  • Whether it's caused by a nail, screw, renegade branch or other sharp and pointy object, a flat tire caused by a puncture is something that most of us have to deal with at some point and time especially if you take your Jeep off road. And, while it can be a bummer, it is at least something that can be fixed quickly and with relative ease. The best part is, so long as the hole is located on the tread, the repair will be good enough that you won't have to think about again. In this short video, you'll get to see just how easy it is to locate a leak and how to fix it yourself using a tire plug.

    Even though I've plugged many tires, I still watched all the way to the end, and for that I was rewarded with an adorable clip of the newest family member.

    Great job on the video, excellent topic but also some clever editing. I have a big rig with a leaking tire. I believe it is a nail, and at $600 per tire, I finally decided to buy the Safety Seal Tire Repair kit that looks similar to the one you have. You made it look easy, and I hope now that I have observed the process demonstrated, I am as successful in my repair as you. Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate. Cool vehicles in your garage!!

    i love your how to do videos, i wish you would show how to do trail repairs on vehicles like gladiator or jk, what needs to be repaired and how to do it video would be great, changing an axle shaft, fixing a broken u joint, any repairs you have seen done on the trail and how to get your vehicle back to civilization. this would be a great set of videos for the beginner off roader and would also help with selecting the tools and parts needed to keep your jeep running off road , these would be a refference series for all offroaders.

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, we do feature some of that in our videos. Our Bedeviled video shows an axle shaft change and I'm pretty sure our Maple Honey one shows a u-joint replacement. We've also done ring gear removals on a few others. But, we also have specific videos that show some of this stuff in detail and they'll help out a lot on the trail.

    Thank you so much for the great video! I wonder why there is only lubricant in that kit, isn´t there a need for glue?

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is no need for glue as the plugs are already treated with what is needed to make it work.

    Good video! My dad has plugged many a tire, and I actually have the kit you shared the link to. It is frowned upon to run on in the side, like that, but Dad would, Lol.

      LOL - I would too but needed to put that out there for all the Negative Nancy's out there.

      Wayalife to be fair, it is just barely in the side. It will probably never give you a problem.

    Hi there, very nice jeep you have! I just wanna ask you if 315/70/17 would fit my 2008 jeep wrangler with stock wheels 3.25" lift? I appreciate it and thank you.

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they will fit but you will need to run 1.5" wheel spacers if you want to keep your factory wheels.

    I am a truck driver (Tanker oil field in North Dakota) and I got 4 of those kits one for my wife’s car my Gladiator our grand Cherokee and my semi. Very handy even if it’s a side wall and you don’t want to walk lol I got spare tires in everything but the semi but with 26 tires unless it’s a steer tire I can get to a shop

    Love your new puppy! So, how hard are you having to push to get the rasp and the plug in the tire? I have thought about getting and old tire and trying it to see if I will be able successfully use the kit I carry. I have been missing your videos. Take care and be safe.

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not nearly as hard as I would have needed to if the tire were flat. Also, the size and thickness of a tire will making things easier or harder. For instance, a stock tire which is quite small and thin requires virtually no effort at all.

    Hello Ripley✌️

    I bought the Tru-Flat Radial Tire Repair kit. It didn't come with any lubricant or rubber glue. It only came with 10 repair strips & 1 closed eye needle. My husband put the repair strips in the closed eye needle. He did it the way you did it and when he pulled the needle slowly straight out, the strip stayed in the closed eye needle. The needles has no opening so the strip can come out and stay in the hole. So, my husband took the strip out the hole,put it on top of the hole and pushed it in with the needle just till we were able to get to a tire shop.We ended up having to drive the car with a flat to a tire shop & we have low profile tires so we got lucky we didn't tear the tire or mess up the rim while driving it 1-1/2 miles to the nearest tire shop.Do you have any suggestions on how to use this closed eye needle just Incase we have an emergency again?

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally, I would get a new kit with a tool that has a split on the needle as you see in this video as it will make the job a lot easier. That said, I think the idea with a closed needle is to just thread in the plug in just a bit - maybe a 1/4 of the length or so. This as opposed to pulling it half way through. This will allow you to push the plug deep into the tire and when you pull it back out, you should be able to free it from the tool. When done right, you should see both ends of the plug sticking out.
