit think Trish and Dante was a thing I though he may been the father of neo
Call me crazy but i see Miya(Re7) in her face, seriously tho she looks like her
bro i thought so too wtf
You are from NY? Don't put the damn pineapple on pizza
I still don’t know if she simply looks like Eva or is a clone of her thus making her Dante’s Aunt/Sister depending how you view that.
"Pizza is the essence of the universe" How do I join the church you're preaching at, brother?
I still think that Trish is in actuality, Eva, brought back to life by Mundus, with demonic powers and without her past memories.
Wasn’t it That Trish was created To be a look like Of Dantes mom Just so she could kill a Dante?
I dislike that people judge her for her looks. Just because she looks a bit like his mother, Dante is prevented from loving her.
Me 2 .. I believe they have feeling to each other but they wait the right moment.. I guess trish hide some story about her we don't know before that!!
Yeah Trish as it stands has no right being second worst girl. Especially considering she has such an interesting role in the series.
After, Danté frees Trish from Cavaliere and the whole crew are reunited, when Danté, Trish and V are discussing the Quilpoth, Trish says, "Even the almighty Mundus used it to become king of the Underworld."
To me, this line was very striking, Trish describing Mundus as "almighty" implies she still has a level of respect and admiration for him. I do wish that their relationship had further development as it's really hard to ascertain how Trish feels about her creator. He is technically her father.
Yo, enjoyed the video could you give me the name for the intro song?
Please do lady next, please do lady next
Yeah defo a dynamic worth exploring between Dante and Trish, devs/scriptwriters missed a trick there, Dante cares a bit about her but it would be cool if Vergil had a little interaction with her 😅
As an aside, I hate how Lady is portrayed in DMC5, she has no edge at all, way more of a badass in 3 but now she's just there for a bit of eye candy and cheap laughs, as a fan I feel insulted
That'd make for some creative gameplay if they ever make a game for her
@@ChampionAnalysis hey, I'm with you on that one, sounds like a pretty cool idea.
I had a nightmare that Netflix adapts DMC into live action. They cast trish and dante as black
